1. Massachusetts born and raised; I have spent all my childhood summers in Maine and have found great peace in the White Mountains and through New England. When asked if I wanted to share a recent weekend in the Vineyard, I was most excited as I had never been, to the amazement of my friends. To elicit the mood, a friend presented me with a copy of this video to view before my trip. I was instantly charmed; both by the history, as shared by a few genuine, homey islanders who have called this little paradise home from one generation to the next, to the viewing of the stunning splendor of the natural scenery. Well, I made my treasured journey upon the wonderful ferry ride as I left the stress of daily life behind. Friends toured me around the island; hooked, I fell in love. Coupled by the calming voice of the person who is telling the story, to the soothing folk backgound music, I recommend this to anyone who is either thinking of visiting or would like to give a gift of another part of New England to friends and family. I am now online to buy the Maine video for my family who now reside in Florida, as a remembrance of summers past! Thank you Mr. Jones!



2. I purchased this video in a bookstore on Cape Cod last summer and was disapointed. Though I admit no video or photograph can match the beauty of the Cape that I know, this video is both dated and technically rough around the edges. The content was a little superficial as well.

   Sorry, if this sounds superficial, but hopefully they'll update it.




3. This wouldn't be bad if it were done within the last ten years but it's so hopelessly out of date now that you're better off buying something more recent.



4. I bought this years ago, and it wasn't bad then. Wouldn't buy it now though. Of course there's not much here about Cape Cod.

1. I came home from work and 'happened upon' this video on PBA. I was instantly fascinated by it all; the views , the history, the movement..both of the train and the story..I didn't want it to end, just like some of the the "real,live" passengers didn't want their journey to end. I quickly made a couple of decisions...firstly, to get my own copy of the video(done!) and secondly,to get on that train and go there someday. In short, it is a romantic, believable,luxurious,educational, inspiring adventure..for those who have been and want to go again, as well as for those(like me) who have yet to go there. By the way,If I only get this video as a travel vehicle, that might just be enough! So,put on something comfy,get your favorite beverage,turn off the phone..and have a wonderful trip!



2. Saw this program on PBS last month. Have to have the video. (Can't wait for it to be delivered). The views, the train, everything seems so romantic. A must go trip. Sold out for 1999. I can't stop obsessing over this video!



3. There is only one thing better than viewing this video... ...actually taking the train trip. My husband and I viewed the show on PBS not once but twice. We could not get the show out of our minds and made reservations for this particular trip (there are a number of different ones). Everyone I spoke to (116 aboard this fall of 1999) who made the journey had first seen this video before planning to take the tour.

   Even if you cannot take the actual trip, buy the video and take an imaginary journey across the Rockies and into some of the most spectacular scenery you can ever imagine. Colorado Monument, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Columbia River Gorge in Portland, Oregon, are some of the sites you will view while you relax and dine on gourmet food.

   One of the most romantic escapes you could ever dream of. It is a smorgasbord of sensory and gastronomical delights. The friendly train crew anticipates and takes care of your every need before you realize you have them.

   This has to be one of the best travel videos ever produced. I am ordering one so I can revisit this fantastic trip any time I feel like having a great escape.




4. Saw this video on PBS and knew immediately I had to take a trip on this beautiful train. The trip from Denver, CO to Portland, OR was sold out far in advance but other wonderful trips were offered. I chose the Pacific Coast Explorer from Seattle, WA to Los Angeles and the trip exceeded my expectations. The train is so beautifully restored and the gourmet food is superb! The train is a destination in itself.

1. Excellent video. It brought back wonderful memories of my past trip to Ireland. It also gave me new ideas for my next trip. The video has a wonderful blend of lanscape, culture, and history. Unfortunately the video only covers four counties (Donegal, Dublin, Cork, and Kerry), but it covers them very well.
