- This documentary is amazing. I especially enjoyed seeing the shots of Hoover Dam from the base, a view that the general public cannot see anymore after 9/11. The history and country is amazing. Great stuff!
- I really thought this would be just about river rafting, but this goes much further. It's like a PBS program about the history and geology of Black Canyon below Hoover Dam. And (oh yeah) it has good rafting stuff too. It is beautifully photographed and wonderfully written. I learned a lot.

- Well produced video featuring fun places to fly with general aviation aircraft. From Nova Scotia to airplane camping in Idaho I found this tape to be very entertaining even though I'm not a pilot myself. Highly recommended!

5 comments about Flying With Confidence Overcome your Fear of Flying.
- This was video I could understand, it took a fairly complicated and scary subject (at least for me) and made it understandable. As a first time flyer it eased my mind a bit, and told me what was going to happen, so I knew what to expect on my first flight.
What actually happened on my flight followed what happened in the video step by step. Just the thing I needed. Richard Jup,Fl
- While this video (nor any other) can't help a person with a severe flying phobia, it should help those who are nervous or uncomfortable about getting on a plane. (People who are so frightened of flying that they become ill at the thought of it should probably seek professional therapy.)
Although I was able to get on a plane and go places, my fear of flying was such that I spent most of the time praying (once, the purser of a British Airways flight was called to see if I was "all right, now, then?"). This video (plus questions answered on the SOAR website) has made it much more comfortable for me to fly. The review of how the airplane works, pilot training and refresher training, plus quick comments about how weather conditions affect the plane, are all delivered in a calm and matter-of-fact manner by the narrator (who is ostensibly a pilot himself). Throughout, pleasant, nondescript music plays on the soundtrack, and recalling this music to oneself on the plane, during taxiing and takeoff, or during turbulence, can actually produce a calming effect. As indicated in the video, playing it a few times in the days before a flight helps to desensitize you. Remembering that just because you feel anxious doesn't mean you're actually in danger helps, too. One of my favourite vignettes on the tape involves a husband who is sleeping through a violent thunderstorm. His wife wakes him up to watch some lightning outside the plane. He looks, but seems pretty unconcerned about the whole thing. Clearly that guy has conquered his fear of flying!
- I was very disappointed by this 28 minute film of quick facts that we have all heard on T.V. all of our lives. There was nothing new. For the person that has a fear of flying there is nothing that will help you to grasp some information to help you with your fear reaction to flying. I almost laughed when the narrator said, "after you have fastened your seat belt, you take a deep breathe and relax, and before you take off you can place a relaxation tape on to help you relax during the flight!" Right! Or the other advise was to sit back and close your eyes and go to sleep!!! Save your money!
- I had an EXTREME flear of flying -- had not flown in ten years. This video helped me fly again! You must watch this video many times. Psychologists call this rehersal...the goal is to watch so many times that you are desensitized to your fear. Even if you don't think it is working, keep watching...you will be surprised that gradually you will feel much, much better about flying. The reviewers who complained about this video probably did not watch it over and over -- they expected an instant cure. (There are no instant cures.) Watch the video at least three times a week. Also try the full guranteed SOAR coarse (you can find out about it on the WEB). The two together are very, very powerful. I am looking forward to my flight to New York City on July 4, 2002! Happy Flying!
- Amazingly, this short video does not play the sounds that passengers might hear in the cabin - engine noise, hydraulics, etc. It therefore did very little to calm my wife's flying fears. You do not "hop on board" for a flight; what you mostly see is video shot from another plane of "your" plane maneuvering. On the plus side, this short video does cite some good safety statistics which may help the viewer who was not previously aware of them.
