5 comments about Austin Powers in Goldmember.
- i think there will never be an unfunny or boring Austin Powers. the writers are good. but I'm the kind of person that usually only likes the first movie. the first austin powers was the best! liz hurley was beautiful in it, and the fembots. i didn't like the 2nd one b/c Heather Graham did not look attractive, and it seemed the dullest of all 3. i wanted to watch this b/c i'm a fan of Beyonce and think she is beautiful. unfortunately it is she that brings the movie down. austin powers is suppposed to be about 2 elements: Austin and his essential accompanying humor and the hot babe who supports him. i feel that Beyonce was not a good supporting actress. she is not a good actress in this and thus weakens the movie. she seems artificial and overacts. she is not natural; like she knows the camera is on her and this is a movie e.t.c. maybe she needed time to practice more and maybe it wasn't the right movie for her b/c in Dreamgirls she was awesome; her acting was really good and believable in that. i think she needed time b/c i do think they essentially chose her for this movie b/c of her star power and the fanbase she'd bring. but at least she does look hot in it! but i did like the ending of it. i think she wasn't so bad at the end. my verdict is that this is still watchable and shows off hot beyonce. Yeah baby!
- I'm a fan of the Austin Powers series. The jokes are over the top, the characters are hilarious, what's not to like? So when Austin Powers in Goldmember came out, I just had to watch it. As you can tell from my 3 star rating, I was not that impressed.
At the time this movie came out, I was a fan of Beyonce's so that added to my excitement. Regardless of how much I liked Beyonce, I just couldn't disregard the fact that her presence in the film almost completely ruined it. The fakeness, the bad acting-it almost made me uncomfortable to watch the scenes that she was in.
Further, the jokes just weren't that great. The humor in the two previous movies had changed dramatically in Goldmember. The jokes in Goldmember are more obvious and silly. I even remember when I first watched this in the theatres, there were hardly any laughs coming from the audience. And the usually funny characters lack their typical "punch". The jokes are similar to the ones in the first two movies and they get old rather quickly. The new character, Goldmember, is nothing special. If I had to come up with an adjective to describe him it would be "gross".
The movie moves along steadily although it seems that the scenes were just thrown together. If you're a fan of the first two films in the Austin Powers series and you feel as though you must watch this one, it's important to know that it's entertaining in its own way but it's simply not good enough.
- What a shame,
People embraced this franchise so much that we just had to love it to death. The funniest moments in this movie are the cameo appearances of Tom Cruise, Kevin Spacey, Stephen Spielberg and others...after that runs its course, not much is left.
Someone else here says the outtakes are funnier than the movie itself, since they feature Mike Myers improvising. I'm fulloy prepared to believe that. Iron-poor blood otherwise dominates this effort.
- Austin Powers in Goldmember is another great film in the shagadelic series. From the opening spoof AustinPussy one knows it's gonna be a great film. The jokes are on taregt , the script is witty and the cameos are great.Beyonce does a good acting job, despite what the critics said as her performances really just requires her to be eye candy. All in all a fun film.
- This movie was really good and funny. it's not as funny as the first one but still good

5 comments about Alice in Wonderland (Masterpiece Edition).
- I always considered myself a Disney deprived child because of alot of them I've never seen. So I started buying them now that I'm 22. I came to the realization that I'm glad I waited til I was an adult to see them. Some of them have these freaky scenes and characters that I think would have scared the living daylights out of me when I was a child. For example, the weird disappearing cat and the Queen of Hearts. Jeez!!! Anyway I guess it was okay but the whole mushroom and story line. Almost a weird dream or some kind of trip if you get what I mean.
- This is another Disney classic movie that I reccommend for everyone. This movie is a great one too sit down and let your troubles float away.
- I was so happy to find this film on DVD! I always loved Alice in Wonderland as a kid, but now it is even better.
The quality of the DVD is amazing (although I would expect nothing less from Disney). The colors are so crisp and bright. The sound seems to even be a better quality, too.
But the story is still the same masterpiece I fell in love with as a child.
And the little extras contained on the second disc are perfect! "Thru the looking glass" has to be one of the most memorable Mickey cartoons. Get your hands on a copy of this one and enjoy it!
- This is one of the many Disney Classics that won our harts and loyalty to the Disney name. No collection is complete without this movie that is good wholesome fun for the whole family.
- Alice in Wonderland is renowned for it's odd and satirical nature, while still appealing to kids who are highly entertained by the disappearing Cheshire cat, the wackiness of the Mad Hatter, and the wrath of the Queen of Hearts. The songs are cute and Disney-esque, and Alice's adventures inspire all of the many imaginative people out in the world.

5 comments about The Time Machine.
- The Time Machine is not only a wonderful movie but it is a favorite subject of mine; the ability to move back or forth through millions of years fascinates me, especially the future as it is largely unknown. For its age the film is scarcely dated with fine acting and production values, and one of those that you can watch over and over. The question of what to bring with you into another civilization for better or worse is infinitely intriguing.
- A good movie for it's time and a good movie now. So much better than the cheesy remake.
- This really is a great movie in about every way. It's well written & acted. It has forsight. It's fun. There are slow parts for people who can't appreciate the story and/or have a short attention span. I have a hard time bringing myself to spend the time to re-watch it when I'm in the mood but when I do, I'm always glad I did. I don't think any DVD collection is complete without this awesome classic.
- Like any old campy sci fi movie its good for a laugh just to see crappy sets and terrible Morlocks. I dont think anybody takes this movie serious, well i hope not anyways. The same people who like this movie are the same ones who say the remake is terrible.
- This movie is, what (?), creepin'
up on 50-years old. The Time Ma-
chine is in better condition than
the surviving actors/filmcrew....
Based on the age of creation, how
can anyone YOUNGER than the movie
understand the wonders of watching
this film-- for the first time--
on the giant screen as a ten-year-
old? There's very LITTLE rocket sci-
ence IN the film... just sweat and
time-lapse magic that is just what
a younger reviewer'd call Cheesy.
When this film turns 50, I'll turn
60... the old guy has seen BETTER
movies, but there's plenty WORSE
than this. Shame on the 10% of the
raters-- of THIS film-- that gave
it ONE[*?] or TWO[**?] STARS!

5 comments about Alaska: Spirit of the Wild (IMAX) [Blu-ray].
- Great documentary, a little short but worth the price. The rendering on my TV (Panasonic 42", 1080p) is absolutely amazing. If you like these type on documentaries you might want to look at Planet Earth. I also own it and it is an amazing documentary, a bit pricier than this one but well worth it. If you like Alaska, you are on a budget and want to see how a blue ray DVD looks on your TV, buy this DVD.
- This is a well done travelog of Alaska, with beautiful photogragh and narration by Charleston Heston. Anyone interested in "The 49th State" will find this a welcome addition to their film library.
- If you are trying to give yourself a reason to visit Alaska, this dvd will do that trick.
- Why on earth - espicially with Blue Ray - do these specials fail to go longer than 60 mins? I think this one struggles to make 40. Wait until it's reduced before getting it.
- Alaska: Spirit of the Wild (IMAX) [Blu-ray]
This is an excellent nature video and is has a very good images in blue ray.

5 comments about Stargate (Ultimate Edition).
- The item arrived in a timely fashion and in the condition described. The box had some minor writing on it in sharpie, but for 3 or 4 four dollars and speedy shipping, i couldn't be more happy!
- This movie takes place in another world equivalent to Egypt so we see a lot of sand dunes, which isn't really that good to look at, boring scenery. The aliens make good bad guys, and they seem unbeatable, so it's a good underdog story how the natives unite to fight the aliens, with help from the U.S. soldiers. Kurt Russell plays a tragic tough guy, and it comes out as a good character to root for when he fights the aliens. I think overall it's an above average action movie, with a little romance, but the lasting image is that there's a lot of sand.
- The film was a smash hit world wide and spawned such television shows as Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Infiniti.
A team of scientists and soldiers travel to another galaxy to explore its link to ancient earth. Once there they find it under the rule of an alien creature claiming itself to be the egyptian god Ra. This does not go well with the team and they begin a campaign to show the alien for the false god it is and destroy his loyal army. The film has a great story and nicely melds itself into egyptian lore.
DVD Notes
The current version of "The Ultimate Edition" is the theatrical cut with a mini-documentary.
The re-release of the "Special Edition" also containes the theatrical cut of the film.
I suggest finding the original 03' release that containes the director's cut as well and a 23-minutes feature. it can be found in the "Collectible" section of used sellers.
- As I've always loved Egypt, Pyramids and stuff, I like almost every good pyramid movie.
This movie has great graphics, an interesting story and a great sound quality. I'm also planning on buying this title on blu-ray.
Really loved it...
- Product arrived Promptly and in good condition
I regard Elaine Pagels to be a knowledgeable and reliable scholar in ancient religious works, and writes in a very readable and understandable style. Very worthwhile book in exploring early Christian thought, and the origins of the Church.

5 comments about Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977 & 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition).
- This dvd made a great gift! I gave it to my boyfriend who's a big "Star Wars" fan. The only likes the original versions, so this made the perfect gift. He was so happy to finally be able to watch the original " Star Wars" movies on our flat screen tv in widescreen format.
- A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away -- oh, you know the rest.
A couple of robots shuttle to a desert planet after their rebel spaceship is taken over by an Imperial starcruiser, capturing everyone on board including the rebel princess, Leia (Carrie Fisher). Leia has sent the robots to convey a message to a man named Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), who she claims is the only hope left for the rebels to beat the evil Empire.
A pair of farmers buy the droids after they are captured by some scavengers to use on their farm, and after the farmer boy, Luke (Mark Hamill), discovers the princess' message, he heads to Obi-Wan to deliver it. While he is away, his family is killed by the Empire seeking the droids, as they make their escape from the planet with the aid of a space pirate named Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and make their way to help the princess, who is now aboard a space station powerful enough to destroy an entire planet in seconds, the Death Star.
Star Wars is truly one of the all-time greatest cinematic experiences ever created. A modern day equivalent of a fairy tale, masterfully and lovingly created by writer-director George Lucas. Combining elements of narratives of the past with modern-day westerns and Japanese cinema, it is a breathtaking endeavor, with an absorbing universe of richly-defined characters. It's bolstered by a memorable score by John Williams, beautifully created costumes and sets, and a tightly constructed plot that never strays off course, this is nothing short of a sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece.
Oh, should I mention that I recommend viewing this movie to everyone?
-- Followed by the sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).
-- Re-released with enhanced special effects and some additional scenes in theaters as Star Wars: Special Edition in 1997. This is the version that exists on DVD.
-- Three prequels were made over two decades later: The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005).
-- Another sequel (of sorts) was made for TV called The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), but has been subsequently buried by Lucas, although degraded copies do exist.
-- Spin-offs include the TV cartoon series "Droids" (1985-6) and a short mockumentary, R2-D2: Beneath the Dome (2001).
- Is it perfect? No. Is it remastered? No. But it is perfectly watchable. I had never actually seen the original theatrical version, so it was nice to see Han shoot first. I have ordered this version of the other two movies.
After reading some of the reviews here, I was expecting something horrible. But it wasn't horrible, it was good. Not great, but good. I watched it on a 26" widescreen TV with the DVD in an XBOX 360. The 360 had a view option that I could choose so that it filled up the whole screen without any letterboxing or cutting off of the edges. Don't know if normal DVD players have that kind of option, but I would recommend checking to see if yours does.
- For all those fans of Starwars these disks offer both the origional and enhansed versions of the first Star Wars movie. You just can't go wrong with this purchase.
- Star Wars...........
The ground breaking movie that blew people away, from the opening football field sized star destroyer to the not so epic due with Obi - Wan.
This movie has impacted so many and inspired so many.
The good?
VADER!!!!!!!!
One foot step onscreen was all it took to start the legend.
One of the best if not THE greatest super villain of all time.
The script is good, thank god Harrison Ford told Lucas, "You can write all this corny nonsense all you want but I'm not saying it".
If only the cast of the recent three had the courage to tell him that.
We wouldn't have had to suffer through the laughably bad dialogue in "Clones"
The action is great and the movie has definitely withstood the test of time.
The bad?
It drags in places but considering this movie was sooooooooo groundbreaking, I'm not going to make to many complaints.
Vader did not have enough screen time. Considering Lucas says this whole thing is Vader's story, one would think he would have had a ton more time in this one. Hmmmmmm????
That's it folks, A New Hope is a masterpiece and a must see/ must have for anyone and everyone.

5 comments about Africa: The Serengeti (IMAX) [Blu-ray].
- Great price, too.
The Great Migration is the focal point. Fantastic aerial shots.
Narration by James Earl Jones.
- It was interesting enough and James Earl did a nice job with the commentary but it falls short of any of the amazing "planet earth" series. I have a 42in LCD TV with a PS3 that plays blue ray and the picture on the planet earth series is top of the line. The Imax DVD, its good but nothing great. It was good documentary, but was probably made for the IMAX theatre not your house TV and it showed a little. I bought the entire Planet earth series but if you dont want to make such an investment just buy the first disc which includes 1 of 3 in the series of 11 documentarys. I was simply blown away by "Pole to Pole" on the 1st disc. Look at it and see for yourself, this is one nature show you will watch over and over...I still cant get over how crazy the picture was.
Go watch the Imax film for the little 12 bucks you're gonna pay for it on this site, but I would put my money on the planet earths series. If you dont have HD or an HD/Blueray DVD player than I wouldnt worry about what I said because the picture difference wont be noticeable and either film will do.
- Africa: The Serengeti (IMAX) [Blu-ray] I know, I know - I'm still enamored of Blu-ray and HDTV and am also fascinated with African wildlife and oceanic wildlife. The video and surround sound were awesome for home video. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys this type of documentary.
- I watch many blu-ray disks and documentary, must admit this one was probably the third best documentary in blu-ray beside planet earth and Galapagos. Is kinda short, but boy it has some of the best scene; especially at the end. Will really make your remember that scene 4ever. The video transfer is great, consider 14 years old. Audio is not HD or 5.1 but has so many language. No extra as usual for most documentary. This is must rent probably worth buy since is pretty cheap.
- This is one great DVD and very well narrated by the Darth Vader guy of Star Wars - James Earl Jones. He spoke so clear I didn't opt to use the subtitles. Very well photographed in the IMAX large format film and the sound is very good both in 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS although the latter is a bit louder. I recommend this DVD to all.

5 comments about The Terminator.
- It was ARNOLD, not much else needs to be said. I think the movie was done and the line 'I'll be Back' is still being done.
- 1080p HDTV with my PS3 playing this movie is so freaking awesome! Looking way better than the VHS and DVD with the standard TV.
- While almost 25 years after its release, the Terminator franchise is still going strong. James Cameron's original film is a low-budget thrillfest that truly made Arnold Schwarzenegger a star. The film follows a young carefree women as she learns that she will one day give birth to a resistance leader that will save the world. The downside is that evil robots don't want to see that happen and send a robotic Arnold back in the past to kill her long before she's even pregnant. Lots of bang for the buck with this film as the action and stunts are thrilling and brutal. Go check out the move that started this billion-dollar franchise. I recommend it for adults 18+.
- This is a classic movie to the point where it has become a serious cliche. However it is well made and finely paced. The soundtrack is seriously '80s but otherwise fine. Most importantly, however, this movie paved the road for the very excellent second movie.
The effects are dated, but they work well enough for the movie because they are shot with competence and an eye towards the end result of the movie.
Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton work well together and Schwarzenegger is perfectly cast here in a rare (for him at least) villain role.
- T1 is such an important movie, yes the visuals look dated, but how many franchises have lasted this long?
The whole man versus machine has inspired and influenced so many artists, musicians, and other filmmakers.
The acting in this movie is pretty good, Arnold acts like a robot so I'm sure this role wasn't too difficult for him.
Linda Hamilton does the tough lady with brains instead of the usual damsel in distress nonsense.
The directing, the story is top notch.
T1 is a must see for all action, sci fi fans.
Highly recommended.

5 comments about Meet the Robinsons.
- This is currently my children's favorite movie. Best movie released by Disney in years. The Blu-Ray version that I purchased is definitely a "Show Piece" title for Blu-Ray in both picture and audio quality.
- I LOVE this movie. I don't often purchase DVDs, I rented this from Blockbuster b/c my wife likes animated films and I probably heard something on the news about it. I know I don't remember this getting much advertisement. I bought this DVD because it's awesome. I can't believe how many deprived people in this world haven't seen this awesome film. Lots of laughs, fun, and legitimate family values points. No romance!!! The kid isn't trying to hook up with some Disney-fied beauty queen, he wants a family. Works out pretty well, plus I'm a sci-fi fan. Highly recommended.
- I bought this movie on a whim and wasn't really looking for it being very good due to the trailers I'd seen. It just looked strange and plotless from the impression I got from the trailer. I was very pleasantly surprised when I watch this movie! The music is great, Danny Elfman does a great job and brings out a lot of emotion with the music, but this story isn't music dependent it just adds to it, like it should. The visuals are incredible, we've come a long way in this CGI world and in Blu-Ray this does become a world in itself especially in the future scenes , and the main plot is heartwarming. I tell everyone that this is my new favorite movie.
The Robinson family is eccentric yes, and maybe a little unbelievable, but hey, this is fiction! Only in this movie can a wife be just a puppet some how come off as understandable and there are some who may not be able to handle the zaniness, but just sit back and enjoy the ride. Not everything in life has to be so serious all the time and completely based in reality. Some people have mentioned thinking that young kids won't like this movie, but that is totally incorrect! My four children are 6, 4, 3, and 1 they want to watch this movie at least once a week. Maybe they don't get the whole plot, but they enjoy the adventure and just take it for what it is. I love all of the main characters, even the bad guy is one of the most enjoyable I've seen in a long time. He's stupidly funny that makes the kids laugh and not be scared of him, but still know he's not a good guy either.
The plot about Louis not having a family is touching. I think that the movie really lets you feel and know what it's like to be a little boy without a mom or dad. I loved how it showed that family is really an important thing in people's lives in general and even seemingly crazy and chaotic families can still be loving and have a lot to offer. There was also a message about personal responsibility that really hit home too. It's just a short little statement, but it said so much. Basically the point was sometimes bad things happen to you caused by other people, but you're responsible for what and how you react to that problem, you can chose to let it fester and turn you into an angry, bitter person or you can choose to let it go... and keep moving forward.
I really appreciated the theme of "Keep Moving Forward" I think a lot of people struggle with their failures, but just like Thomas Edison making the lightblub, through our failures we still learn and learn what NOT to do which is sometimes just as important. I think of this phrase a lot in my own personal life when something comes to a failure. Never thought that I'd get all of this from a kids movie from Disney.
I've been very disappointed with Disney for a long time minus the Pixar movies. This was a new and fresh offering from Disney in a very, very long time. I wish they would have sold this movie for what it actually offers you in the trailers. I guess reviews of movies help you find hidden treasures like this one. I am glad I took a gamble on getting this for my kids. This has way more to offer than you'd ever expect... and maybe even a tear or two at the end, if you're like me.
- I suppose this is a good one for the kids 10 and under but for adults it is barley bearable. I enjoyed Monster House and Ratatoie much more than this one.
- Great little movie. I'm surprised it didn't get better reviews. Kids and adults liked it. Check it out, good addition to your movie library.
