- I didn't like the author's view, respecting Bolivia, because it doesn't give areal idea about what this country really is, I think this guy had a very bad trip to Bolivia because he speaks in a very bad way about it. I advise to all of you for not to buy this book, it is really trash.
- A top drawer travel guide should not only give you reliable facts and information on the country you are going to, but paint pictures, tell stories and capture your imagination while stimulating your desire to go and explore.
The Bolivia handbook does all of these and more. Murphy's section on Culture is the best anthropological treatment in travel handbooks on the market today. He has a few week areas, but they are minor. His section "Responsible Tourism" (Eco-Tourism) could stand more in depth treatment of the state of ecology.
And, a personal area of irritation, especial for a "Yank", is Murphy (who is English) elected to use only the metric system, forgetting that most Americans have yet to grasp metric conversion. Thus, Lake Titicaca covers 8,300 sq. km., rises 5m each season and have temperature that get down to -25C. Hum. Recommended.
- I really enjoyed this travel book: Even though my family-in-law is Bolivian, this book still offered new information (to them and me) and really helped me get around. Lots of practical info on banks and restaurants for the seasoned traveller. The best part is all the historical and cultural information which is an interesting read in itself. Very up-to-date with funny descriptions of some of the more adventurous activities in Bolivia. Highly recommended.
- I was saddened by this review. As author of Footprint's Bolivia Handbook, and someone who lived in La Paz for a while, I have a deep affection for the country and its people. The accusation that I "speak in a very bad way" about the country is deeply offensive and shows that the reader hasn't bothered to read the text thoroughly before sharing their views. This guidebook is by no means perfect - no guidebook every can be - but at least it strives to be honest. Sometimes, unfortunately, certain people take exception to this policy.

- If you plan to visit WDW without children, this book gives you a summary of attractions worth seeing, and skips over those less-memorable attractions. However, if you want to see what creates Disney magic for all ages, this may not be the best guide. There are many sites that will charm adult visitors which are simply not mentioned in this book. If you have limited time, and only want to experience the not-to-be-missed attractions, this will give you a quick overview. Reviews of resorts and restaurants are accurate, but again you will be missing out on some of what Disney does best. After all, aren't we here to recapture some of out childhood fantasies? I would use this guide as an outline for my adult vacation, but would do a little more reading as well.
- This book is a godsend. Without it, I would have thrown myself to the Animal Kingdom's elephants for lack of appropriate vacation ideas.

- You will absolutely, positively not find another guidebook on Chile that can compare with this one. Terrifically comprehensive and loaded with color photographs - many of them taken by the author - this book is obviously a labor of love. Highly recommended, whether you're looking to read up on specifc topics or going straight through, cover to cover.
- If you are a casual traveler, you might find something you weren't expecting. This is so complete, you'll find just what you're looking for. If you are an outdoor-adventure type, this is a must have for the time of your life. If you like history and architecture, you'll find it here. Chile, that skinny little country is full of fun and adventure. Josh Howell is the perfect guide.
- Chile's very own publisher has finally produced and English language complement to their well established line of Chilean guide books and maps. Travel Guide: Chile Experience is much more than a guide book. It's a lesson in culture, history, flora, fauna, gastronomy and more!
Written by a man who has spent the better part of his adult life in Chile, this book offers a perspective of Chile no Andean traveler should be without. From history and flora to indigenous culture, architecture and adventure this book educates the reader, adding depth to hikes, tours and conversation. With maps, precise explanations and well researched tour suggestions and contact information, this book also offers detailed and digestible information for travelers interested in adventure and remote locations. Finally, with charts, topographical maps and satellite imagery, this book pulls ahead of the leading pack of travel guides. Apart from the flowing, easy-to-read writing style, the maps and excellent graphics truly make this book a must have.
- Traveling is not a dream. Traveling is a need. Man, in state of nature, is an explorator. A traveler.
So begins Chile Experience, a very interesting and complete travel guide. It's not an ordinary guide. At your bookshop's, you can find - you know, this kind of so-called guide which topics look like dictionary definitions... or books full of pictures, in which explanations are non-existent or so. Chile Experience includes both, and, moreover, it has been written by a Chile's lover, I guess. From Atacama desert to Patagonian pampa, from Chile's climate to its history, this book involves the reader in the discovery of a culture, a country, a Nature whose riches we can hardly imagine. The proverb says that traveling makes youth. Find a second youth in Chile - through this guide !

- I felt the book, although lagging at some parts, was over all a good read. I say if you are a Disney Nut, get it!
- In some ways, I found this book refreshing. The attraction descriptions were infromative and refreshing. I have read several WDW guide books, and I still learned new things about the attractions from this book. This is the only book I've ran accross that reports that Bear in the Blue House is at Disney/MGM. (Some people could care less about this, but as a mother of 2 under the age of three, I'm excited!)
This book does fall short when looking for specific details. Oppenheimer will tell you the phone number to make character meal reservations, but she won't warn you that in order to get a meal at Cinderella's table, you MUST call two months in advance. I tried one month in advance, and couldn't get any seating for the entire week! (This was just at Cinderella's Table, I did get reservations at the crystal Palace.) Also she doesn't give complete information as to which characters are at which locations. I did like the fact that Oppenheimer will tell the reader whether or not adults not traveling with children will enjoy an attraction. Bear in the Blue House is too syrupy sweet for adults, but preschoolers love it. She also was nice enough to tell the reader that they may not fully understand Doug Live, if they are not familiar with the TV show. Why are Doug's friends blue and green? Because they're not real! Who knew? Another thing that bothered me about the book was that the 'Where To Stay' section was at the back of the book. I found that puzzling, because the first thing people want to do is get hotel reservations. Also the dining section was at the back of the book. People are wondering where to dine when they're at the park, and having to flip to another section of the book is inconvienent and annoying. The candidness of Oppenheimer was enjoyable, such as the biggest obsticle in the Buzz Ranger spin may be your co-pilot. Just as she was aiming for a target, her co-pilot would spin the ship and she lost her shot. I didn't know there were two light guns and one steering joy stick. I'll take this one with a child instead of my husband! Use This guide as a supplement to another guide. The Unofficial Guide by Slessinger is loaded with details and touring strategies. WDW with Kids, by Kim Wright Wiley gives lots of advice with respect to kids. This guide has candid descriptions.
- My fiance and I purchased this book as part of our honeymoon-planning "frenzy." We hoped to find some really interesting information about Orlando that would help us in that regard. Sadly for us (but fortunately for families with kids), this book was not aimed at a pair of adults at all. It was decidedly slanted toward those with little ones. There was some interesting information about little "behind the scenes" factoids, but this just wasn't the book for us.
