1 comments about The Nude Traveller Nude In French Polynesia.
- This film really acts more like an infomercial for the cruise, with a few of those classic full-ship shots showing the cruise-line name etc, than a trip to French Polynesia, nude cruising not withstanding. It is done well though, without making a big deal that a select group of travelers are in the buff. We're taken to a series of islands and shown a nice variety of sights and sounds that one might expect to be seeing. A few interviews with guests aboard bring us back into infomercial-mode at times as they are praising the cruise-line. This could be expected, although it seemed a bit much. Scenes throughout the islands are beautifully shown, and I got a good feeling for what I might expect to be seeing if I was along.

1 comments about Secrets of Niagara Falls.
- I'm a tour operator and this DVD provided an excellent overview of Niagara Falls which helped me prepare for my recent visit. Typically I'm quite bored by documentaries, but this DVD held my interest. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play the DVD on the motorcoach due to a technical problem. Had I been able to show it, however, I know that it would have been of great interest to my customers.

1 comments about Daylight The Most Beautiful Train In The World.
- I bought this DVD after watching the program on PBS. Since my family has very close ties to the Southern Pacific Railroad, I thought my mother would enjoy seeing this program. She absolutely loved it and told us of the many times she and my dad had ridden that train. It brought back beautiful memories for her.

2 comments about Most Haunted Season 1 - Episode 46: Ancient Ram Inn.
- This is the scariest Most Haunted episode. If you're new to the show make it a point to see this one.I'm getting freaked out just writing about it.Sleep tight!
- This is the one episode from season 1 (or any other season for that matter) that is the experience with the Most Haunted team which you will never forget. IMO, this particular investigation is easily the most terrifying episode and my personal favourite! The Ancient Ram Inn is infested by Satanic active spirits that actually attack one of the team members. The quality of the DVD is very good and this one episode is worth the price of ownership. Having previously seen it on the "Tellie", I could not live without it. If you are likely to buy one of these DVDs from the first season, episode 46 is the one to own. OK, I'm off to change my shorts now...

5 comments about The Discoverers (IMAX) (2-Disc WMVHD Edition).
- I have pretty much all of the WMVHD disks (including the more obscure ones like Muffin Man and Step Into Liquid). The film transfer of this title isn't as crisp as the other IMAX titles, and in general, the cinematography is not as stunning. Still nice, but it just doesn't compare to the others. The story line is a little campy, but they do a good job of covering a lot of ground, from 1600's to the future, showing how explorers risk everything to break new ground.
- I didn't know there's such thing as a bad IMAX movie until I came across this.
- As many have said, this was not the best IMAX movie ever made.
I wanted a copy for myself because I have a 10 second cameo in this movie (am I vain?). I worked on the Magellan Venus Radar Mapper project at JPL, and helped generate the images that went into the simulated flight over the surface of Venus. This was probably the only part of the whole movie worth seeing. My coworkers and I were invited to see this movie at its first public showing at the IMAX theater in LA. I was blown away by the simulated flight segment, even though I had seen it many times before in our labs. Even so, I found it difficult to spend money on this weak piece of work.
With my apologies to Greg MacGillivray.
- I was suprised at the negative reviews... more like I was SHOCKED! I don't get it, why are people saying it was "disjointed?" It flowed together like visual, symbolic, intellectual poetry! It was simply beautiful. If you are not that erudite, it might not make sense to you. This was high art. the imagery of the cave paintings found by a curious child meshed like the painting of a great master with the dolphins learning and perceiving symbolic imagery on a television screen under water. The sheer genius of that alone had me on the verge of tears... A beautiful message of the soul is how I would describe this film in one sentence. The part about Isaac Newton shows his unique eclectic reason and insatiable logic and curiousity better than 1000 words ever could! They did not call him "the Lion" for nothing!
An amazing film. Absolutely loved it. The connections between the stories are supposed to be made in YOU. which, again is a reflection of the basic thesis of the film. A beautiful echo. Very poetic.
- IMAX being the large film format that it is, This CLASSIC film will make you wonder about the world around you, and beyond you. It is a classic film, and hopefully this will be available in BD format. All IMAX films distributed on BD format will be the closest thing in your home theater to the REAL IMAX experiance in the IMAX theater. For more info visit [...] Until then Future Thrill Seekers...

5 comments about Windham Hill - Water's Path.
- KEEP IN MIND: THIS SELECTION APPEARS IN "SPECIAL INTERESTS"!
Now, with that under our belts, the technology involved in the making of the first four Windham Hill music videos, (and that is what they truly are), was direct-to-digital audio and video "nailed" to a laserdisk and presented to the public. New Age music and unique complimentary video presentations will have you relaxed in less than ten minutes. The music is soothing and the pictures have far more eye appeal than a travelogue. No story; no plot; just eye-ear choreography guaranteed to satisfy.
- Well,I am a fan of the Autumn Portrait DVD, and I must say that this here Water's Edge is no Autumn Portrait. Lots of industial oriented landscapes. Huge oil tanker looking boat scene was a bit much, not to mention long scenes of a bridges with cars passing by. Given all the scenes were on "the waters edge", but just not enough nature for me.Music was great as always and what nature scenes it does have are wonderfull.......
- I enjoy environmental CDs, usually rain or ocean waves. Although I've had CDs with music in addition to the natural sounds, I've usually found them a little repetitious. They're not something one can put on repeat and play continuously in the background. I got Water's Path because I thought it might provide a visual input missing from the environmental CDs. The music did in fact produce a sense of monotony, almost irritation, but the scenes were lovely. I play the film on a 52 inch screen, so it's almost like looking out of a window. When I find the music too much to deal with, I put the sound on mute.
- I have the entire series of Windham Hill DVDs, and I believe this is my favorite as far as beauty and serenity for promoting relaxation. Those who use white noise and sound conditioning to help with rest might find this useful to watch while trying to induce sleep. As with all of the videos in this series, the scenery is exquisite and the music flawless with very peaceful and smooth transitions between the pieces. However, I live in a part of Texas that has frequent drought; and the water theme is definitely something I cling to in times of desperation so this may have something to do with my choice of Water's Path as favorite.
J.H. Sweet, author of The Fairy Chronicles
- I rented this video in the early-nineties and appreciated it very much for its relaxation value for me. I wanted to purchase it on DVD if it was available and searched for it on Amazon. The reviews weren't too favorable about it being put on DVD but decided to get it anyway. I'm VERY happy with it and glad I went for it! Again, I needed something to help all of my senses relax after a stressful day at work and this does the trick perfectly.
