I too was stung by the closing of my Carnival Card account. I had over 400,000 points and no early warning that they would be closing my account. Also no warning that my points would be lost along with the closing of this card. It is a shame that a bank can make so much money off of you through the high interest that they charge and then can turn around and basically rob you of what you earned (and actually paid for). Seems to have have them a lot of money. I will certainly be writing the attourney general to discuss this matter.

Like many others, I was advised that my Carnival Sea Miles were being converted to FunPoints in a letter from Barclays dated 12/15/09. To my surprise, when I attempted to use my MasterCard to book a new cruise in late August 2010, I was told that my account had been closed in April 2010 and that my cumulative 20,000+ points had, therefore, also been forfeited. Many calls to Barclay’s Customer Service have been fruitless in getting any satisfactory explanations as to why the card was cancelled, why I wasn’t notified of such action, or if there was a way I could get the points reinstated. I struck out on all three counts, and was advised to re-apply for a new card and start accumulating points again. Do they really think that they have gained people’s trust operating this way? There are many other banking alternatives that will put Barklay’s to shame! They can go pound salt!

I have over 97,000 Funpoints. I called before booking a cruise and was told to book the cruise, then apply for a statement credit. The Funpoints Calculator on their website showed that a little over 95,000 points would give me $1,590 in staement credit. I booked a $2000+ cruise, then they only offer me $1200 in credit. I was told to take it or leave it.

I’m so sorry I wasted time applying for this rip off card.It’s a nightmare trying to redeem points AND log on to their horrible web site. Very surprised the govt. hasn’t shut this raquet down. They continue their shenanigans. I’m cancelling my card as soon as I cash in my #*(%#* points. Also, I’m missing over 500 points.

I have had increased interest rated and missing points during the conversion from sea miles to fun point I had 38,144 sea miles when transformed into fum points I lost half my points now I only have 19072 fun points I have went round and round with Barclays bank and there customer service people to no a veil. So I contacted Deleware Better Business they gave Barclays Bank their chance to explain point there response was seamiles mysteriously doulble when they tried converting to funpoints and that was the end of the complaint I lose nearly $200.00 doesnt seem right

I really question this card. They advertise low interest rate. However, if you use the Carnival Point system, they will increase the interest rate. They jumped ours up to 30 percent. Yes I said 30%. There is no, repeat no support from their representatives. Suggest Carnival find a new card company or provide honest information to their travelers. We are platinum and have carnival stock.

hi,it would be 0% interest. They charged us $50 to do it. One month later they upped the interest to 14% saying we were late.they never gave me back my missing points. I was afraid to redeem what I had because the $ amount of the points was not calculating correctly on the website, in which they said would be corrected and never was.

Don’t use or get the Carnival Seamiles credit card, they are horrible. When they transferred my points from seamiles to funpoints they cut my points from 24,600 to 12500. They said there was an error that would be corrected in a week and it is now 4 months later. I cannot redeem my cruise points because they never gave me back my missing points. I was afraid to redeem what I had because the $ amount of the points was not calculating correctly on the website, in which they said would be corrected and never was. Now my account went into default because they never corrected the problem with my point calcuation on the website nor did they give me back my missing points. My cruise purchase was left unpaid on my credit card due to their insufficiences and lack of follow up – now I have to pay interest and fniance fees on a purchase I otherwise shouldn’t have had to pay for in the first place. The point redemption on the website is a scam, it is a way for them to control everything from the backend so you will have to end up paying extra fees while they take their time “fixing things”. This card is freaking disaster and I can’t wait to close this account.

Had 65000 seamiles that were supposed to transfer in Jan.however I now have 22000 and 14000 of those came from 2009…8 carnival cruises for 2 over 4 years…hmmmmsomehow doesn’t add up that I only spent 2000 per year…especially when you get double and triple! Going to Norwegian and Discover! Screw em

Get a card in your name – not with your spouse. My spouse just died – the company cancelled my card and took all my points! I am REALLY unhappy!

I opened the account & transferred a balance, made a purchase to get the points for my cruise coming up. Even though I have enough points, their website won’t allow me to redeem for anything. Customer service reps & supervisor useless, they say their website has a glitch that won’t allow even them to help me redeem my points. Don’t get this card, it is a scam. I have filed a complaint with the attorney generals office. If they wanted to solve the problem, they could. They still advertise the perks and have no incentive to follow through once they have your business.

The move from seamiles to funpoints is a ripoff! All my seamiles from 2009 do not reflect onlines as fun points. ANY attempts to fix the situation over the phone or by email generates a computer generated responce of wait 2 or 3 billing cycles. I have a cruise comming in Feb 2010, what incentive would I have to use this fun points card when I can get no answers as to what happened to my points! FUNPOINTS, not so fun!

This card is a rip off. We were told we could transfer a balance and it would be 0% interest. They charged us $50 to do it. One month later they upped the interest to 14% saying we were late. Two months after than they upped the interest to 24%. I also have a credit score in the 700′s and here I am paying 24% interest!! When I called, the lady was a smart aleck and told me they could lower it by .25%. She also couldn’t tell me when I was late. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she told me that she didn’t know of any and asked me,”Why do I want to talk to them?”
I had transferred $4,000 onto that card and paid it off in 6 months. The following month they upped my credit limit to $6,000 but kept the interest rate at 24%. Makes no sense!!
They also wiped out all my miles.
DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!

I have the Carnival Sea Miles Master Card. It is a ripoff. You cannot book with Carnival or any travel agent other than calling Sea Miles. I was on hold last night for 65 minutes, just to be told they no longer handle the Carnival Card. I was referred to Barclay Bank to redeem points. I could not redeem for my next cruise, however, they supposedly will let me apply the points to my previous cruise for statement credit. That remains to be seen. Sea Miles is now pushing their new Visa card which I would never apply for. Sea Miles is awful. Better off using my Discover card. I get a larger rebate with them.

DO NOT GET A CARNIVAL SEAMILES CARD. Not only are the points hard to accumulate, but their customer service reps are horrible. I was charged a late fee on a payment that never went through and they wouldn’t refund me the amount. They all just read off of scripts and hung up on me. Worst Credit Card EVER!

You do have 5 years to use your seamiles, the curise lines dictate what your points are worth so they are the ones who increase the number of points needed to take the cruise, the sea miles agency has a wonderful staff who will do all they can to get you the best value for your points.

Carnival Sea Miles Credit Card is a scam. They up the points required for a free cruise every year so you will have a very hard time earning enough points to ever get one for free. Then they double your interest rate after a few years. Mine went from 14% to 24%. They said I was late one month but they can’t prove it and I looked up my statements for the last 2 years and no sign of being late ever. Instead of them helping me, they referred me to a credit counseling company. My credit score is 750 or above. They are a total scam and would NOT recommend using the card unless u can pay it off every month.
