2 comments about Horizons: Panama, El Canal y Centroamerica.
- This DVD includes 14 chapters addressing areas or cultures within Central America.
Several of these are candidates for separate extensive DVDs. I would enjoy a DVD that provides more in-depth video of a transit of the Panama Canal, from ocean to ocean.
The video quality was very good for some of the chapters, while for others it was merely fair.
Overall, it is the most comprehensive DVD that I'm familiar with on the subject. The narrative is in Spanish. I have been unable to access the English subtitles.
- There are two sections, about 25 minutes each. The first is the Panama Canal (history, panama city, crossing the canal, Chocoes Indians, Portobello and Colon); the second is the Central American Confederation - I hadn't known the 5 nations were once one country - includes the Mayas, Guatamala, El Salvador, Hondouras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica (Panama was already covered; and was part of Columbia until it broke away to have the Canal dug).
Narrated in Spanish; unlike hte earlier DVDs in the series which have subtitles in 4 languages (Spanish, English, French, Italian), it only has subtitles in 3 languages (English, French, German). (I have 6 of them - so far.)

2 comments about American Wonders - National Parks of the West.
- I play this at work in a bank, in a religious jewish area, and I have surround sound. Image products have the most fantastic music to go along with their national park series, and I get customers praising the dvd's constantly, and some I have to give the address to so they can buy them. For a relaxing time, and great music it's a must.
- We already enjoy several videos by this same publisher and were hoping to see
more GREAT scenes. However what we found is that this video is 50% cut and paste from videos we already own. Overall the video is short too. Thus, the 50% that is new footage to us is very brief. If this is your first purchase of this series, I think you will give it 5 stars. Just know that if you are coming back for more, there are not alot of new sights to be seen.

5 comments about Over California.
- There is a problem with the DVD, it freezes up right in the middle of the documentary.
- Over California, as well as the entire "over" various other States series of aerial documentaries are breath-takingly excusite. However, once you have seen any of these series in the orignal High Definition format, even a pristine DVD rendition is a bit of a let-down. In any event, it is still a worthwhile purchase. I can't wait for the arival of the entire series on the High Definition format (as soon as a format finally arrives). Having a HD-Recorder and capturing any of these series of aerial films via HD satellite or HD-cable is the ultimate way to go for now.
- This is a standard-definition version of material originally shot in high definition. When seen in high-def, the vistas and scenery are breathtaking, so this standard-def version is very disappointing.
Time for the releasing company to insist on a new, high-def transfer from the original material.
- This video glossed over much of California's natural beauty and
instead focused on buildings, freeways, and football stadiums.
They gave the impression of showing California region by region,
but in reality they jumped back and forth, going from the south
coast to the central coast, then back south again. Many of the
pictures were unlabeled; we eventually decided that they really
didn't know what they had taken pictures of!
If you want to look at cities, freeways, and football stadiums
for an hour, this video is for you. If you want to see an hour
filled with California's majestic natural beauty, you'll be
very disappointed.
- I very much enjoyed the this product! It was shot over ten years ago and hits all the regions of state. After viewing it, the viewer will have a great sense of the wide variety and phyiscal beauty of California. The program shows cities, mountains, valleys, rural areas, coastlines, everything. The music for each region shown and narration further adds enjoyment of the aerial tour. The program appears to have been shot in high defintion video so there is great clarity in the pictures themselves. If you want to get a good sense of what California physically looks like, this one-hour program will meet or exceed that expectation. I highly recommend it.
