  1. I watched this video a short back while after selecting from a stack of five videos I had collected to begin planning a trip to Italy in 2001. I selected this one to watch first, as I wanted to see a Bertalucci film the same evening and this one was relatively brief. I'd give it points for covering some of the lesser known areas of Tuscany and showing a map along the route as the "journey" through Tuscany progresses. The photography is nice, but not very exciting,(how can you miss with that countryside?), and some topics are almost too briefly touched on. But, if you haven't traveled to Tuscany before, or just want to get a better feel for some of the less known and not as frequently mentioned villages and towns this is a very good start. That's why they call the series "The Back Roads". It is not as slick or informative as Fodor's videos, but it is also not as expensive, I'm relatively sure. It is also more of a succint, but educational, thumbnail sketch of lesser known locations from a cultural, historical and geographic perspective. I did not purchase this video because I was able to check it out of my local library, but it has obviously been well-used and I do not think that the Amazon purchase price is at all unreasonable.

  1. Ian Wright hosts a great adventure through the Yukon and Alaska. The itinerary captures all that Alaska has to offer. There are wonderful scenes of glaciers, animals (especially bears), moutains, snow, lakes and ice. Also, Ian introduces the viewer to the interesting population of Alaska. From passport control to the town of Chicken, you will meet many faces of this huge "last frontier." The bears catching salmon are amazing. The flights over the Alaskan wilderness are magnificent. If you want more than a typical travel video, one with character and depth, this is the one. This a great view! You will be booking your next holiday to Alaska.

  1. I bought this tape to show my family how lovely is the state of Arizona; I just accepted a job in Tucson. What a dissapointment! The tape is long and boring. There are many minutes of pictures shown without any verbal comments, just an awful music going on and on. There is very little information on the history of the state and the lives of people who are there now. In conclusion, it looks to me that this tape was made in one day by a drive-by tourist. I am returning it.

  1. After viewing several times I find new things to see each time. The digital photography really makes a difference to the eye.

  2. A beautifully filmed video, I especially enjoy watching and listening to this video while working out on my crosstrainer, the minutes fly.
