  1. This is the perfect DVD. It comes with 8 episodes and it really seems that we are traveling with her.
Samantha Brown is unique, nobody can inspire you to travel as she can.
I hope that Travel Channel will launch DVD's for all episodes of Passport to Europe.

  2. Samantha Brown's approch to travel is perky and enthusiastic. The four episodes in France and four in Italy give you a good short peek at these two countries. Watching what goes on in the background of scenes also prepares you for how to dress and what to expect on the street in Europe.

  3. I love this series. Samantha Brown is the perfect travelling companion. Her energy, excitement, and joy never fail. The shows hit a perfect balance between tourist info and intimate charm. I know Paris very well, and I agree with her observations about Paris, which makes me trust her when she is traveling in other parts of the world that I do not know (like Italy). Highlights on this DVD include: the two Paris eps (of course), an achingly beautiful fairy-tale village and hotel featured in the Cote d'Azur episode, and the Florence ep. I also should note that Samantha Brown travels in style. This is not Europe on a shoestring. Personnally, I love living vicariously through her. The beautiful hotels make this show all the more fun.
I recommend it to all who love to travel and dream and laugh.

  4. This is a great travel video. Samantha has a wonderful way of connecting with her audience and she makes it fun. Sometimes I wish she would show more of the visit. It's like a virtual trip when you can't get there in person.

  1. I have never been to England or Ireland, but this show has made that trip a priority on my list. The eps "English Countryside" and "Ireland Coast" are like magical fairy tales. I've seen probably every ep of Passport to Europe, and these British eps (along w/ Austria and Switzerland) are my favorites. Samantha as always is a charming host. Her sense of humor is great and these eps are particularly fun because there is no language barrier between her and the locals. Every interaction will make you smile and most will make you laugh. These episodes are whimsical, witty, wonderful...if you are armchair traveling, this is the trip you want to take.

  2. Brown does it again, brings back familar travel experiences abroad and introduces me to new areas of countries I once explored in person. The UK is a must visit, but buyer beware-the USD to sterling pound exchange rate is a killer!!! Enjoy the trip without leaving your home, cheers.

  3. I enjoyed this travel DVD, and certainly would recommend it to anyone wishing to travel to Europe, to see things and go to places off the tourist route. Her Americanism is not annoying, and you do get a laugh at some of her comments. She mingles with the locals in all regions, takes you to enjoyable places to eat and drink, and talks about the accommodation and gives prices. She choses the middle to upper types of accommodation in each region, as she travelled in the low season.
I can understand why she was awarded the Emmy for 'Outstanding Lifestyle Directing".

  4. (and boy are her legs tired?)
If you like Samantha, you will love her travel videos of England, Ireland, and Scotland.

  5. i really enjoy samantha brown, and i first checked these out from the library before we planned our trip. when we got back, i bought it because we went to so many of the places she tours in the video. it was really fun at that point, to watch it and say, 'we were there!'

she does a good job of having fun and being perky without being obnoxious, or overdoing it.

  1. Ever watch a movie that you really enjoyed from a long time ago and even though you have so much issues with it, you almost defend it anyway? One such film was "Jumanji" where the special effects have aged considerably since its release but the charm and even spectacle of it all makes it better even while you might scoff many times. Well essentially we have that movie set in space with this film, a "Jumanji: The Galaxy Edition" if you will, and while the similarities are quite obvious and the effects have gotten better, it still feels to familiar though kids might have a blast with it.

Walter and Danny are 2 brothers dealing with their parent's divorce and father's working. Walter wants attention from his dad to play catch and wants nothing to do with his brother while Danny just wants his brother to play with him. But with dad gone and sister upstairs sleeping, they learn to work together when Danny finds a board game called "Zathura" that brings with it meteor showers and the house flying through space complete with strange and dangerous events every time one takes a turn.

Yeah, you can see the parellels to Jumanji already huh? The board game, reading the next event (off a card instead of a glass center, the dealings with a cheater and someone who escapes from the game because of a roll, sorry...button press) and if you remember what happens when someone wins the board game in the other one well you can tell what's in this one. But aside from the similarities, the problem is the film is kind of - but not all the time - irritating, mainly due to the brother's. They spent so much time bickering and arguing that Tim Robbin's exasperation early on doesn't seem like an overreaction at all. While there's lots to ogle at, the characters themselves just don't have a lot of appeal.

However, the film certainly looks great to look at with an early meteor shower, an encounter to close to a star and the end sequence being highlights. Since a good chunk of it was done without just going straight to the computers was everything is welcome. The acting when it's not being grating, works and looking at Kristen Stewart any chance I can made the film better but the lack of suspense throughout the whole film and just being little mini-episodes till the end hurts and the "villain" doesn't have a real sense of threat Jonathan Hyde brought to Jumanji. But I'm nitpicking and I certainly don't want to seem like I'm making that film to be perfectly awesome but when compared to this one, what it lacks in effects makes up for it in key areas.

I'd recommend Zathura since ultimately it is a family movie and such criticisms tend to get thrown out the door when you watch but when you start really watching, then stuff gets noticed. So it's best to just go along with it.

  2. I never write reviews, but how could I resist when this request appeared on my e-mail? My three-year-old son called me a "bi-atch" the other day. I was shocked -- we don't even have TV! After questioning his teachers at school, I gave up on finding the source until I heard this movie play in our van. The first thing Walter says to his robot is, "Get me a juice box, bi-atch." I also have to point out that Sammy screams, "You're such a dick" to his brother in the first 20 minutes of the movie. Now why on earth would they have to ruin such a good movie with two words?

  3. Once again Hollywood has chosen to ruin a potentially good family/childrens movie by including foul vulgar language. How some can label this as a good family movie is beyond me. I have higher standards and values for my family I guess. Yes this is suppose to be a Jumanji sequel but unfortunately Zathura was made in todays society where the norms of lewd vulgar and profanity are being accepted as healthy family values. This society is sicko.

  4. My kids LOVE!!!!! this movie. Except for a slightly scary part in the middle, my 6 year old twins have watched this movie over and over and over again for the past 2 weeks. My son is AOK with the ZORGON creatures, but my daughter has to leave the room for a short time when they appear. Otherwise, I would recommend watching this movie for yourself in order to better judge the reaction your own child will have to the ZORGON's. ENJOY

  5. This is a great family movie! Has all the elements to keep you glued to your seat - from beginning to end. Even adults will find themselves happy they tuned in....So get the snacks ready and settle in for an awesome movie! The story - without giving away too much - is about two brothers who find themselves with an old board game that the younger brother is anxious to play while the older one begrudgingly agrees to play - with much complaining. Parents are gone for the evening and an older sister - who is supposedly babysitting, has better "teenage" things to do in her room (no worries, everything is clean in this movie)...
Well, once the board game begins, all chaos breaks loose! There's everything that makes a great movie GREAT! Explosions, fighting, monsters, heros! The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat! The acting is excellent without the heavy egos of the top celebrity names. I've heard there's a copy cat movie called Jumnji, haven't seen it, nor do I have any plans to see it. This is one rare family movie that really captures all the great adventures into one fantastic story.

  1. This is one of the very best things I have ever seen Kathleen Turner and Nicholas Cage in. Peggy Sue Got Married is a romantic time traveling twist on that point in all of our lives when we have one of those "if only I knew then what I know now" moments. In Peggy Sue's case, that second chance happens at her high school reunion. Can she change things? Is her fate out of her hands? Watch this charming, funny and poignant little movie to find out. And the mucic is really good, too.

  2. Ok, let me start off by saying that I definately feel that Peggy Sue Got Married is your classic "chick flick". It has all the elements that women love, and men can't understand.

Peggy Sue is divorced from her high school sweetheart Charlie, and is very unhappy, but finds herself going with her daughter to her high school reunion anyways. She faints and when she wakes up she is back in high school in 1960!

She keeps trying to break up with Charlie, since she knows how their future ends up; but Charlie refuses (how romantic).

All in all she remembers why it was that she loved Charlie, and realizes that no matter what they are destined to be together. When she returns to the present Charlie is there and apologizes for everything they have been through and wants to try to work things out.

This is one of the best endings to a movie. Her going back in time didn't change anything, but made her realize that she and Charlie belong together. It doesn't erase everything they have gone through, but when she wakes up she is ready to try again, as is Charlie. It didn't magically erase their life and trials and create some fake happy-go-lucky, corny ending... but gave a (somewhat..) realistic ending.

    An excellent, excellent movie!!

  3. I love this movie...I love it because it lets me go back to 'visit' my Grandmother, who I miss every day of my life. But when I am watching this movie, I am somehow with her again, even if only for a few moments. It also lets me be a 'kid' again...remembering a time long gone by, but never quite forgotten. For me, this is a movie sprinkled with tears but rich with wonderful memories of yesterday. Let's face it, we all would love to go back to a previous time and place, even if just for a moment. This movie is the next best thing.

  4. "Peggy Sue Got Married" is a classic. It is a great, funny and cute film. Who would have thought that Coppola could produce something as good as this and do it successfully. Peggy Sue is going to her high school reunion. She hits her head and revisits her high school days. Peggy Sue has a choice, travel the once traveled path (get pregnant young and end in a broken marriage) or take the alternate route. Will she follow her heart or her head? Will she rediscover love? This is a great film. Kathleen Turner is great in it as the too- mature- for- her- age- because- she- has- already- lived- it-teenager and Nicholas Cage is great at playing the brainless, funny and just about confused teenager and adult. This is one of the only Nicholas Cage movies I like. The film is succeeds because it has great character development and a very well carried out storyline. It is a movie that is good to this day.

  5. Takes me back to the 80's! Love seeing Nick Cage so young - along with Jim Carrey. Great to think "What if...."

The pokeshort was funny.A goodmovie next to the first 3.

  2. This movie is about celebi captured by the iron masked maruder.
when sam finds himself almost concius inside a twig monster, there goes it!and he just evolved a huge mtagross into bad monsters.
how did celebi get caught?even it's so powerful,it can't be captured by a master ball. it's caught by a dark ball!
    Nothing is known about 'em.
    See? Look:
    Deatails:
    Type:??????
    Ability???????
    Strength???????
and then, the iron masked maruder is a part of team rocket!
the boy half of team rocket is:james! he got knocked off a branch, with the other team rocket members, jessie and meowth.
also fellow trainers, misty, ash, brock and pikachu got knocked off.
and sam finds himself in a forest full of butterfree with
    stun spores!

pikachu also has a hide - and - seek game in the bonus movie,
but his whole crowd of pokemon playing are interupted by a huge
mowing machine pushed by meowth.after that,he pushed along and falls into a chimney.but the mowing machine popped his ballon off
with wobbuffet! the pokemon are chased in a hedge maze by the huge mowing machine.
the pokemon threw the mowing machine into water, but it came back up, chasing them. they tried their attacks, but it would not work.
    See my Pokemon 3 review!

  3. I love Pokemon. The good guys always win and the bad guys always learn a lesson and often times help the good guys out, sometimes without even knowing it. Plus, anything that keeps my daughter entertained is wonderful. My daughter fell in love with Pokemon at 4 years old and is now 12 and still loves it. This movie has gotten alot of use in our household.

  4. This is my official Pokemon movie review part 5 of 10. Pokemon 4ever was not the movie that it's predecessors had been. While I watched this I was thinking about it being a real long television episode. This is partially biased due to my dislike of cute legendary Pokemon. I think their plots really dwindle. Although Suicune is one of my favorites I think a little more air time with him would have been more exciting. I was thinking delving deeper into a connection between Suicune and Celebi.

  5. This was a great movie for the whole family. We all enjoyed it very much. The kids watch it over and over and still love it. I would definitly recommend to any family who is intrested in Pokemon.

  1. I liked it more 35 years ago, but it is still amazing how well it describes the engineering problem of maintenance under time pressure by ignorant management

  2. "Dark Star" isn't a movie version of the beloved Grateful Dead song (just as "The Passenger" isn't a Phil Lesh biopic). It's John Carpenter's directorial debut, a darkly hilarious comedy about boredom in space. It was made on a shoestring budget, and rightly shines as a low-budget classic. A crew of planet destroyers have gotten incredibly bored. One longs for surfing. Another is in the deep freeze. Yet another contends with an alien that looks like a giant inflatable beach ball. There's an angsty bomb.

"Dark Star" doesn't idealize life in deep space. It's a look at boredom, existential and otherwise. It's funny as well. Let it shine!

  3. I first saw "Dark Star" at a mid-1970s sci-fi convention, not long after it had come out. I was a kid back then, but I was instantly hooked, and 30+ years later I still appreciate the intelligence and mordant, dark humor of the script. The film is decidedly anti-establishment, with a crew of shaggy, longhaired astronauts working as science grunts for an expanding galactic empire, blowing up "unstable" planets to clear a path for colonization.

Although people often compare it to "Star Wars" (which came out a few years later), "Dark Star" is much more a precursor of the "Aliens" series, in which everyday people work for and chafe against vast, anonymous, amoral bureaucracies. As in the "Aliens" films, the crew of the Dark Star live in a cramped, sweaty, claustrophobic environs, where the vacuum of space is filled with frustration and paranoia. The confrontation with the damaged, sentient thermonuclear explosive recalls, of course, HAL in Stanley Kubrick's "2001," but whereas "2001" was a very serious film, with Kubrick seeking to blow people's minds with his kaleidoscopic filmmaking, "Dark Star" is a satire, tempered by dark comedy and outright farce. It's a very funny, very intelligent film, definitely worth picking up! (Joe Sixpack, Slipcue film reviews)

  4. Who says you have to have a big budget to make a very funny 70's Sci-Fi movie spoof. The instrument panel on the spacecraft was egg cartons with lighting underneath. I have not seen many films before or since where the space alien is an oversized beach ball. And, as a surfer, I loved the ending. But I'm not telling. If you want to know how it ends, buy the DVD.

This would be a cult classic even if it had not been done by John Carpenter. Brian Narelle is now an Emmy award winning television writer and an illustrator/cartoonist.

  5. Four seventies style burn outs roam the galaxy in what seems like a weaponized version of a Volkswagen bus searching for unstable planets. Their government mission to destroy these planets with the help of a HAL style computer (undoubtedly running MS) and artificially intelligent bombs.

Anyone remembering the cartoon Colonel Bleep might appreciate Dark Star for the same reason Frank Zappa might have enjoyed it... cheepnis. Dark Star drips cheepnis from the special effects to the choice of monster (pet actually).

The attitude taken by every facet of artificial intelligence (you can't have self realization without attitude) is similar to that of bureaucrats throughout the centuries and typical of today's corpopath. It's very difficult to argue with artificial intelligence as anyone ever having dealt with a government employee can tell you. When you're in space no one can hear you scream... or curse. Easily as disorganized and unaccountable (even to itself) as any 'official' operation Dark Star's mission should be a belly laugh for anyone ever having to argue with an automatic banking machine for their money or otherwise discuss reality with an electronic entity.

    The biological intelligences consist of:

Boder - disinterested, self obsessed Texan style narcissist
Pinback - insecure and friendless, overweight, neurotic, arrested adolescent
Doolittle - lieutenant leader who spends time reminiscing his surfing day in Malibu
Talby - reclusive, philosophical observations/navigational officer
pet alien - mischievous beach ball with claws

The discussion with the smart bomb regarding Phenomenology is priceless.

"What is the one purpose in life?"

    "To explode of course!"

If computers and artificial intelligence ever discover religion and decide to become born again we're in very serious trouble.

  1. Mission To Mars DVD

I stumbled on this movie by accident. I'm glad that I did. Normally Hollywood does a poor job creating Science Fiction movies. In my opinion this is the best Science Fiction movie since 2001 - A Space Odyssey (Two-Disc Special Edition)2001:.

Brian DePalma or someone on his staff must read Science Fiction. All the typical mistakes are not made, such as making space ships that are aerodynamic(there's no air in space, so what's the point ) I doubt that they'd ever enter an atmosphere either.

    A highly entertaining movie,

Recommended for fans of Gary Sinise and Science Fiction movies.

    Gunner February, 2008

  2. The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because it's only intangibles, ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die.

    CHUCK PALAHNIUK, Choke

I read many of the negative reviews, and had to ask myself who are these so called critics? I believe this movie is science fiction, I think those guys have outgrown their imagination and that is tragic at best!!

I really enjoyed the movie the actors were fun, it took you through many different emotions and let you use your imagination to the possiblilites
of what if- isn't that was a good movie is supposed to do?

  3. Ok, it's not Star Wars or Signs, but it's still a good movie. My husband thinks I've lost my mind but I still like it anyway. Maybe it's because it reminds of those old 1950's classics like "The Day The Earth Stood Still." :) Even the music is bizarre - LOL! But for some reason I do love this movie- ha!! It will go into my "classics" collection :) Also I really liked Jerry O'Connell as Phil, Tim Robbins and Gary Sinise. All excellent actors. :) If there was a movie worse than this, it is "Red Planet" with Val Kilmer. Val was better as Doc Holliday in "Tombstone."

  4. Ughh! I feel sorry for all of the amazing talent involved in this film. Every one of the actors, the director & composer are capable of solid work and it does not show one bit. It painful to watch as cliche after cliche is SLOWLY marched before you to wonder over. There are so many holes in this story's logic. The main violation is the script, but I feel the direction for this was just off as well. Disney's rediculous RocketMan about a trip to Mars is a much better film (and that's as silly as a film can get).

  5. I just watched my library's copy of this last night. My first time seeing it,and I think it's a great Sci-Fi movie.Very original, interesting, and 'surprising' story.

I enjoyed everything about it,except the music is really lame.

It is well worth the time to watch.

  1. "The Dish" is a gentle look at the impact of perhaps the greatest achievement of mankind in the 20th Century, viewed through the eyes of a small town and a handful of technicians. For all of the power and technical wizardry that was Apollo, this movie reduces the unfathomably complex event to human scale. Central characters include a quiet, professorial dreamer, a working-class technician, a love-struck mathematician, and a NASA representative who cooperates in a bit of deception. Townsfolk consist of well-drawn characters, who were they not Australian, could have been drawn by Norman Rockwell.

Often "small" movies that lacked major studio promotion escape our attention. This is one that you will find warm, funny, and uplifting. "The Dish" is a small gem of a movie that deserves to be in your collection.

  2. I recently saw this movie on cable and didn't expect much from it. The caption listed the movie as a comedy and I found this unusual especially since Sam Neill was playing the lead role. So I took it with a grain of salt and plopped myself down one evening to watch it.

While I was expecting a slap-stick cheesy comedy, I found instead a light hearted drama based on a different side of a famous historical event that I and perhaps many don't know about.

In a nutshell, the movie centers around the going on events at the Parkes Observatory in Australia during the events of the July 1969 moon walk. The movie gives and excellent perspective of those events, seen from the people that actually captured the transmission via Parkes' enormous 200' diameter radio receiver. What more is what effect this world riveting event had on the small town of Parkes.

The movie does take a light hearted side to this roll and it does remind us that these people who ran the Parkes installation were human and capable of error. While the events may not be all factual, it does heighten the interest in the movie.

While the movie is less of a comedy than stated, there are instances that did get a chuckle out of me. The movie did start out by showing that the Parkes installation is in the midst of a sheep paddock and that did give me a good laugh because of the irony that Parkes is located in South Wales and back in England's Wales, there is a roller coaster (Megaphobia) also built in a farm animal paddock where there is no amusement park in sight. So as they said in the movie as well as in real life, it makes one wonder...why build such a large radio antenna in that location.

There are other humorous moments as well but I will not delve into details here as to give away spoilers. But I will say that the movie is more drama than comedy.

The movie did go to great lengths to feature its main attraction in glorious detail, which is the Parkes Observatory Dish itself. The camera angles do justice in exemplifying the shear size of the antenna dish.

Finally is the coverage of the moon landing and moon walk itself, which is excellently put together towards the end of the movie.

After seeing the movie, I was amazed to find out that much of it is very true. There are several levels of poetic license thrown in for good measure as the story IS fiction but centers around true events. There are some historical inaccuracies in minor events (which again I will not give away due to the fact that it may be considered a spoiler). But those inaccuracies would only be given away by those that really know their history.

The soundtrack for the movie is also excellent. They picked out a good selection of songs that you don't hear often today, but were popular back then. So kudos to the producer for that move instead of hammering out songs that are constantly played on the radio (from that era).

All in all, the movie is a must see and is an enjoyable experience.

  3. This is a movie about the crew who mans a gigantic dish antennea out in the boonies in Australia. They have been recruited to provide help in receiving transmissions from Apollo 11 as it attempts to land on the moon. The landing is the focal point of the story, but what is really going on here is the charming story of the local people manning the dish, plus one American from NASA, as they get ready for the big event.

It is truly one of those small little movies that you get lucky sometimes and hit on television at the beginning at like two in the morning not expecting it to be anything...and then you find out, to your delight, that it is something...warm, moving, funny and human.

  4. This is a gem of a movie. Great characters well acted without overdoing any quirkiness, no strain to be BIG. As someone who remembers exactly where I was when Man landed on the moon... this film brings back the wonder while also educating about a little known aspect of the work behind the scenes. Sam Neill acts with his usual understated but dead on gifts, Patrick Warburtan is a great surprise and all the actors blend well. This little movie about a big event is perfect in every way.

  5. This film, although critically aclaimed, does not (yet?) have the following it deserves! Based on actual events, and very suitable for family viewing (even educational!), THE DISH is a warmhearted look at how a small town in Australia deals with having a world-wide spotlight focused on it while dealing with technical upheavals.

The event is America's first lunar landing. The satellite dish of the title is located in the middle of a sheep paddock in rural Australia, and is the only one of a handful of facilities capable of relaying video footage from the moon. Admittedly, this sounds pretty small now, but in 1969, this was heady stuff. The DISH personnel, the townspeople, the VIPs who flooded in for the occasion are all wonderfully represented.

Sam Neill heads a cast of character actors all of whom turn in perfect performances. Patrick Warburton, known as Agent T in Men in Black II - among other roles, is terrific as the NASA 'expert' regarded by the locals as a stuffed shirt. And the scenes of the crew playing cricket are priceless.

I rented THE DISH for two reasons: I well remember the moon landing, and I enjoy watching Sam Neill work. I was very pleased on both counts. It may remain a 'best kept secret' in an age when films seem to be bent on outdoing each other with action, gore, and special effects. I sincerely hope not - this is worth watching more than once.

Overall, the film - which does have a few tense moments - is a gem that depicts ordinary people reacting to some very extraordinary circumstances. It's gentle comedy makes its point. Low key? Yes. Boring? NO! It's nice to see the good guys finish FIRST!

  1. This is currently my children's favorite movie. Best movie released by Disney in years. The Blu-Ray version that I purchased is definitely a "Show Piece" title for Blu-Ray in both picture and audio quality.

  2. I LOVE this movie. I don't often purchase DVDs, I rented this from Blockbuster b/c my wife likes animated films and I probably heard something on the news about it. I know I don't remember this getting much advertisement. I bought this DVD because it's awesome. I can't believe how many deprived people in this world haven't seen this awesome film. Lots of laughs, fun, and legitimate family values points. No romance!!! The kid isn't trying to hook up with some Disney-fied beauty queen, he wants a family. Works out pretty well, plus I'm a sci-fi fan. Highly recommended.

  3. I bought this movie on a whim and wasn't really looking for it being very good due to the trailers I'd seen. It just looked strange and plotless from the impression I got from the trailer. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watch this movie! The music is great, Danny Elfman does a great job and brings out a lot of emotion with the music, but this story isn't music dependent it just adds to it, like it should. The visuals are incredible, we've come a long way in this CGI world and in Blu-Ray this does become a world in itself especially in the future scenes , and the main plot is heartwarming. I tell everyone that this is my new favorite movie.

The Robinson family is eccentric yes, and maybe a little unbelievable, but hey, this is fiction! Only in this movie can a wife be just a puppet some how come off as understandable and there are some who may not be able to handle the zaniness, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. Not everything in life has to be so serious all the time and completely based in reality. Some people have mentioned thinking that young kids won't like this movie, but that is totally incorrect! My four children are 6, 4, 3, and 1 they want to watch this movie at least once a week. Maybe they don't get the whole plot, but they enjoy the adventure and just take it for what it is. I love all of the main characters, even the bad guy is one of the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. He's stupidly funny that makes the kids laugh and not be scared of him, but still know he's not a good guy either.

The plot about Louis not having a family is touching. I think that the movie really lets you feel and know what it's like to be a little boy without a mom or dad. I loved how it showed that family is really an important thing in people's lives in general and even seemingly crazy and chaotic families can still be loving and have a lot to offer. There was also a message about personal responsibility that really hit home too. It's just a short little statement, but it said so much. Basically the point was sometimes bad things happen to you caused by other people, but you're responsible for what and how you react to that problem, you can chose to let it fester and turn you into an angry, bitter person or you can choose to let it go... and keep moving forward.

I really appreciated the theme of "Keep Moving Forward" I think a lot of people struggle with their failures, but just like Thomas Edison making the lightblub, through our failures we still learn and learn what NOT to do which is sometimes just as important. I think of this phrase a lot in my own personal life when something comes to a failure. Never thought that I'd get all of this from a kids movie from Disney.

I've been very disappointed with Disney for a long time minus the Pixar movies. This was a new and fresh offering from Disney in a very, very long time. I wish they would have sold this movie for what it actually offers you in the trailers. I guess reviews of movies help you find hidden treasures like this one. I am glad I took a gamble on getting this for my kids. This has way more to offer than you'd ever expect... and maybe even a tear or two at the end, if you're like me.

  4. I suppose this is a good one for the kids 10 and under but for adults it is barley bearable. I enjoyed Monster House and Ratatoie much more than this one.

  5. Great little movie. I'm surprised it didn't get better reviews. Kids and adults liked it. Check it out, good addition to your movie library.

  1. In a measure of full discloser, I have never seen an episode of Tripping the Rift, or could even tell you what channel it is on, before checking out the aptly titled Tripping the Rift: The Movie. So this review is from that point of view and if you are a longtime fan of the show you may want to skip this review.

For those that haven't seen the show, it wants to believe it is South Park meets Star Trek in that the characters are fowl mouthed in a setting of space. But the planets that they visit should look familiar because they are all based on pop culture. First the crew head to a black and white setting reminiscent of the old Frankenstein, followed by trips to an Indiana Jones themed planet before going low key on Hysteria Lane surround by desperate, albeit green, housewives.

The lead cartoon Chode (voiced by Office Space's Stephen Root) is your typical purple captain who cares more about sex than, well, just about everything else combines. Which could explain the inclusion of Six (voiced by Singled Out's Jenny McCarthy) in the crew, a sex slave cyborg. Rounding out the rest of the crew is Chode's inept nephew Whip, T'nuk, who sounds like a combination of every lunch lady ever (prudes and females in general may not want to spell her name backwards), and the ambiguously gay robot Gus. Although they should have learned from Ace and Gary, ambiguously gay dudes are much funnier in pairs.

Also thrown in the mix for the movie is a killer robot clown from the future sent back in time to kill Chode. Yes this is an obvious Terminator reference, but instead of going into a biker bar to get cloths, it is a bar that launches plenty of Gus jokes. There are plenty of decent laughs throughout the movie that it almost makes me want to hunt down where the television show airs. Almost.

  2. Tired of waiting to see when season 3 will be release, and this dvd
disguised as a movie will fills the void pretty good at a great cheap
price. Was it interesting....sure it was...and im glad i got it ..and
will get season 3 if they ever release it on dvd.

  3. the graphics are top notch and the storyline is pretty interesting. The problem is that it isn't just that funny. Really, the only reason why people watch is for the giant ***** of the main girl character, the robot woman. That's it. If you like the show, you'll love this. If not, pass.

  4. Combine Star Wars, Star Trek and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (The books ) with soft porn and you have Tripping the Rift:The movie.

This animated feature should have been put on Sci Fi Channel, but the suggestiveness would been too strong for American TV.

To reveal the plot would spoil the fun for you who would buy and watch this satire. Lets just say our heroes need to protect a bratty foul mouth Princess..and let your imaginations run wild with their antics

This funny satire spoofs and parodies everyone and everything science fiction and fantasy with charm of a BULL ELPHANT..But that is what makes this film something to get. and that alone is why you should get the series and this movie on DVD

  5. Speaking as someone who actually likes Tripping The Rift....don't waste your time on this worthless piece of garbage. It's three separate episodes shoddily slapped together, and isn't even CLOSE to being as funny as the regular series is. It's sad how poorly done this was. Talk about slapping something together to try and cash in while something is hot, this is the absolute worst. Go back and watch Season 1 again....
