  1. I first saw this Readers Digest series on public television and I was very impressed. I was even more impressed when I was able to buy this on DVD.Beautiful scenery, wonderful music, all set to images of America's most beautiful parks.

  2. I have been looking for movies that combine classical music with beautiful nature photography. This one's a real winner.

  1. I ordered this product before December 1st actually it was shipped on Dec. 1st and I have no gotten it yet and I did not get a tracking code and I have no way of letting them know I have not gtten it and Im an Amazon Prime custumer

  2. I couldn't believe that a video could capture the action me and my friends have been enjoying in Thailand for years, but the "Last Temptation in Thailand" was just like being there! The guy travels all over Thailand in a kind of sex odyssey and then ties it altogether with a Sex in the City kind of narrative. If you can't go to Thailand or are thinking about going, get this tape and see what you're missing! Absolutely the best show on Thailand I've ever seen!

  3. Very entertaining video. The author obviously had a great time in Thailand. It is nice to see how he juxtaposes the Thailand experience with Buddhism. I know very little about Buddhism, so that part was very interesting to me.

  1. This is fun and informational to watch espically if you travel on your motorcycle and even in your car.....Would have bought Feasting on Asphalt II but is not out yet. DVD would be best..seen there is a book... So buy it..you'll enjoy it.

  2. I watched this when it was on Food Network but it is so much better to be able to sit through the whole thing. I can hardly wait for Season 2

  3. If you're a fan of Alton Brown's hit show Good Eats on the Food Network, or of motorcycling in general, you're going to love this series. He rides the way I wish I could; now if I could only get away for a month of motorcycling and culinary exploration.......

  4. This is a great series for foodies and adventurers. We're long-time fans of Good Eats (our kids quote "Altonisms" endlessly), and we expect the bar to be set pretty high for this new series. In a word, it's great. And really entertaining. Brainy. Thoughtful. Fun. All of the things you hope for when you tear off the shrinkwrap. I think one of the reasons we enjoyed this set so much is that the production values--even as a travelogue--are so good. Although some of the shtick is gimmicky and overdone, it works as entertainment and it draws the viewer into what is unquestionably "Alton's World." A very cool DVD set and, for us, a wise investment we will enjoy over and over again.

  5. Feasting On Asphalt is a superb four part series from Good Eats' Alton Brown. Setting across the country in one month on a motorcycle, Mr. Brown sets out on a journey in search of authentic "road food". Traversing his way through the South, into the Midwest and ultimately the road food capital of the country, Los Angeles, Mr. Brown takes the viewer off the beaten path into restaurants, drive-in's, luncheonettes and other eateries in both the small towns and big cities. Sprinkled with his trademark wit as well as some deep thoughts, the show is an interesting and captivating travelogue of the highways and byways of this country. Plus you get to see Mr. Brown wipeout big time on his motorcycle. The dvd has outtakes which essentially gives you four alternative episodes, so if you have already seen the original episodes these are worth the cost of the set.

  1. 'Hypnotic' is the word that comes to mind. I think Mr.Voevodsky creates the best 'feel-good' videos one can find. In simple, well-chosen still shots, he shows us the best beach-beauty Florida has to offer (and that is quite a lot). Shimmering white sand and sapphire sky frame passing catamarans and graceful shore birds busily bobbing for dinner in the gently surging surf. Only natural sounds for background and sunsets that electrify even as they soothe. No sand fleas. No humidity. No sunscreen required. I challenge anyone to stay tense after the first ten minutes of this work of art.

  2. I came across this item by accident, bought it, and think it is one of the best investments I've ever made. This guy is a genius. If this DVD could be marketed in pill form, we'd all be stress-free. If you love Florida, and more specifically, its beaches, you MUST buy this DVD. I would never have believed that watching something on television could be this relaxing, but I do now. The scenes are nothing short of breathtaking, and the colour is just amazing. The only sounds are of the waves...no tinkling music or faux bird calls. You have the option of watching the beaches with or without the subtitles as the locations change, so if you see a scene and think you must go on your next trip south, you can see what beach the segment was shot at. Bahia Honda, here I come! To sum it up in a nutshell, this DVD is a must-buy for beach lovers, especially to 'tide' you over until your next visit.

  3. Unfortunately, it's boring and the sound is not great either.
Better watch it with your own music.

  4. Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3LV1B70X1L4OD SEE for yourself --> VIDEO CLIP FROM DVD <-- CLICK HERE to watch.

  5. I bought two DVDs of Waves Virtual Vacation series. They're Best of Bahama Beaches and Florida Beaches. They're all waste of money because they show the same scenes from the beginning till the end.

All I could see was the waves hitting the beach from one angle. After approximate 10 minutes the camera switched to another angle or another location. But basiclly it still showed the same scenes! That means, I still saw wave hitting the beaches. Once in a while I saw some trees plus the beaches and the waves. I could have made these DVDs with my own camcorder!

They're not worth buying at all.

  1. We are planning a trip to ecuador and although this video was nice and got us excited about the trip it offered no real travel details and covered information on only a very small part of the country. Nicely done if you are interested in just a taste of Ecuador -say 5 minutes in the Galapagos.

  2. I'm really sorry but this dvd is terrible, my mother bought it here in amazon to me as a present. If you are interested in knowing more about Ecuador don't buy it. I made that mistake, I bought the dvd and it was just horrible. It las 1 hour but the guide lady insisted in visiting just the most terrible places in Ecuador and she didn't show the beauty of the nature and the kindness of the people.

Also the dvd was manufactured in 2004 but the dvd is clearly much older than that. Just check the currency that this lady used (sucres) that doesn't exist anymore in Ecaudor since its currency changed 5 years ago for dollars which helps the tourist a lot since they don't need to buy other currency, it's enough to take dollars to go to Ecuador.

She didn't cover the three most important cities in Ecuador either. She started her trip in Guayaquil but she didn't show that city at all (she showed it just for 1 minute) and Quito (the capital city) was focused like a indinegous city what is not totally true because there's the biggest white and european population in this place. And finally she never showed Cuenca, the third most important city in Ecuador, I mean never...

Ecuador is a paradise on the Earth, I now that because I lived there, this country has economic and social problems but that is not an impediment to visit it. It is not as safer as USA or other first world countries but its weather, millennial culutre, landscapes and people made Ecuador a wonderful place to visit and this dvd doesn't show that at all, it's just focus to show the most terrible parts and problems of the country.

  3. As a school teacher, it is difficult to find interesting videos to show students on Latin American culture and customs. This video does just that! Justine Shapiro is fun, engaging and interesting. She does a good job of showing us Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in an hour-a feat nearly impossible for most documentaries! I highly recommend this video for anyone interested in getting an introductory look at the people and culture surrounding the country of Ecuador!

  4. After living 15 years in Ecuador I was quite disappointed with this DVD. Ecuador is such a diverse country, not only in terms of its bio diversity, but in the diversity of its people. There is also no insight into Ecuador's urban centers. Touristic resources can blend good insight with captivating images (I think of the great book Insight Guides: Ecuador), but this one falls short. I purchased it hoping to use it for a university course that I teach on Latin America. After reviewing it, I decided that the best use of this DVD would be to show some of the common tourist stereotypes of a such a diverse place.

  5. A very self indulgent piece of work by Justine Shapiro. Everything is glossed over. Several segments are shot in black and white and time lapse. She talks more about herself than Ecuador. The segment on Quito was only a few seconds long!

  1. NOT ALL THAT GREAT QUALITY, I PLAYED IN ONE MY PLAYSTATION 3 & IT IS VERY POOR QUALITY DVD. i THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING WITH THE PLAYSTATION 3 BUT IT WAS TH DVD EVERYTHING ELSE PLAYED CLEAR & SMOOTH.

  2. I don't regret purchasing this dvd and have watched it several times. Unfortunately the commentary on most wildlife films ranges from insipidly trite to downright annoying - this seems criminal, given the quality of the movie footage and the tribulation involved in capturing it. On this one the monologue is mostly innoffensive.

Although the quality during the introduction has the appearance of an old video, the rest of the film is fine. While not in the same league as, say, Derek & Beverey Joubert, there is some memorable and engaging footage in places and I will certainly be watching it again.

  3. I first saw this from a library DVD loan. It was so good that I set out to buy it and put it in my personal library. It IS a good movie on lions, and it in particular follows a certain pride of lions on an African reserve. I must have watched it five or six times in a row when I first got it from the library (Five or six times that night). Now I have ordered it.

I am very particular about the nature/wildlife movies I buy. I try to get the ones that have good, quality color, good text on the subject, that is exciting and holds your attention, shows the true life and pattern of the animal, that while it does show that the animal must hunt in order to eat (it cannot go to McDonalds and order a salad to go) but at the same time, that part is not too gory, the narration does not promote evolutionist ideas (Animals did not evolve and our great, great grandparents did not come from orangatangs), does not elevate the animal kingdom as if they are on a higher plane than humans, while bashing mankind as the "enemy of animal's existance and habitat", etc... and this movie is an EXCELLENT documantary that leaves all that stuff out and just gets you intimately aquainted with this particular African pride of Lions and their life and experiences.

You will like this movie. Still not sure? Do what I did and get it from the Library, look at it and see that it's a great movie, then you will confidently go out and buy it too.
