1. The many colored photographs in this book give a wonderful view of Spain's diverse landscape and cultural events. I use it in my high school Spanish classes to show the students what the Plaza Mayor and post office in Madrid look like, what a Semana Santa procession is, and much more. If you are looking for photographs of Spain, this book would be a good choice.

1. This traveller's history takes the visitor to Portugal on a tour of the country exploring historical links everywhere. It digs deep into the history of Portugal, even before Portugal, and Lusitania (the Roman province where most of Portugal is now), and discusses treasures like the recently found cave drawings of the Coa valley in the Douro. It also has other interesting features like a chapter on music and one on birds. There is one on wine too. This is a serious work that also makes good beach or bedtime reading. It is something to be thankful for at a time when a lot is being published on Portugal, but the quality varies. I have read some amateurish books on Portuguese language life and culture and World cultures Portugal. After that experience, it is refreshing to have something you feel is a competent work like Livermore's traveller's history. Thank you!

1. I've had good luck with the Time Out guide series- London, Amsterdam, Berlin- it's always been there for me. On my recent trip to Andalucia, I was unaware that this particular Time Out guide existed until I saw it at Heathrow airport, so of course I snatched it up. And... well- it was pretty dissappointing. Wife and I still referred to three times as often as we did our Fodor's (let alone the near useless Michelin guide to Spain) but I just felt like it was more of a "miss" then a "hit." Perhaps that's just a reflection of the fact that southern spain is not the hip n' happening local that Time Out excels at covering...
   
   One main example came in Granada, where we found this totally cool student bar- Bar Liberia, where they specialized in playing jazz and soul records & where the beers were literally cheaper then anywhere else in the city. Also, the bar had been there for 25 years and yet- not in the Time Out guide.
   
   Another example came on our visit to the Alhambra- which is- I might ad- the number one tourist attraction in Spain. We had purchased our tickets in advance via the internet. Time Out told us to get there super early to wait in line to pick up our tickets, so we went way early only to find out that they had ticket dispensing kiosk's for pre purchased tickets- no waiting necessa

2. Living in Alicante now, I bought this guide before we moved here. It is really great. Compact and with lots of useful information. I recommend it even on my alicante-spain web site.



3. I got this little book a few weeks ago and it seems pretty helpful. There's a lot of information about the each specific area in costa blanca (especially the main ones, of course), which is good because in general Spain travel books, it's hard to find a lot. I think it will be useful, but I haven't taken the trip yet!

1. Nothing (well, only the "Guia Turistica" beneath the title) in the information given about this guidebook prepares you for a Spanish language guidebook. However, for only $7.16, I'm going to keep it - who knows, maybe I'll learn enough Spanish on my trip to be able to read it someday!



2. Like a previous reviewer, I was dismayed to receive this book and find that it was in Spanish; the fact that it was the Spanish version was buried in the comments section & the title made no indication it was Spanish. Buyer beware!



3. This book is a great ENGLISH guide book, so you can disregard the two previous reviewers comments. They were not commenting on the book itself, but reporting a problem in Amazon's system that has obviously been corrected. Reviews are meant for reviewing the product, not to report ISBN issues to Amazon which can be done another way....
