1. Rick Steves' PBS series is one of my "can't miss" TV shows every week, so this video, which combines a couple of his shows on France, is "magnifique". Steves gives lots of practical advice about travel in France, takes us to Burgundy wine country, a rural gite, wonderful restaurants (just looking at the food made my mouth water!), and the Chateaux of the Loire valley. I'm going to France this fall, so being able to get a preview of some of the places I'll see was wonderful.

   No one is as good at doing Europe as Rick Steves. He has a down to earth style and really mixes it up with the locals, staying at small hotels, eating in mom & pop restaurants. He has a way of making you feel that you've seen the real France (or Italy, or Germany, etc.), not just the tourist destinations.

   If you love France you'll love it even more after viewing this video. (Also check out the one on Paris, Normandy and Brittany. This one is my favorie, however...I've watched it many times in anticipation of my trip!)

1. I have seen this movie many times, and I have shown it to friends and visitors on numerous occasions. There is no movie about America out there, that is actually better than this one. A PAL version does exist as well for viewing in Europe. Buy this movie, you 'll be watching it many times, too. It's just so beautiful, like the real America, I might add. It makes a great gift, too.



2. It's a beautiful video over America,with wonderful sights! With this video I have a chance to visit that wonderful country that I love very much. But I noticed,for example,that when we see the Capitol or others monuments,we don't see the Vietnam Memorial! And where are the wonderful beaches of the Pacific Coast?(Malibu,Santa Monica...) We see almost nothing about Nevada,but I even liked this marvellous video of my dear America!!!



3. In 1995 I had just returned home from service in the United States Marines -four tough years in a regular infantry line unit. Except for NFL football games in the barracks with the constant roar of at least twenty guys at any given time, I hadn't seen TV in quite some time. The first thing that stopped me as I flipped through the channels upon my return to the peace and tranquility of civilian life was "Over America", then showing on PBS. I can't describe the power of that incredible coincidence. Thanks to everyone who worked on this superbly done and elegantly simple tribute to the United States. I should also mention with a smile that the stunning aerial perspective and something about that narration (another smile) helped suggest to me a return to service to fly jets.
