  1. This hour long Nature DVD shows much of the magnificent wildlife and scenery of Ireland. It has beautiful photography and shows many of Ireland's unique landscapes. The PBS Nature series is one of my favorite wildlife shows, and I would like to see more episodes from its more than twenty years of progams become available on DVD. I wish that more footage was added to make this DVD longer. It seems that other related material could have been found in the large archive of films collected over the years by the creators of the Nature series.

  2. This is a beautiful documentary that I enjoyed very much. It does not make any mention of the way in which the Gaelic Tiger, and the sudden affluence of Ireland, has endangered its natural resources, however. Added discussion of this subject would have been the only thing that improved it. I too wish they would have turned it into a three hour film as there's so much to elucidate. Anyway, my two favorite areas they study are the western coast and the mountains of Northern Ireland. The scenery is so pretty that I longed to jump into the screen. I should warn people though that the Guinness Oyster Bay segment made me jones for oysters like never before. They showed close-ups of what they were eating and those crustaceans were of monstrous size. We don't get oysters like that in America--at least, at the places that my wallet allows me to frequent. I loved what I saw here.

  3. After visiting Ireland for the first time this year. I found this DVD to be excellent. Now I want to go back to see all the things we have missed. If you have never been to Ireland you have to go. It is the most beautiful place I have ever visited and the people. The people are the freindliest I have met in all my travels/

  1. I purchased this video in Feb 2007 with the intention of using it to help plan my trip to PEI in 2008. While the DVD case and the DVD both clearly say "Running time: 1hr, 30min", the video is actually only about 23 minutes long. The info is good, but not very detailed at all! I was very disappointed. I paid $12.99 for the DVD, but I think that's way too high for only 23 minutes of information. In my opinion, anyone would be better off spending their time looking up information on the internet or investing in a good book on PEI.

  2. I'm also disappointed a little. It's just a 23 minute long video... It's too short. And why it states on the disc and on the case it's 1h 30 min. long? :(

  1. This DVD looks more like poor VHS quality compared to the original DVD released by the producer. So you get what you pay for... but for a few more bucks, buy the original version here on Amazon.com (same name) and get a better picture and a box cover that will match your collection.

  1. I found the first disc in this series so disappointing, I will not be watching the rest. I wanted good information about the Napa Wine Region - the inside scoop on remarkable wineries and interesting museums. The Napa disc was instead packed with one glowing B&B review after another. If you want a sneak peek at selected bed and breakfasts in the Napa Valley, rent it. If you have a hotel and are looking for concrete information on vacation activities, look elsewhere.

  1. I haden't been to Vegas in years, and this DVD got me up to speed on what to see and where to say. If you're thinking about going to Vegas, I definitely recommend this.

  2. This DVD is great...with its excellent quality it makes you feel like you are actually in Las Vegas. It is up to date with all of the latest attractions and casinos. It really gives a true feeling of Vegas. I highly recommend it for anyone who is planning to visit Las Vegas and for everyone who just wishes that they could. It will make you feel like you have been there.

  3. Being a frequent traveller to Las Vegas, I enjoyed the snippets of each resort and attraction previewed in the DVD.

My only complaint is that I wanted more, more, more...it seemed to go by too quickly.

  4. this DVD is complete garbage. It showed each resort for about 20 seconds. most of the time it talks about what to do away from the strip. It was really quite boring in my opinion. Watch the travel channel or buy a good guide book you will see and learn a lot more.

  5. I just bought this while out in Vegas to see what footage it showed of the Sahara, since I stayed at that hotel and I know that it probably won't be long before it gets imploded, much like some other greats of Vegas that have been put to rest. While the packaging makes it look like it covers everything, it doesn't.

First, the postives. The DVD shows footage of the MGM Grand when it still had the theme park, so if you're into nostalgia and remembering Vegas when it really was kid-friendly, you'll enjoy these scenes. Also of interest, it goes into good detail when it talks about the Aladdin and the Flamingo and shows some great footage of Las Vegas shows past and present (like Splash and Jubilee).

Unfortunately, that's where the postives end. It all seems far too rushed, and it doesn't cover the Monte Carlo or Harrah's (the latter which is currently responsible for buying up several big name hotels and is one of the central landmarks of the strip), both of which were built before the Venetian and Paris (these are both covered on the DVD, albeit briefly). Also, the Stardust is not part of this collection, which is a shame, as it was such a large part of Vegas history and has now been imploded. Finally, for a promotional video, it actually didn't sell me on Vegas-there is no depth to each hotel's description, it's main selling points (and I've been there now 7 times!). Rather, only a few images are chosen to showcase each hotel, some of them having nothing to do with the actual allure of the hotel.

Overall, if you want a piece of nostalgia, this is fine. But if you're planning a trip to Vegas, I would skip this and try a guidebook with lots of pictures and attention to detail instead.
