  1. This hour long Nature DVD shows much of the magnificent wildlife and scenery of Ireland. It has beautiful photography and shows many of Ireland's unique landscapes. The PBS Nature series is one of my favorite wildlife shows, and I would like to see more episodes from its more than twenty years of progams become available on DVD. I wish that more footage was added to make this DVD longer. It seems that other related material could have been found in the large archive of films collected over the years by the creators of the Nature series.

  2. This is a beautiful documentary that I enjoyed very much. It does not make any mention of the way in which the Gaelic Tiger, and the sudden affluence of Ireland, has endangered its natural resources, however. Added discussion of this subject would have been the only thing that improved it. I too wish they would have turned it into a three hour film as there's so much to elucidate. Anyway, my two favorite areas they study are the western coast and the mountains of Northern Ireland. The scenery is so pretty that I longed to jump into the screen. I should warn people though that the Guinness Oyster Bay segment made me jones for oysters like never before. They showed close-ups of what they were eating and those crustaceans were of monstrous size. We don't get oysters like that in America--at least, at the places that my wallet allows me to frequent. I loved what I saw here.

  3. After visiting Ireland for the first time this year. I found this DVD to be excellent. Now I want to go back to see all the things we have missed. If you have never been to Ireland you have to go. It is the most beautiful place I have ever visited and the people. The people are the freindliest I have met in all my travels/

  1. I saw the theatrical version of this movie about 3 months ago and just got the DVD release. I thought the film was great when I saw it in the IMAX theater at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. However, the DVD just didn't look right to me. The vibrant colors that I saw in the theater were not there and the soundtrack was not transfered very well to either DD 5.1 or DTS 5.1. The DVD was a disappointment. The video quality of the "Making of" feature was not worthy of DVD release.

I own about a dozen IMAX films on DVD. This and another one that I bought at the same time could have been better. Both were released by Image Entertainment. I have gotten some real low quality DVD releases from Image Entertainment and this continues the trend for me.

  2. The opening sequence of the sky divers over San Diego is the high point of the DVD for me; but the entire DVD is well worth watching repeatedly. Movies should take you to places that you may not be able to go in real life, such as skydiving. The Disney chapter was light and fun; especially the first person perspective roller coaster ride. Climbing up and into the giant trees of California again gives us non-climbers unusual views and different perspectives.

  3. I have a 60" Sony widescreen and its awesome watching Adventures in Wild California on it. The music is good and the photography is excellent. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone. DTS IS GREAT!

  4. A wonderful way to introduce your kids to the wonders of California. This is a great way to spend an evening in front of the TV and enjoying the great music, visuals, and scenery. The Golden Gate Bridge shots are amazing. Highly recommended !! And if it plays at an IMAX near you, DON'T MISS IT!!!!

  5. Tora Tora Tora. is an excellent war movie with a very good and true story. i highly recomment this dvd. the cover on the fron of this dvd is very nice and well done, the sound is very good and if you have a good sound system then this dvd is well worth buying the color is also very good and I give it full five stars, well worth keeping in anyones collection. and well worth its money and well spent. I can honestly say it is well worth watching over annd over again, do buy it

  1. This is incredible footage of New England, alot in fall and all her glory. You will
watch this over and over again. The beauty is breathtaking, and what is better
    than a flyover?

  2. Don't expect a colorful, scenic view of the northeast. These old TV shows range from mediocre to juvenile. The "Cape Cod" scenes with music (no narration) is probably the best.

  3. 4 Disc set-one of the dvd discs skipped and then just froze after about 5 minutes of playtime. I have sent the set back for reimbursement and we'll see how that goes...very dissappointed.

  4. This is a nice introduction to New England. The footage is clear and beautiful. I have sent this dvd set to relatives abroad so they can see where we live.

  5. This is a great tour of New England. The Cape Cod dvd is the best (you've got to see the whales :) But the whole set is a great exploration of the New England I love. We have friends from England you come and visit and they take these dvds back home to show their friend what they've seen. SO much better then just taking pictures. I highly reccomed this set. A+

  1. I sat down to watch this, and within just the first couple minutes I knew I'd be bored. I guess I was expecting more of a wide shot of earth, but the camera is zoomed in close on almost every shot and makes it difficult to even tell what you are looking at at times. And because it's so close, they do this annoying pan with every shot so you can see the whole thing, and that got me a little dizzy. And it just wasn't smooth, because it cuts to a new video about every 7 seconds. It's not something you can just sit and watch, but I guess if you have it on at a party or something, it's ok, as long as it's for your grandparents or something. I have to say the music is pretty good and goes with what you are watching, but as with all dvds of this type, you can play your own soundtrack. I noticed that this is the first dvd in a series, so maybe they've done a better job on the newer ones.

  2. This is one of the best planet dvds I've seen in a long time. Beautiful graphics and wonderful soundtrack. Lots of information too.

  3. Buy one of the Imax space dvd's , you'll be better off. This one is boring.
Unfortunately once you open the box, nobody lets you return it.
So you are stuck with it.
Spend your money on something else.

1 comments about Rick Steves' Europe: All 43 Shows 2000-2005.
  1. I bought this DVD series in 2005 and have watched each show at least twice. Some of my favorite shows I've seen 5 or times. Each show lasts about 20-25 minutes. Rick puts together the best European travel DVDs and you can't beat the price.

Now Rick Steves has a new set of DVDs called "Rick Steves' Europe, 2000-2007: All 70 Shows" which are the 43 shows in this DVD series plus 27 new shows from 2006 and 2007.

However, if you can get this set of 43 shows at a substantial discount, and don't really need or want to watch 70 shows, then this set will do the trick.
