- A great way to understand the wierd geology you see when hiking and driving through southern Washington. Covers volcanic geology from the Mt. St. Helens area south to the Oregon border.
- This book provides an inventory of the major and minor features of a world class volcanic province. Few people have seen as much of the area as have these authors of the book (Marge Mueller and Ted Mueller, with photographs by Ira and Bob Spring).....it is a superb introduction to the geologic history of the region.
In 1980, peaceful Mt. St. Helens erupted violently, showering the Washington, Idaho, and Montana landcapes with ash. Now explorers can experience firsthand the drama of volcanic cinder cones, lava flows, caves, craters, and more.
In addition to Mt. St. Helens, you will also find informaiton on hikes, treks, and car trips to volcanic sites such as Mt. Adams, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Rainier, along with fascinating historical background on the regions's geology and indigenous flora dn fauna.

1 comments about Pacific Northwest Camping: The Complete Guide to More Than 45,000 Campsites in Washington and Oregon (5th ed).
- Just returned from an extended camping and hiking trip in Washington and Oregon. This book was GREAT. We used it every day to find where to stay and what to expect, and to chose our evening domiciles. We found it to be totally accurate and fun to read too. Nice one. I plan to get the other Stienstra camping guides too now that I know the quality of the info.

1 comments about Another Taste Of Washington State.
- I recently returned from staying at a delightful B&B on Orcas Island. In order to make her B&B stand out from the others, Susan featured a 5 course gourmet breakfast each morning.Far beyond the usual fruit and muffin breakfast, this B&B featured dishes prepared from "Another Taste of Washington State" to back up the gourmet claim. My husband and I were treated to grapefruit sorbet, a hot 5 grain cereal, blueberry baked french toast, sausage basted in plum sauce and a warm pecan coffee cake to die for! If you are tiring of the usual cereal and fruit, toast and jelly or if you are looking for great brunch ideas.. this is the book for you.
The book is clearly organized, the recipes are relatively simple and the called for ingredients can be found in any supermarket. Would make a perfect hostess gift.
