5 comments about Trekking in Bolivia: A Traveler's Guide (Trekking In...).
- We were looking for off the beaten path backpack trips. In Brain's book we found the standard 'Inca Trail' routes that everyone writes about in addition to trips where we would saw no other tourist for several days. There are about 3 times as many routes described in Brain's book compared to the Brandt Guide. Also we found the Brain book more up to date. The only disappointment was that some of the descriptions were just plain incorrect. I got a feeling that this book was rushed to press.
- We found the maps and hiking times listed for destinations very inaccurate. The description of the trail routes lack detail and can be very confusing. One of the hikes we did in Boliva was the Choro Trial. This is ONE of the 3 Inca Trails in Boliva. One would assume that of any treks, this one would have been accurate. Not the case. If you are looking for a guide book to help you plan your treks in Boliva and/or Peru go with the Brant Guide book.
- Don't bother buying this book, it is no good. Inaccurate maps and descriptions and smart-ass writing style.
- Yossi Brain's Trekking in Bolivia is an excellent book from a superb mountain guide who obviously knows Bolivia and her mountains well. If you're planning on hiking in this magnificent country, then Brain's book is the one for you!
- A good guide for longer trekking options. However, most of the are located in the same area. Could be better if the book had sorted them based on lenght and difficulty. For someone who is only going to trek, think it has a some great advice. However to get a little bit of both tourist trails and hardcore trek, I would not recommend this book

3 comments about Insiders' Guide to Washington, D.C., 6th (Insiders' Guide Series).
- I bought this book from Amazon.com before moving to the DC area, and I must say, it has been quite helpful. The information (hours, phone numbers) is still current, and it covers a variety of issues. Whether you're looking for kids' activities of trendy night spots, this book has it all.
If you are moving to the area, and will be without an extended support network initially, I'd recommend buying this book, to provide you with new ideas, and to fill you in on life in general here. Some drawbacks. The authors definitely love this area; that's great, but I feel they are too optimistic on their neighborhood descriptions. Reading this book, you'd think all of DC and the surrounding areas were safe to live in, but the reality is the opposite. Sometimes they are a bit too "PC" in their descriptions, and this takes away from reality. Additionally, sometimes things are difficult to find in the index. Overall though, a great buy!
- A must for anyone interested in learning more about the area or are planning a visit. Well written, informative and interesting. My highest recommendation!
- This was the best tour book ever. It helped my family find all the info we needed for our trip to D.C. We love you mary jane solomon!

1 comments about Cape Hatteras: America's Lighthouse.
- Cape Hatteras: America's Lighthouse is a treasure to all of us who love what is arguably the most famous lighthouse in the world. The authors should be commended for writing not only a fascinating look into the past and future of this great beacon, but also a damn fine tale of passion, perseverance, intrigue, romance, grand schemes, utter calamities, and vast heroism.
This is an important bit of American history but it is not a dry text. This book is a real page-turner, one that will illuminate your mind as surely as the Hatteras lighthouse on a frightening, dark sea. Like the mariners which once depended on the light to skirt a dangerous coast, after you finish reading this book, you will be grateful for the experience.

- Wisconsin-based author Lee Ellis knows that the only thing better than cheap is free. That premise is embraced by budget travelers, who will enjoy his new book, "Free Tours, Museums and Sites in America: Southern States Series." This edition covers all sorts of sightseeing in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas, organized in alphabetical order by cities within state chapters. The book offers good free-admission finds such as the Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, the Sid Richardson Collection of Western Art in Fort Worth and the Japanese Tea Garden in San Antonio's Brackenridge Park.
- Compiled and written by Lee Ellis, Free Tours, Museums, And Sites In America: Southern States Series is a solidly presented guide designed specifically for those seeking economical travel advice and entertainment suggestions in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. 1 comments about Peru - Lonely Planet En Espaol (Lonely Planet Peru).
