1. This is a great book for anyone who loves thailand or art from asia.The pictures are wonderful and beautifully done.This books focuses on thai architecture, its arts and crafts, and history. This is one of my favorite books and i recommend it to anyone who appriciates art.



2. Thai Style is a book for the eye, as well as those interested in better understanding the merging of Asian cultures. This book is filled with great compilation of gorgeous photos within every chapter and every subject. You�ll see everything from a private collection of coconut scrapers and lawn temples to ornately built houses (and palaces) and lavish swimming pools. The photos are clean, professionally shot, and well suited for the text that they accompany.

   For the architecture student, professor, interior decorator, casual home enthusiast, tropical gardener, or if you hold a special affinity for Thailand, this would make a great gift. In many ways it feels like a miniature coffee table book. History is discussed at length, and an entire chapter is devoted to adapted traditions in �Thai style�. Even though there obviously foreign influences, everything about what�s pictured seems magically and instantly Thai.

1. This book is both a scholar's and an arm-chair traveller's delight as you travel through Thailand (and Burma) through the eyes of travellers from different times and places. I found the differing views of daily life very interesting. There is also much to read about in the areas of wats/bots (temples) and asian art. It's not an easy read, though, and I found the print too small for prolonged sampling.

1. I got alot out of this map- it fell apart in my hands after the 3rd day I used it to death! Its written and reviewed by a foreigner living in the city for many years so there is alot of local insight into Bangkok, Thai people, the way things work etc. I was happy to be prepared about all these places and things to do as well as those insider tips and top 10 things to do. Quite Funny as well in places. Thanks to the crew over there for makign what is a huge place seem easy to deal with. Ed C.

1. While this guide has its shortcomings (mostly in under-reviewed sections of the country), the writing is fresh, intelligent and insightful. The authors have tried very admirably to cover every province of Thailand, which is surely no small task. The snippets of history and other information throughout the volume provide very well a background to the areas covered. Bravo.



2. I got this guidebook after meeting one of the authors in the late 1990's. For the market they were targeting (budget backpacker), I thought the guide was excellent. The major drawback I recall is that there was no information on accomodation and restaurants above the budget level, which can be a drawback if you are looking to splurge and have no ideas of places to go on your own.
   
   The authors all went their separate ways professionally and went on to different careers a few years after this was written (their first and only other guide was a Vietnam guidebook). And, there's no doubt about it, with competition such as Rough Guide and Lonely Planet, its a tough business to be in.

1. I wrote a review on this 2 months ago, but I hope this one go's in. I went there, saw it and done it. The book is very accurate and a great guide to the islands, I recommend it to all first time visitors- don't forget to visit the ragga club on the east side, the owner also has great living accomadations on the ocean for the tourist.

1. What an intriguing series of snapshots we are treated to in Charmiene/Sita's account of her travels. It makes you want to go to India yourself with an informed itinerary thanks to Sita's guidance, she having done the hard work of discernment through her adventurous experiences! The photos and graphics she illustrates her journey with lend much to the sense of seeing these things through her eyes. I expect you'd be seeing India anew even if you'd already been there yourself. Sita's background in ethnobiology gives her the insightful ability to synthesize the lessons garnered in her travels into universally familiar observations on the Nature of Being.
