1. Do not be put off by the production year of this video: 1994. The magnificent scenery and unique cinematography is worth viewing. Anyone interested in visiting the countries and islands of the Mediterranean and learning the history of this region would love this video. Included is splendid scenery, the azure and aqua waters viewed from a Royal Caribbean Cruise ship as well as Greek and Sicilian fishing boats, and unique photography of the lands and islands: Greece (a visit to Athens, the islands of Crete and Santorini, Italy (a visit to Rome, Venice, Sicily and the island of Capri) France (Nice and the French Riviera), Monaco, Spain and the island of Majorca.
   
   Famous sites in Italy include, Rome: the Vatican, Cistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps. Some outstanding and unique views of the island of Capri include the blue grotto and perfume industry for which it is famous. In Greece, one visits, the Acropolis, Theater of Dionysis, the palace of Knossos on Crete and the palatial looking white-washed homes built on the cliff edges of the island of Santorini. In Venice, Italy one participates in the annual festival called, "The Wedding of the Sea" ... where a fleet of gondola are decorated and dignataries partake of tossing a wedding band into the water, which is retrieved by divers. The visit to Barcelona, Spain includes viewing gothic cathedrals, colorful tiled fountains, flamenco guitarists, and a flamenco dancer, as well as bull-fight scenes. Cannes France and St. Tropez are viewed with less emphasis than the other countries. Exquisite regions and sights in Monaco are shown. 1. I saw "Confessions of a Train Spotter" on PBS about 20-25 years ago, along with the other shows that made up the series called "Great Railway Journeys of the World." "Confessions of a Train Spotter" is the only episode of the series that I have seen available for sale. I bought a VHS tape of it in 1997 and haven't seen it in any store since then. I recently found the book "Great Railway Journeys of the World", written by the hosts of the series' episodes. These are essential programs and deserve to be re-introduced to a new audience. A boxed set of all the episodes, especially on DVD, would be a treasure trove, indeed. I'm sure they would bring back wonderful memories, especially for those fortunate enough to have experienced these train trips firsthand.
