5 comments about Costa Rica Adventures with Señor Rico.
- If you're preparing to take your chidren to Costa Rica, and they are under the age of 10, they will likely enjoy this videography. (Notice that most of the people that rave about this video are describing their kids' reactions).
If you're an adult preparing to travel to Costa Rica, A MUCH better overview of the country's geology, politics, economy, immigration, agriculture, ecological convservation, and social history is the the coffee-table book, "Costa Rica : The Last Country the Gods Made." It's got lotsa scenery, too, in the form of beautiful color pictures! (Of course, there's no little animated man jumping about...). Skip the cheese factor of Señor Rico. A much better buy for the money, and more solid content are the essays in Adrian Colesberry's and Brass McLean's book.
- We are planning a trip to Costa Rica and made the mistake of wasting money on this "stinkburger" video. If I had known what it was, I wouldn't have taken a free copy, much less purchased it. At first we thought the video was a joke, then we thought it was produced by those trying to dicourage travel to the country. Images included vultures picking at a fish carcass (they liked this seen so much they showed it twice), petty thieves, garbage and dilapidated buildings. My wife and I make better home movies than this. Memorable lines are "The sloth climbs down once a week to take a dump." That's right, they say dump. "The vultures are welcome in the city because they help get rid of all the garbage." "That bird has a long neck." and "I wouldn't want to be bitten by that." (after showing a closeup of a spider) We've been to their Web site and still can't figure out if they're a joke or not. The site looks professional and competent. Don't waste your time or money. I hope I can still convince my wife to go to Costa Rica.
- I gotta agree with the other reviewer; this is for 4-year-0lds ONLY and adults should peruse the best book I ever found about Costa Rica, and that's the coffee table book, "Costa Rica: the last country the gods made."
Really, Amazon should be embarrassed to be selling this!
- I agree with the poor reviews. This has got to be a joke that was slipped by the Amazon buyers. This is worse than a home movie you are forced to watch in a room of teenagers you don't know, because you PAID for it! I will demand my money back.
- This is one of the funniest travel video's you will ever see. It is a spoof on travel video industry while actually teaching you a bit about Costa Rica. It is for the person looking to have fun while learning. It is not for the serious minded individual. I enjoyed this approach to video travel documentary. It demonstrated great creativity on Mr. Richman's part. I would recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy their travel planning.

- You'll travel on very nice trains, in this DVD, and see interesting parts of the world. As one might expect, the DVD falls a little short in its depiction of the cities that are visited, because the focus is on the train ride and what can be seen from the train. You'll occasionally ride up front with the conductor, go through tunnels, over high bridges, alongside rivers, and should enjoy the view. Bon voyage!
- This is a very interesting video introducing famous railway lines in Europe. This is one of the three video series of "Travel the world by train Europe." I myself have travelled some of the railways introduced in this video and this video reminded me of good memories of my former trips in Europe. This video is highly recommendable for people who like travelling in Europe. I have to add that this video format (NTSC) is also accepted by Japanese video players. I have bought all of the three videos of "Travel the world by train Europe" series. Interestingly, this video was produced by "TV Asahi," Tokyo, Japan. We have a similar TV program series in Japan introducing railways all over the world.
- The far more sensible title for this dvd is "Food Served on Trains", because most of the video shows the sequential serving of various foods on various trains in various countries! I expected from the title that I will get a view of the places around the train routes as the journey continues, but totally disappointed. If you are a food lover, you might like this dvd ;-)

- Fantastic cast (JOHN SAXON, BASIL RATHBONE, JUDI MEREDITH, and DENNIS HOPPER.) This formula program uses a standard threat that you have seen from the old 50's sci-fi and even pops up now and then today. Check out the 1990 technology such as a reel-to-reel tape recorder of which many of today's viewers have never seen. If you only had $50,000 to make a movie you would bring your home tape recorder also.
In the year 1990 a technically advanced society has crash-landed on Mars just prior to our plans to go there. We sped up the process to see if we could help the survivors. I will not go into details however at one point the female alien (Florence Marly) looks up and find the female astronaut owns three male food containers and she is green with envy. What great threat can this being pose to earth? Worse still she seems to have her eye on a young Dennis Hopper.
Reluctant Debutante - JOHN SAXON
