5 comments about Latin America by Bike: A Complete Touring Guide (By Bike).
- this book is about some tours the autor made in the latin american countrys.
I expected a technic guide about bike travel, but it s not.
Only the kind of informations you ve got in other guides and not so complete.
It s not a bad book, but it s not the one I thought.
sorry to give a bad review, I m sure a lot of people have found good and useful informations in it, but not me.
Max
- This is a great reference book to help with planning your trip. Most of the information still applies even though the book was written in 1993. Be sure to do your own research on political circumstances and health requirements before you leave though.
Each country is divided into the following sections:
* Intro to the country
* Cycle Zones - each geographic region of the country is listed whether there is a tour in the area or not. Terrain, Scenery, Cultural Interest, and Weather for each zone is described.
* Tour Route Description with Map - Route described by mile points. The maps are not great, but get the point across.
* General Information: Getting to the Country, Documents, Accommodations, Drinks, Health, Money, and Security
* Cycling Information: Bicycles, Roads, Maps, and Bike Transport (other than riding)
The appendices are fantastic. He has included a packing list, list of recommended shots, temperature tables and biking words in Spanish. These alone have been of great assistance, but the "Safety Awareness Chart" is a little out of date.
The routes are usually circle route - beginning and ending at the same location, but each geographic area is described whether there is a route in it or not. The author does state that the routes are designed for people who have some time in a country to do a limited amount of cycle touring. You can incorporate these routes into your own path with little difficulty.
Note: There is information on but no routes in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, or Uruguay.
- I can only speak to the information for Costa Rica, but this book is way out of date for this country at least. The reach of the guide is too broad to be a really good route guide for so many extremely varied countries.
- I had ordered a air purifier UV light from Absolute Home on April 26, 2006. They were quick to get their money from my account but after 2 months of not recieving my order I called them up and was assured I would recieve my order Within a month. Now it is July and ONCE again I will have to call to see what excuse they offer for not sending out my order. I would recommend that people find another place to do buisness.
S.K.
- I'm a fairly experience touring cyclist and this book offered nothing in terms of being able to plan routes or get a comprehensive semi-plan before embarking to a country. For example, all the author had to say about Panama was that one should not bike there. Not a helpful guide, I would stick to the lonely planet cycle guides (although there is not one for South America that I know of).

1 comments about Emanuel County Georgia (GA) (Images of America).
- I thought that this book was fantastic. I'm into genealogy and have ancestors from this county. So the photos and writeups were great. This is my second book because I donated my first book to the Stillmore Museum in Emanuel County.

4 comments about Moon Handbooks Buenos Aires (Moon Handbooks).
- South American guidebooks aren't as plentiful as those from other parts of the world, so I often have to buy several to get complete information. This Buenos Aires edition from Moon Handbooks was surprising because it not only included some great information on the city, but had better information on surrounding areas like Montevideo than my other Uruguay book. Also included up-to-date hotel information that was simply missing from the others.
- I just spent six weeks in Buenos Aires and used this book as a guide to my daily activities. Useful for more than just getting around, the book gives a careful, balanced view of many aspects of life in BsAs. The list of suggested readings in the back of the book shows the author's good taste. Instead of a book filled with hyperboles and hasty suggestions, you have a volume of reliable, thoughtful observations. An excellent companion to the beautiful city.
- Of the five Argentina guides I brought with me (3/2006) this guide is the least useful and, the most out of date. Do not let the publishing date fool you; the information in this guide comes from research done in 2001/2002.
In the past four years much has changed in Buenos Aires. None of the hotel rates given in this guide are anywhere near what is being charged today. There are hotels that charge triple what this guide quotes.
The writing is uninspired and reads like something that you would read a government office of tourism. There is little information to helps you connect with the unique culture and characteristics of Buenos Aires. The maps in this guide are very difficult to use. The publisher has crammed everything on one map: hotels, restaurants, sights to see, etc. There are much better maps in other guides. The guide's recommendations for restaurants is sub-par in comparison to other guides.
For Buenos Aires, one of the best guides out is Fodor's `Argentina'. Fodor's has excellent maps of the city and it has great recommendations for both restaurants and accommodations. Caveat: only use Fodor's `Argentina' (3rd edition) for Buenos Aires, outside of the capitol Fodor's is dismal as a guide. For a great all around Argentina guide consider either Lonely Planet Argentina 2005 or Rough Guide Argentina 2005. This guide is not recommended.
- I have traveled to most all "corners" of the world and purchased many guidebooks. This one is without a doubt the best yet. The prices quoted are about 2/3 of actual but the economy in Argentina changes quickly at times and all are in relation to inflated costs per vendor. My congratulations to the writer and thank you for making my trip so much better!

5 comments about Walt Disney World for Adults: The Original Guide for Grownups (Rita Aero's Walt Disney World for Adults).
- Having been to WDW several times, and always purchasing a guidebook before leaving to get recent updates, I came upon Rita Aeros book, Walt Disney World for Adults by accident. I initially purchased the book for the coupon values and was disappointed when discovering they were no longer valid. I intended to return the book after discovering the expiration of the coupons but decided to check out the website before I did. This was the BEST decision I could have made. Not only did I keep the book and read it thoroughly, but I have discovered a wealth of information on her web site. It is truly the most informative, user friendly web site you could possibly find anywhere. I have already saved hundreds of dollars using the information I have gleaned. This book and its accompanying web site are unsurpassed for value. Rita Aero's book has done a marvelous job in breaking down all the different areas of WDW (hotels, transportation, restaurants, theme parks, etc.). with honest evaluations, in an easy to read and comprehensive style.
- We thought this guide book the best of the bunch - it is well laid out and easy to read with great maps of every area in the 'World'. Best of all, buying it enables you to access Rita's great Website, which is chock full of up-to-the-minute, detailed tips and trip reports as well as updates on attractions and happenings at WDW. A great plus!!
- This is the book that has it all. Resorts, Restaurants, Parks, Attractions, Night Clubs, Sports, Kids, Family, Groups, Discounts, Charts, Ratings, Reviews, Tips, Tricks, Secrets, etc, etc.
The information in this edition is still fresher and more accurate than any 1999 guidebook, and I should know, I visit WDW at least four times per year. Other guidebooks are just repackaged every year with a new cover. Note: I found the Animal Kingdom chapter in this edition to be a bit weak, but I found marvelous AK information on the book's website. This is the only book to have ever included useful coupons, but they expired recently. The book's website has lots of good electronic coupons in the Readers' Clubhouse. The clubhouse has excellent information and wonderful community! I saved $768 last trip. NO other guidebook (and I have them all) can match the quality of Rita Aero's work, and no other major guidebook has a website or a supporting author. This one is a MUST HAVE! Thanks for the magical vacations, Rita!
- After being disappointed by other guidebooks, I finally bought Aero's book and was amazed by the wealth of planning insight. This book is nothing short of empowerment for family vacation planning. For the first time we enjoyed a vacation where we all equally loved the hotel, restaurants, and rides. This book is a vacation saver.
- Rita's book is the best guide book written to date. We found it very informative and the coupons in the back were wonderful! We used most of them. The maps were extremelty helpful! We copied them and handed them out to all our family members. We have been going to WDW twice a year for seven or eight years, and have purchased many books, this book is outstanding!

1 comments about Fort Pierce (FL) (Images of America).
- This is an excellent book for one who seeks to know the Fort Pierce of the past. As this Fort Pierce is now only one of memory and is buried under progress, it is a great source for memories, for reminiscence, and for historical research.
Ada Coates Williams is not just a descendant of one of the pioneer families of Fort Pierce, but she is a noted Florida historian in her own right.
The buyer can feel thankful that she took the time to compile the photographs and commentaries to share with those of us who remember an older and different Florida and Fort Pierce.
I had the pleasure of having her as my 8th grade Florida history teacher and am aware of her deep love for her subject!
