1 comments about America's Funniest Comics 3 (Full).
- Something is wrong with the DVD. For some reason it skips and stops on it's own. I can't play past it. I couldn't do anything with it. I tried just fast forwarding through the part but it wouldn't allow it.

2 comments about Nature: Land Of the Falling Lakes.
- I've always loved waterfalls; and in this DVD, I couldn't get enough of the beautiful scenery and the extraordinary development of this land after the brutal war that the land endured. The animals (brown bear, wolves, beaver, etc.) live in such a peaceful setting and it's interesting to see the lives they have in all seasons. It is one of the oldest national parks in the world and I would suggest anyone, who has the ability to travel, to make it a destination and see the beauty up close.
- Land of the Falling Lakes is about the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. I could not believe a place like this still exists in Europe. A very beautiful and unique wilderness worth learning about.
The program is typical of the high quality production of the Nature program on PBS. Beautiful cinematography with well thought out narration and music.

2 comments about Globe Trekker: New York.
- If you're a first time New York City visitor or need more basic info for traveling, this dvd is an excellent way to learn how to plan your trip, and get an idea, a feel for what NYC is like before arriving. The more you know what you're in for when you arrive in NYC BEFORE you get there helps you not only blend in with the people flow, but prevents you from being so dazed and mesmorized by the streets, buildings, and pace that NYC presents a new visitor.
Well worth the price.
Jeff Smith
- This may be the best Globe Trekker show I've seen, but then again I may be prejudiced because I'm a native New Yorker. It was great to see some of the spots I'm familiar with, like Battery Park, midtown Manhattan, Williamsburgh, Coney Island, Brighton Beach, and my favorite part of New York City, Central Park. The most powerful part of this video is the trip to Ground Zero, where I used to work when it was called the World Trade Center. When they were describing Central Park as the center of town I was thinking yeah, you got that right. When they were in Brighton Beach I was talking to the screen, advising them to go to Mrs Stahl's for some pineapple cheese knishes. I also liked seeing the basketball players in the Greenwich Village park by the West 4th Street train station. How many dozens of times was I at that park and station?
If I was doing a Globe Trekker video on New York City I would have included a lot of the same things they did. I'd also show the midtown restaurants more, in their amazing variety, and Junior's restaurant in Brooklyn with their cheesecakes and awesome peach pies, and Yankee Stadium, and Shea Stadium, and Madison Square Garden, and more of The Village around Bleecker and MacDougal streets, and the restaurants of Chinatown instead of the store they took us into, and the restaurants of Little Italy, and the Bronx Zoo, and the beautiful Verrazzano Bridge that makes you feel like you're driving directly into Heaven, and Long Island City, Queens, but only because I grew up there. I'd have shown Columbia University, Brooklyn College, Stuyvesant High School, the Port Authority bus terminal and 42nd Street. And I'd have kept that idiot Farrakhan fan out of it.

3 comments about Exploring Vietnam.
- I am writing this review to tell you that this DVD, which is barely over 30 minutes long, is someone's vacation put on DVD. The camera work is terrible and I was extremely disappointed in this DVD. The explanation of history and how the people live today is lacking in any real substance. The only saving grace of this DVD is that there are many video sequences of the scenery in Vietnam. Not recommended for anyone who wants to learn more about Vietnam
- I agree with the previous reviewer that this is an amateur production - appears to be a husband and wife and their camcorder. There is a long segment on Thailand tacked on the beginning for some reason and the narration is flat. The dvd cuts abruptly from location to location.
The only reason we still have this DVD is that my 3-year old, who was adopted from Vietnam, requests it periodically. The scenery is nice and gives some idea of what it's like to be there but this DVD definitely should not serve as your introduction to this beautiful country.
- Save your money and time. There is no content at all in this collection of disjointed scenes and uninspired narration. One gets the feeling this was a class project that was created at the last minute to meet a deadline.

2 comments about Lonely Planet Six Degrees Series 2: Hong Kong.
- I'm in this! Okay, in something that can't even really be called a cameo, but nonetheless...in one of the early scenes the host goes to a 'costume party' where almost no one else dresses up; he starts looking at all the people there and describing them to the audience, "Suit, suit, suit, suit, suit, a couple of dresses, suit, almost a costume, suit, pirate."
And yes, I am the pirate.
I've never been prouder. It was a benefit for the Hong Kong ballet.
And, dammit, if they hadn't been filming the show, I would have won!
Oh, but about the DVD, they explore the seldom seen parts of HK, from some lovely kayaking in the outlying islands, to a fantastic traditional village house; they visit local racconteur Nuri Vittachi and a fascinating and somewhat strange photographer/visual-performance artist identified only as Amy; they go shopping in Mong Kok, one of the most densely crowded places on Earth; they ride along with the marine police on a night patrol to catch smugglers (which they don't actually manage to do), and they meet a kung-fu artist/stuntman. It's loads of fun, and I saw parts of Hong kong that I hadn't seen here in real life having been here 17 years! But it was rather odd that the majority of people they met here were NOT CHINESE. Sure, there are a lot of expats living here, but you'd think that more locals would give you more of a local sense of the place.
And keep an eye out for the pirate. (The Marine Police still haven't brought me in! HAHAHAHAHA!)
- I was hoping this would be a good overview of things to see on my trip in Hong Kong. But it didn't really offer much information.
The host is nice enough, but there wasn't much info about things to see, places to go, what to expect, etc...
If you're looking for something to help plan your trip. Save your money. On the other hand, the Frommers guide is quite helpful.
