1 comments about Seattle, Washington: Popout.
- Whenever I travel to a city I'll be staying in for more than a few days, I check to see if a pop-out map is available. I purchased this one on a trip to Seattle for a week last year.
These little maps easily fit in a back-pocket or breast-pocket, and fold out easily while on the go (could be done one-handed if needed). The map includes:
- an overview map of Puget Sound and Seattle area
- Greater Seattle map
- Downtown Seattle with insets for Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square
- University of Washington Map
It's all crammed into a small package that's great to use. The beauty is that you don't have to spend hours folding a map away and looking like a complete tourist. Pop the map out, use it to find out where you're headed, and slip it back into a pocket. Can be very quick (if you are semi-familiar with the area after a while). Love it for quick bus-rides, etc., where you have a few moments to pull out a map and find out if you're headed the right way.

5 comments about Washington, D.C. with Kids, 2nd Edition (Travel with Kids).
- This book makes seeing Washington so easy and painless. The sights are grouped according to location, so you know what you can see together in a short amount of time. I discovered gems in Washington that I never knew existed! And just when the kids are getting cranky and hungry, there is a list of good places to eat. The directions by metro are very helpful and well done. I highly recommend this book to natives and visitors alike!
- I found this book easy to read, full of useful and fun information. I have recommended to friends that do not have children and are planning a trip to the nation's capitol.
The information is interesting and concise. The book is well-written and includes many interesting and little known bits of information, as well as the more typical tourist spots.
- Washington, D.C. is the most unique city in the world. Whether you are visiting the area or live there, one cannot possibly know the wealth of information found in Washington, D.C. with Kids. I grew up in the area, but I have lived away for more than twenty years. Without this guide, I would have difficutly finding the places I want to see when I am back. I wish there had been such a book when my kids were younger. It's always such a challenge finding entertaining and worthwhile activities when on family trips. Imagine showing up in a city and having a resource that gives you a map, a subway map, addresses of places, times of operation, and even suggestions for meals! This book even indicates which venues are appropriate for various age groups. All of that and more is found in this superb volume. It's a "must have" for anyone planning a visit to Washington, D.C.
- This is the only EDUCATIONAL guide to Washington, DC with kids -- and is now available in its 2nd Edition, published by Fodor's.
The second edition completely updates the sites and the restaurants and the recommendations -- based on input from readers as well as extensive research by the authors. Washington, D.C. with Kids, 2nd Edition (Fodor's) is available on the Web and through all major bookstores! HIGHLY recommended by its readers!
- It's clearly written, very informative, and enjoyable to read besides. I learned a lot from this book. I learned there are many more things to see and do in Washington than I knew. It's an invaluable planning aid, since I now know which sites will bore our son and which he will enjoy. The book also gives ideas on how children can have educational fun in our capital, tips on getting around, and more.

2 comments about Lewis and Clark Revisited: A Photographer's Trail (Lyndhurst Book).
- Another classic guide to Lewis and Clark which stands out from the crowd, Lewis And Clark Revisited: A Photographer's Trail follows the famed explorer's route and packs in a wealth of black and white photos of the Lewis and Clark experience. Almost ten years ago photographer Reg MacGregor began his journey following the Lewis and Clark route, photographing the country along the way. Highly recommended for both simple browing and serious study, Lewis And Clark Revisited provides a fine - often thought-provoking - set of images reflecting a much-changed land since the original expeditions.
- This book of contemporary photographs of sites visited by Lewis & Clark on their Corps of Discovery trip from St. Louis to the Pacific in Oregon in 1804-06 was an ideal traveling companion for my recent cruise from Portland up the Columbia River to the Snake River in Idaho, following in their footsteps, The excerpts from Lewis' and Clark's journals juxtaposed to the photos are fascinating for anyone interested in this epic adventure.

2 comments about Back Roads of Washington: 74 Trips on Washington's Scenic Byways.
- An off-highway travel guide divided into four regional parts. Each part, and each of the 74 trips, has a sketch map. The best part is, the author used his own illustrations instead of photos. Very enjoyable to read even if you don't venture off the interstate--and more enjoyable if you visit these Backroads of Washington.
- Takes one to the heart of Washington and is great for trips of interest and learning.

2 comments about The Thomas Guide 2007 King, Pierce & Snohomish Counties: Street Guide (King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties Street Guide and Directory).
- If you're still using paper maps instead of GPS, this one is the one to have. Without a doubt, get the 3 county instead of the single King county map. It's big, but it's effective. Load the free cd in your computer too.
- I decided not to go fancy, and buy a GPS navigation system. However I wanted a reasonably compact map book that I could carry in my truck. I drive mostly in Pierce County. I gave this map book a five because it illustrates all the local roads, and points of interest, at a fine level of detail. I use this all the time to look for shortcuts or to route around traffic jams and construction. Even if I had GPS navigation, I would still keep this book as a backup.
