- I loved how this book showed me so much about a place that I have always wanted to visit. Now I know exactly who and what to look for when I get there! Can't wait to see more from this company.
- I was really looking forward to this book. Something showcasing the beautiful Northwest. What a disappointment when I opened this book. The design is dated, however the most disappointing thing is that some of the so called "treasures" are chain motels, not the little unique places I expected to find. Don't waste your money!

2 comments about Rv Adventures in the Pacific Northwest: A Camping Guide to Washington, Oregon, & British Columbia.
- The book is called "A Camping Guide", so I was expecting a guide to camping, campgrounds, etc. Well, it's more like a suggested trip guide with very little (5 lines) information per campground. Also, they list only very few, only those which are on their suggested trips. Even though not a complete loss (the trips are kind of nice), I think the title is completely misleading. Also there are 5 trips for WA, 2 for Oregon, and 1 for BC... very Washington centric. I also don't quite understand why a camp guide needs information about downtown Seattle.... not many people camping there last time I checked. If I want a tourist guide for Seattle, I buy one and there are many better ones.
- I bought this book thinking I would find where to stay and visit on some great tours through Washington. I live here and all of their tours are already well known - I hoped for something different. They talk about spending several days touring Seattle! This is not an adventure for somebody in an RV to make - traffic is terrible. Not at all what I thought or it sounded from editorial reviews.

2 comments about Touring the Islands: Bicycling in the San Juan, Gulf, and Vancouver Islands.
- Recently, I had the honor of meeting David at a Book Signing of Vietnam Era helicopter Pilots. David is as delightful and faithful man as his writing. Prior to meeting him, I had purchased his book and read it advidly. He writes a completely different Vietnam Novel whereby he mixes his faith experience and combat experience with a moving story of the devotion that people can have towards each other in the world of combat. While this is fiction, I have spoken with him at great length and know his work reflects his own faith journey and personal morays. Keeping the action moving, David manages to also convey more important things than a simple "shoot em up" novel would attempt. I highly recommend this to people who are interested how men of faith struggled in the "apparently Godless" world of war. This is anovel that you can feel very comfortable in allowing your children to read.

- This is fantastic little pocket carryall book for cycling San Juan, Gulf and Vancouver Islands. Small, 3-D maps, elevation gain, mileage. They just dont make them anymore,
I could not find it to buy in USA since they are out of print, so I checked out of Library. Now I have found it on-line...

1 comments about Best Places Northwest: The Best Restaurants and Lodgings in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia (Best Places Northwest).
- I've had the older edition of this book for years and brought it on every road trip we've ever taken. Certainly it doesn't have every wonderful place you've ever stayed at -- but it has so many that are good it would be foolish not to follow the recommendations it provides.
My only complaint is that some of the wonderful places (which, granted, we never would have found had it not been for this book) have become so difficult to get reservations at that we find this book sometimes does not help for those last minute weekend trips out of town. That said, if you live in the Northwest, consider this your bible -- from Portland to Vancouver, the Islands, and everywhere in between -- you will always find a reliable recommendation for a good table and a warm bed in the pages of this book.

1 comments about Cross-Country Ski Tours: Washington's South Cascades & Olympics.
- This is the first printed guide I turn to for information about ski destinations close to home. For years, these authors had a corner on the kick-and-glide market. They set the trail for others to follow, with the familiar format of two pages, a B&W photo and a sketch map per entry. With several new, specialty books on the market for snowshoeing and snowboarding, skiers still prefer Kirkendall and Spring, because the authors share the aesthetic that draws us to Nordic skiing: a simple sport, with dignity, and as much respect for its heritage as for the environment in which we practice it.

1 comments about Faith of Fools: A Journal of the Klondike Gold Rush.
- I was floored by this book. It is diary of a group of men traveling to the yukon in search of gold. I was amazed at the things that they went through. In our relatively easy modren life, It is good to read about what extremes people would go through in the old days. To say that they had a rough journey would be an understatement. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a feel for what it must have been like to ber part of the gold rush in the Yukon territory.
