We’d heard about this place on the radio and were looking for some good food. We’d have been better off going to McDonalds! The Mister and I both got the pulled pork. Despite the nearly empty restaurant, it tood 22 minutes for the food to get to our table. and when it did, it was lukewarm.

When I pointed it out to the waitstaff, the young woman through her arms in the air and said ‘Oh, I’m so sorry’ and walked off!

Not bothering to go there again.

Having eaten here several times, I do agree the service and the attitudes leave a lot to be desired.

Never had the BBQ, but the NE clam bake is always good, though at times the clams are overcooked.

As for those who say “what do you expect”, some of us who know what fine dining is expect a lot, and Tail’s prices certainly reflect fine dining. Maybe the owner needs to have Robert Irvine pay a visit. He doesn’t tolerate attitude, and he realizes that even diners can serve great food. If the food sucks, it’s the chef, and if the wait staff have attitude, it’s the manager, if there is one.

My Wife and I were riding through the Area and saw your place. We wanted a nice meal and ordered the ribs and chicken. That was a bad mistake. The chicken was very dry and tasteless and the ribs were slimy and cold. However the waiter was very nice.

We pointed the bike south east from Kingston ON Canada and headed out. Cross the border and continued to head east. After cruising through the Adirondacks which I always wanted to we came upon this gem on the road. The four B’s Bikes, BBQ, Booze and a Band. We had a fantastic time there. We got ourselves a cabin so as to not Drink and Ride and proceeded to set down at a picnic table and order two 3lbs lobsters the Clam bake and brisket. The food was great what a five star chip truck…LMAO. Listening to the band and enjoying the company of travelers who ended up at this place alongside the road. I will be back maybe this year but next riding season for sure. Oh and I am a biker and I do and did tip the waitress very well. And I only tip if I see that the staff is trying to give me great service. As a retired Chef I am fully aware of how the hospitality field is. Thanks Dr. Y and your staff. What a flipping experience. Can’t wait to return again

I’ve been to this place once every summer since 2005. The party I go with has always enjoyed their meal, but for some reason I’ve always hated mine. I’m generally easy to please, but every single time my food comes out dry and overcooked. This most recent trip our party of 4 ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas which tasted like they were made from a terrible mix, no salt on the glasses, and couldn’t even hint the tequila. As for my meal, I’d ordered the chicken, ribs, pulled pork and other standards in the past and always hated them, so this time I decided to go for the tuna steak. I ordered it rare. My dog would have had a hard time chewing through it it was that tough. I literally took 2 bites. One from the edge and then one from the center in hopes part of it was not super well done. Like every other time, it was dry and tough and with no flavor too boot. I didn’t touch it after those 2 bites and the waitress never asked how the food was, nor said anything when she picked up my plate with the food still on it before we paid for 3/4 of the bill and left. I’ve had bad food before at other places and would go to all these other places again, but Tail o the Pup is so bad I would rather eat my dog’s food out of his dish on my hands and knees, no joke. But, alas, my friends like the place and it’s become sort of a tradition after going 7 summers in a row, that I know I’ll end up there again in 2012. From now on, I’m going to get the cheapest thing on the menu and order EXTRA rare.

WoW…so I read EVERY comment here~SERIOUSLY!!! when you drove by…WHAT were you expectig!?!?! your not going to get a 5 star resteraunt experience eating at a picnic table in the MIDDLE OF THE WOODS!!! This is an overgrown tourist campsite~to work here is NOT a carreer move~its a SEASONAL job…most take these crappy jobs so they can make a little $$ to get by while they spend a season in an amazingly beautiful place in the world~the cabons are NOT a room service luxury room…its a CABIN that is boarded up for half the year IN THE WOODS!!
John & I pulled in here…LAUGHING as we paid the $60 or so dollars for our cabin…because we KNEW we were about to have a memorable experience…food wasnt great, our cabin curtain was an OLD towel, & we didn’t dare use the rusty shower…but we DID make it an AmAzInG experience~we ate, podered brushing off the pine needles to play a game of pool under a tree, met some drunk out of towners around the campfire, armwrestled, spent a ScArY night in the cabin together(I saved him from the GIANT man eating creature under the bed)…in the morning we left~went to town got a real room to shower & spend the rest of our trip…taking with us an AwEsOmE night TOGETHER!!!

Its not food, service, or lodging that make your experience…ITS YOU…so try to STOP setting such high expectation on OTHER people, places, & things…may YOUR the reason YOU had a crappy time enjoying time with someone you you love!!

your remark about valid complaints make it to the authorities. I was the one that did not get a meal so I wrote to tale o the pup and never got a reply back so if
they wanted to, all they had to do was reply back to me. But I can see that they would rather have the people that come once in a while instead of people that drive by 2 to 3 times a month but that is fine you go there and eat until they screw you then you will understand our part

I have been up in the park since I can remember (Liberty Year 76), when I was only 6 years old. Spending the summers at our trailer in Scroon Lake. Skiing at Whiteface. I brought my now wife up for a weekend camping and we drove by a decided to stop. We camped miles away and went there everyday at least once. Killer pulled pork. The only place that I’ve found gives them a run for there money is the Bar-B-Barn in Montreal, and Billy Bones in Michigan. I love my BBQ. I’m reading a bunch of crap from some disgruntled employees, shame on you, if there was a valid complaint, make it to the authorities, instead of a cheap blow where it is a little to easy.

This was the worst dining experience ever!! Stay away from this place!The service sucks. I live about an hour away and have said never again in the past. I decided to give it another try. This time I am going on record as saying never again.

The waitress was a complete idiot! The Manager could not be bothered when my dad’s meal was over an hour late. Said he would take it off the bill and then never delivered it. Real big Favor he did us!

We waited 20 minutes for drinks. The old famous “be right back to take your order”= wait another ten minutes. So we waited a half hour to order our food. When it came out some orders were missing. “It’ll be right out!” “I don’t know what is taking so long?” Finally “Its not coming.”
ALL TOTAL 2 AND A HALF HOURS THERE AND DAD DID NOT GET HIS FOOD. (PRETTY CRAPPPY SEEING HE IS THE ONE WHO WANTED TO STOP THERE!)

It always seems like a good idea to stop there. Trust me its never an idea that will get 2 thoughts in my mind.

I lived in Saranac Lake for a brief time. I was told by the locals to not eat there. I did not listen and paid dearly. I suffered for days with food poisoning form that place. Yanchitis is a moron who cant run an eatery.

I worked there a few summers ago. Rumors were rampant that the owner was burying safes full of undeclared cash on the property, there WERE tons of health code violations. He closes the place during the winter so every little critter trying to get out of the cold move into the closed restaurant during the winter only to die. I can’t tell you how many mouse pellets, dead mice, dead coons and other signs of wildlife we found while preparing to open the place. The owner, Eddy Yanchitis WILL rip you off, and then tell you to fuck off when you confront him. He got a little hands on with me and I punched him in the mouth haha. He DOES treat his own staff like shit, and I’ve personally seen him sexually harass his female staff which consists mostly of girls from europe who barely speak english. If they complain, he sends them packing and charges them an arm and a leg to stay on his property…their living conditions are well below standard. The food….hehehe….the food is hastily assembled by an over-worked and under appreciated staff. MANY healthcode violations committed behind the kitchen counter….so take it from a former employee of Tail O The Pup, if you get sick from eating that shit….don’t say you weren’t warned. The only reason I stayed as long as I did because I’m a combat vet and have a strong sense of team work…..I wanted to be there for the european staff that was mistreated horribly and I wanted to help….but a man can only take so much from a tyrant like Eddy Y. He’s lucky I didn’t beat him to a pulp for the way he treated me.

Well let’s see… I went to this place because I was hired for the days entertainment. I showed up before noon for the 12:30 to 3:30 show. At that point the owner came over and push us till 1. We played from 1pm till about 3 with a break in between. From there we had a two hour break. So we order up some food . I got the chicken and ribs. The service was good, the refills kept coming and our food was brought out pretty quick. Presentation was so-so. But the food itself was god awful!!! The ribs had a taste like they were left in a propane grill with a NASTY flare up. They were also on the dry side. The chicken had the same taste. I asked the others that order the same thing and they said the same. The sides were sophomoric at best. The rest of the night I kept burping up the nasty burnt taste. YUck! Then beside the terrible food at the end of the night, after playing ALLLLLL day and into the evening the owner shorted the band and was conveniently no where to be found to explain… All in all the whole experience was lack luster. Not to mention the 2hour one way commute. I would say eat somewhere else!!! A Mc Donald’s McRib would be better…

We have been there twice and have been happy both times.We all had brisket the last time and the portion was huge. The garlic wings are awesome also. We stayed in the cabins and they are histerical. talk about primitive. owner needs to invest into the cabins and the furniture arround the firepit is falling apart. The staff consist of all cute young girls and mostly foreign. In talking to a couple of asian girls that work there the us girls treat them badly and don’t share tips and they work 13 hour days helping them serve for peanuts. The owner needs to put some rules in place for tip shareing and improving the living conditions for these young workers. No fans in 95 degree weather for them and no tv etc.. felt bad for them

We waited for over 1 1/2 hours for our food to come, our drinks truned to water, the Food may be good, the service is so…..so…. bad!!! We watch as people came and went, we complained and hoped for someone to do something about it!! Only to make reason why???? The Food was’t As Good as the Bad service?

It was our first time visiting Tail and we loved it so much we met back the next night. Our waitress was Jen and she was awesome even took time to show us rental cabins. We went there for the atmosphere not 5 star dining but I would give this place 5 stars cant wait to go back.

I have to say that I have eaten at Tail O the Pup a couple of different times and the food is hit or miss. Sweet potato fries are good though. The service really does suck! The one comment from the waitress that works there really blows my mind. I have been there as a Biker and with a car and we did get treated like shit as Bikers, so you get what you give bitch…Shit service, shit tip…Was planning a trip back there during Americade, but after reading all this, I think we’ll find another place.
