5 comments about Deja Vu.
- I seemed to get caught up in the subtle complexities of time travel films, and there are plenty of those in Deja Vu. Given the cast, great performances are a given, leaving the unfolding of the story and issues of traveling through time to keep you guessing until the end.
Very entertaining.
- This movie makes you wonder whats really out there lol. I have never watched it with anyone that has not loved it! Great suspense and action!
- Good Denzel film, lots of action and a little touch of sci-fi with the technology possibilities.
- DejaVu is a ride on a roller-coaster called: creative suspense. Some very imaginative ideas were interspersed into this plot, which offers glimpses of "Minority Report"'s futuristic crime solving, but Denzel Washington gives a performance a step (or two) above Tom Cruise's version. The sequence of events peaks the imagination in DejaVu, and supplies well enough camoflaged leads, that makes the production a progression of links into the climax, transitions that are as smooth as possible, with only a minimal amount of fragmentational scenes which never seem to add-up. Its a difficult theme to digest, even after the movie. The whole idea tooses back and forth from being Far-fetched, to anything's possible, and Denzel is a key ingredient for making DejaVu's mysterious premis as believable as it could ever get. Acting is excellent, Action is adequate, Suspense is sometimes subtle, but always
present.
- This movie stunk. It was full of time travel and all the twist and turns that come with the possibilities. But of course we have seen it all before a million times (can you say 12 Monkey's?). The movie has a great cast and it is a shame to see Denzel, Jesus Caviezel and Val 'I am washed up and not even trying anymore' Kilmer wasted in this stinky doo doo.

5 comments about Somewhere in Time (Collector's Edition).
- Somewhere in Time is a wonderful movie that keeps my attention. At the end, I wish there was a sequel.
- One of Chris Reeve's best films, overlooked by the critics, but an outstanding performance. Chris draws you in to his obsession with the picture and the woman. You find yourself cheering when he is able to travel back in time, and weeping when he is swept back to his own time unable to return. A box of tissues needed for this film.
- I won't add to the laudatory comments about this movie but would like to raise an intriguing question in connection with the Steve Reeves/Jane Seymour movie, "Somewhere in Time." In 1970 Jack Finney copyrighted what he called "An Illustrated Novel" named "Time and Again," which I have. It is a romantic, soulful read predicated on time travel back to an earlier New York City. I have always been struck by the similarity between the time travel "method" used by Finney in his book, and the sort of self-hypnosis method used in the Somewhere in Time movie. They are uncannily similar! Yet I find no credit for Jack Finney in connection with the Somewhere in Time movie on either the comments posted on Amazon.com or anywhere on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com).
Of interest also is that the professor character in the movie who tells Richard Collier about time travel is named "Finney." Can that be just coincidence, or was it intended as a kind of homage to author Jack Finney? Does anyone know?
- Christopher Reeves' best acting. While this movie moves a bit slowly at times, it is a touching, haunting romance story. You will watch this one over and over.
- I had bought the VHS as soon as it was available . Now I own this Collectors Edition and worth every " penny " ; )
Love all the extras you get on this DVD which watching them all comes to almost 2 hrs. on their own w/interviews from cast, director , score writer, Jane seymour and the late Mr. Reeve . I loved being able to peek behind the scenes of how it was made , what the main actors thought and did while making the movie .
And to think, it was a box office bust when it came out and lost for a long while til a Calif. cable ch. ran it and from then on ...well, the rest is history ! Now it's a true cult movie to be enjoyed by all people , even those who weren't yet born when this wonderful movie was being made .
OMG....the score was and is breath taking . I immedialtely looked into how to get to the Grand Hotel where they have the yearly homage to the movie w/costumes and all. But, sadly transportation complexitites for me from the east coast was out of the question , so, I'll just enjoy joining the club ' INSITE' and live viacriously thru those who can manage to enjoy the remebrance each year & re-watch this wonderful fully packed version . I wonder IF there will be a 30th anniversary DVD with new information of behind the senes ? I'd buy it .

5 comments about Alice in Wonderland (Masterpiece Edition).
- Movie is just like I remember :) Quality is very good, they did a wonderful job :)
- Terrific animation, very beautifully done. The production values are outstanding, as this is from the Classic Disney period. Thus the 4 star rating. However, the movie consists of several episodes which don't blend together very smoothly. And the characters Alice meets are nearly all really weird or nasty, which is not very appealing to a young child. (I don't see how a walrus tricking baby clams to leave their mother, only to be eaten, is good child entertainment). We have bought several other Disney classics which our daughter enjoys more. But she did like this one to a certain extent, as she sympathized with Alice.
The songs in this movie were not as catchy as those in other Disney productions, such as Peter Pan and Cinderella.
There is a strong irony to this movie, as Disney was all about creating magical fantasy worlds, and Alice in Wonderland is about how a fantasy world can be bizarre, sad, and ultimately dangerous. Wonderland is not wonderful at all.
- I always considered myself a Disney deprived child because of alot of them I've never seen. So I started buying them now that I'm 22. I came to the realization that I'm glad I waited til I was an adult to see them. Some of them have these freaky scenes and characters that I think would have scared the living daylights out of me when I was a child. For example, the weird disappearing cat and the Queen of Hearts. Jeez!!! Anyway I guess it was okay but the whole mushroom and story line. Almost a weird dream or some kind of trip if you get what I mean.
- This is another Disney classic movie that I reccommend for everyone. This movie is a great one too sit down and let your troubles float away.
- I was so happy to find this film on DVD! I always loved Alice in Wonderland as a kid, but now it is even better.
The quality of the DVD is amazing (although I would expect nothing less from Disney). The colors are so crisp and bright. The sound seems to even be a better quality, too.
But the story is still the same masterpiece I fell in love with as a child.
And the little extras contained on the second disc are perfect! "Thru the looking glass" has to be one of the most memorable Mickey cartoons. Get your hands on a copy of this one and enjoy it!

5 comments about Futurama - Bender's Big Score.
- I loved it. I've read a lot of SF and the writers did a good job of putting in every SF time travel twist I've ever seen. For the people that hated the film, I have no idea what you expected. I loved the characters and I loved the plot. All the twists and turns were great. I could have lived without the dance numbers, but Futurama did them in the series so no surprises there. Now if I could just get a soundtrack. I LOVE the holophone tracks on this and the Devil's Hands episode from the series.
- At first I was a little iffy... it's been awhile since the writers had written for Futurama together, but it's our lovable gang's first "movie" and I just had to buy it.
I'm glad I did. It had me laughing out loud several times, and overall it is probably three of my favorite "episodes" of the whole series. The plot is actually really clever and thought out, and unlike another reviewer who disliked the Fry/Leela/Lars storyline I thought it was extremely cute and sweet (including the Fry & the whale parallel). I liked how everything was tied together, although [SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER] I can't imagine Bender being okay with waiting for centuries for the year 3000. I mean, he stole from the ancient Egyptians and everything, and then waited in the basement until the exact moment he was supposed to reappear? He'd get bored after a day. I'm surprised the future wasn't changed....
Other than the ending feeling a little rushed, I don't have any reasons for why this can't get 4.5 or 5 stars. Highly enjoyable and highly recommended!!
- For fans of the series, this is a must have. The story is really well done, linking in bits from the previous seasons. Has become a favorite at our house. Looking forward to the next one.
Only disappointment is the video quality. The video seems pixelated. Does not detract from the joys of watching a well told story (that much.)
- A great tribute to the show and a treat for the fans. But waaaay too long and everything is in here including the kitchen sink.
- Overall ok, but i thought the drawing quality of the "bad guy aliens" was really well- amateurish. It detracted from the usual sharp style that is Futurama.
I'm hoping for a better showing next time.

5 comments about Meet the Robinsons.
- Meet the Robinson's is a true Disney!
Fun for all ages and a good moral, what more more can you ask fore?
But yes it offers even more... a couple of unexpected twists, and a good old "what if" play whit time-space continuum and the effects of time travel to give a little food for thought.
Great entertainment, and encouragements to "Keep moving forward"
It has already become one of my favorites, that i want to show to my friends.
- We watched this movie with our nieces and nephew and all of us really enjoyed it! Meet the Robinsons has a very creative story line, a bit strange at times, but it kept all of our attention the entire time (from a five year old to a forty year old). I gave it four stars for its difficulty to follow during some parts and strangeness, but overall I'm glad I have it as part of my video collection.
- Meet the Robinsons is truly one of Disney's best amoung the newer generation of animated movie classics. The story of a genuis inventor orphan, Lewis, and his quest to find a family takes you on a ride to the future and back. This heart-warming and funny story is one I can watch over and again, and no mater how many times I've seen it, I still ball my head off at the touching ending. The Blu-Ray version looks spectacular on my plasma TV which is particularly important, because Meet the Robinsons is full of amazing visuals. I highly recommend this movie!
- I loved this in theatres and bought it to watch with my kids. A great movie!
- I'm a long time fan of the Disney movies, especially their 3D animated flicks by Pixar. Although I've seen almost all of these films, when "Meet the Robinsons" first premiered, I found myself not feeling overly compelled to see it. I'm not sure why, except that on the surface of the promotion it didn't seem to possess the same sense of magic and wonder that other films like "Cars" or "Toy Story" generated, so I never made an effort to see the movie until it premiered on cable a couple of weeks ago. And I am happy to say that the movie was a happy surprise.
What fascinates me about Pixar/Disney films is their ability to breathe such vivid life into animated characters, to create stories that are both heartfelt and compelling, and the way they seem to never lose touch with what's it's like to see things through the eyes of a child. When you watch the story of Lewis, an orphan with a brilliant mind who is desperate to find a place where he belongs, you don't see this as an animated tale, but the story of a real little boy. A few of the scenes, in particular the one's depicting newborn Lewis being left on the doorstep of an orphanage by his mother, contain the kind of elegant and sincere cinematography as a classic film of the 40s or 50s. In these scenes, the animated characters possess the same on-screen presence as real actors.
If the film lacks anything, it's consistency. While I love the movie for what it is, and I love all the elements of it overall, as a cohesive story, the movie does bounce back and forth from touching drama to flat out slapstick humor. While other Disney/Pixar films seem to have a natural ebb and flow that maintains a strong balance between the comedic and dramatic turns in their plots, this one feels just a bit disjointed to me. Perhaps if the villain, the "Bowler Hat Guy," hadn't been so over-the-top bumbling criminal, or if the Robinson clan hadn't seemed like a futuristic Addam's family who all needed to be institutionalized for their own protection, I wouldn't have come away with the nagging thought in the back of my mind that while I enjoyed the movie a lot, there was something missing that could have made it even better.
But I still found "Meet the Robinsons" one of the better family films around, and there are definitely enough laughs to keep your kids happy, and if you are like me an adult that still has some lingering connection with your inner child, you will find enough fun moments to keep you entertained as well.

5 comments about In the Shadow of the Moon.
- I watched all these events in my thirties and wondered what my 8 year old grandson James would make of it.He is into any space type programmes but his response to this showed in real excitement and awe.It also made me relive the time and I felt after the film as i did 40 years ago if I was not a Brit I would settle for being an American What real Supermen!
- I am an avid collector of NASA dvds and information. I love this dvd because it explores a whole new angle. The only people who are interviewed are the Apollo astronauts. They all talk in detail about how they felt as the flew their missions. There are tons of crystal clear images of the missions .. many of which I have never seen before. The music is beautiful and really adds to the experience.
Overall, my favorite NASA dvd is the Nova "To The Moon", but this might overtake that. Very heartfelt. I now love Michael Collins, almost as much as my hero, Jim Lovell. The only negative thing about this dvd is the glaring non-participation of Neil Armstrong. Why he wouldn't want to be part of this amazing project is a mimystery.
I highly recommend this dvd to anyone. Add it to your collection.
- very imformative and excting to see this film. The beauty of the earth and the moon is awe inspiring. The history is also very interesting.
- In the Shadow of the Moon: A Challenging Journey to Tranquility, 1965-1969 (Outward Odyssey: A People's History of S)
This DVD is worth every penny as it shows the Shuttle Generation what the Mercury /Gemini/Apollo astronauts did to plant the flag on the moon , how we went and why we went. I rate this as a valuable part of any Homeschoolers DVD library
- I liked this DVD a lot, and would definitely recommend you get it if you like space and marvel at how great our country's space program was. Wow, we sure had smart people in America back then.
That said, I watched this video after I had watched the Apollo 13 DVD, the one with real life dialog with Gene Krantz and Jim Lovell. That DVD is a definite 5 stars because of the dialog, the graphics and real pictures from that time. So my recommendation, get them both. You'll be proud of America again.

5 comments about Stargate (Extended Cut) [Blu-ray].
- I have the original Stargate on DVD, but had to get the High Def version. Wow! Am I glad that I did. It is crystal clear even on my 80" screen. Now that is a true test of a High Def DVD. It is spectacular. More than worth buying a second copy if you already have it in DVD. If not, then get it. Great movie, awesome music and a premise that has really come into being now that the 20 year Human Genome project has proven scientifically once and for all that we are not decendants of primates. Basically there is no possible genetic link between human beings & primates. Leaving only 2 possibilities of how we got here. Either God's creation or genes from aliens, hence, Stargate.
- Watch this movie again for the first time in HD. You'll see scenes you didn't see before. The price is right at around $15.00.
Highly recommended!!!
- I saw Star Gate on BluRay and thought it was the new movie. I've seen this one before but it was great on a 42" LCD with BluRay
- There's not much else here. You get a commentary from the director and that's about it. You'd think that the bluray release of a movie that spawned a huge franchise (which I'm not really into, sorry) consisting of more than one type of show on the sci-fi channel would have some special features. Give me Something.
But besides that the movie looks great. I mean they probably never expected there to be defintion this good because if you watch it on bluray there is a scene (no lie) that you can see the film crew in the reflection of one of the soldiers sunglasses!!! And it's not a close up shot! Thats why I said they probably never even dream that that would be a problem. When they watched things back in editing they probably never even noticed it! HD is great.
So, overall its a good movie and a great collection for bluray but there's not much as far as extras to keep the disc in for long
- I just found the special edition on SD in the WAL-MART bargain bin less than a year ago, so I was a little squeamish at shelling out cash again for a movie I already own. However, the need to fire up special effects on my HDTV won over my cheapness.
The picture and sound is definitely an improvement, I noticed much greater detail and the extra footage was nice but didn't really change the story much.
There is not the same drastic difference in DVD to BLU-RAY as on say the Disney and Fox disks, but it is better and at a good price if you are a fan of the film. If you're not a fan, you are better off digging in the bargain bins or buying the standard DVD from Amazon.
The story is a good concept that was turned into a great TV show (SG-1). I saw this movie released in the theater when I was in college and only loved the first half of the film and merely thought of the second act as a poorly orchestrated "Dune" rip-off. Now that I am older, I think the movie stands the test of time and the second part is just the result of a good popcorn sci-fi actioner. In fact, director Roland Emmerich went on to direct many Sci-fi disaster films that I enjoy on regular basis. I recommend it.

5 comments about The Terminator [Blu-ray].
- I have been waiting for a decent film transfer of this movie since the original DVD which was non-letterbox stereo. Boy did that one suck. I am sure the 2001 DVD release re-mastered from HD and 5.1 audio was much better. But I waited for this one and it's 100x better. The menu is cool but would have been even better with a faster interface response like HD-DVD provided. Let's hope Java-BD offers better menu speed/quality/consistency that all of us were used to on HD-DVD.
- In my mind when you are just slapping dvd auality on to a Blu-ray disk you are false advertising and ripping the public off. No one needs or wants a blu-ray film simply for the disk itself but they want a better movie. Sure they have the uncompressed audio but the picture quality sucks. If you have the DVD keep it and foget this.
Great movie poor Blu-ray port
- Good condition and would use the seller again if ever given the opportunity to do so.
- Although I purchased the Lenticular edition, I received the regular DVD.
The PROOF OF PURCHASE code on the case is 1001182, which is for the regular DVD.
The UPC sticker that is taped to the plastic wrap has the Lenticular edition code, but the case itself has the UPC code for the regular DVD of 00027616854735.
I'm asking Amazon for a refund of the price difference of $5.50.
- This was one of my favorite films growing up. And now that I am older not only do I still like the action and the suspense of the piece but I understand more of the science behind it. Basically this is a must for DVD collectors and Arnold lovers. In my opinion it is one of the best films of the eighties and helped define Hollywood!!

Great movie poor Blu-ray port
- I do not know why the reviews stating that this is the ultimate edition are listed here. This is simply the short version of the movie slapped onto a blu-ray disk. It does look very good, but, if I had known that none of the extended scenes were on this disk, not to mention that the special features are slim at best, I would have waited for a version that actually had the features that make Blu-Ray worth having.
- A good movie overall. Keeps the action going from T1. But something that has always bugged me is who cast the kid? This kid is supposed to grow up to defeat the Terminators?! With what? His handbag? Did they have to pick someone so... "happy"? I think that poor casting decision really took away from the movie and the trilogy. There are a million kids who could have played that part. Why did they cast him and give him such a sissy haircut? And before anyone jumps down my throat, I'll remind you that this is America. I don't have to be politically correct. I'll bet most people who watch the movie would agree with my observation that this casting decision was a poor one.
- It was awsome the first time around and even better now on blu-ray, get em all Enjoy
- Terminator 2 is arguably Schwarzenegger's most famous role, and the plot by now is fairly well known. In the original Terminator, Schwarzenegger had been sent back to kill Sarah Connor before she could give birth to her son, John Connor, who would destory SkyNet in the future. The plan goes awry when Kyle Reese not only sucessfully protects Sarah, but fathers John. In Terminator 2, SkyNet tries again, this time with Schwarzenegger's Terminator character playing the role of protector.
Considering that this film was made in the early 90's, I was astounded by the quality of the transfer. Do note that this does not have any of the deleted scenes or such from the (many) DVD versions -- but nevertheless, the image and audio quality was superb, and an excellent polish to a great film.

2 comments about Stargate: Continuum.
- It seems like I have been waiting for this movie forever. I am a fan of the original Stargate SG1, and I think that without RDA and the Jack O'Neill character the series went downhill. I was under the impression that Jack O'Neill is featured in the movie, so I thought I'd mosey on over to Amazon and pre-order the movie. When I dial it up, I see that Richard Dean Anderson is not even listed with the major stars--all I can say to myself is "what gives here???"
I guess I'm going to pre-order the movie and check further. I can always cancel my order. Right??
Anyway, call me disappointed on this one....
- Though I also admire RDA and his ascerbic wit, the new 'crew' more than compensate this loss. In the military (and life), people move on, and we must change. Ben is different enough to not clash with 'replacement scepticism', but fits in with the other characters enough to make him the best replacement for OIC SG1.
In the end, it is the story, not the personalities that make great saga's. Maybe it is growing up with Dr Who, and the need to adjust every 3-5 years; but i say - bring more of the new SG1 in I love it. If you like RDA, there are 8 wonderful years on DVD.
Or visit Australia - our version of Scifi Channel just likes to regurgitate old episodes of shows that really should be on TV1. So it is Stargate or Star Trek I'm afraid.
Ah to have a real Scifi channel!
Maybe in my next life i can be reborn in Canada and be finally 'with it'.
