  1. This was a really well done video, but seamed to focus too much on the temples and tourism spots, nightlife, blah blah blah as any other videomade back at this time. I was hoping for something alittle more currentas I read of this area and one day may go for business or pleasure. It may aswell have been filmed in 1962 and colorized but seams a good effort forenticing the tourism industry. Would like better one, more recent and more on cultural aspects, economic conditions and the people.

  2. This is the type of bare-bones video I remember snoozing through in junior high social studies class. If you know nothing whatsoever about Korea, this video would serve as a simple albeit dated introduction to the country and its major cities and regions. Because this was produced shortly after the 1988 Summer Olympics, it imparts the message that Korea has more pride in its Olympic athletic complex than its own historical culture. Please don't be fooled. If you are looking for any level of cultural enrichment, this is not your solution. Instead take a look at the PBS video "Hidden Korea."

  1. I certainly expected more. The tour of Chile and Easter Island was probably based on what others told the host. He missed the Chungara Lake (one of the highest in the world). There was little mention of the Lake Region in the South, a breath-taking scenery for Nature lovers. The host tries to keep us entertained with comments on the rodeo, the delicious Pisco sour, the long bus rides, etc. There is a problem with the person who added the music to the video... Chile is extremely rich in folklore, but no Chilean music accompanies the video. The video brings great memories of a beautiful country, but too much was left aside (beaches, rivers, the Andes! )

  2. This video, with its hilarious host, entertains you for 50 whole minutes!! its in depth look at Chile's culture and people give you a better understanding a respect for Chile's beautiul land!! if you are looking for other chilean movies, Check out JOHNNY 100 PESOS, and you won't be sorry!!

  1. Very educational and entertaining. A must for teachers and students.

  2. After coming back from Rome and Pompeii, we found this video very interesting, historically and entertainingly. The way the ancient cities are recreated with the computer animation is a plus. We would recommend it to anyone interested in history or traveling.

  3. Although this video is a nice survey of information about the cities, it's production value was mediocre at best, and the educational content was sparse. The presentation was monotonous and literally put my students to sleep. Even I was hard-pressed to keep my eyes open and I'm fascinated by the subject. There are too many better videos out there on the subject to waste your time here.

  4. Lots of good facts but very very boring!!

  5. This is a good video, very informative. It compares favorably with, for instance, National Geographic and Reader's Digest videos. The computer recreates of the ancient structures are good. When superimposed on the modern grounds, you can see it's artificial because the lighting is wrong. It would be nice if all ancient structures that can be restored and rebuilt are done so.
The video could have had normal color footage, instead of that faded black and white footage for the ancient everyday scenes.
At the end of the other video about Egypt, it says that there is a lot known, and unknown, about ancient Egypt. It would also apply to ancient Rome (and so on).
This Rome one is approximately 60 minutes, and could have been longer. The other two, Egypt and Greece, are approximately 75 minutes each. This Rome one could then have included the Pantheon in Rome, and Stabiae (by Vesuvious).
This series of 3 should also be available on DVD.
