1 comments about Portrait of Seattle.
- Having grown up in Seattle, describing it to strangers is very challenging. Seattle is a mix and dichotomy of cultures and styles. One week may have a festival honoring Scandinavians and the next a Jewish festival, the next celebrating a Chinese New Year or a festival where the goal is to eat as much as you can without throwing up. The architecture changes from block to block, the anarchy creating a unique and unified landscape that is distinctly Seattle. It is a place of technology, mystisism and ecology, surrounded by water on all sides and set near the intersection of two major mountain ranges, just below the magnificent Mt. Rainier.
Capturing all that makes Seattle special and unique has been a challenge for many photographers and no one has done it with the style and class of Charles Krebs in this wonderful portrait of Seattle. He captures the visual distinctions, the ethnic variety, the length and breath of all that is Seattle. This is a must take home souvenieur for everyone who visits the city, and a great insight book for those wishing to visit. This book has been given to sister cities and international visiting vips for years and continues to be the best visual representation of the city. Truly the best by a fantastic artist.

2 comments about Seattle: The Best of Emerald City: An Impertinent Insiders' Guide ("Best of . . ." City Series).
- This book has been very helpful in planning my first distance adventure by myself. Instead of reading EVERYTHING about Seattle, it narrows down things to the important information of opportunities that I have in my short week visit. This has been a great help in deciding upon B&Bs and hotels, baseball tickets, boat excursions, etc. It is a must read for planning a trip to Seattle.
- I bought a few guide books to plan a trip to Seattle, the city of my birth. With only a few days to spend, The title attracted me because it is the TEN BEST THINGS to do.
225 pages on TEN THINGS? NO MAPS - all landmarks are the same print color, events tend to blend into one another. Also the book is large, not an easy fit into the purse. I recommend Access Seattle, which is a great guide full of easy to read maps, wonderful reviews and an easy to read lay out! Also gives you clues into festivals different times of the year. Not to mention, a good size to fit into a bag. I gave it two stars because the book is rich in history. So, it is an interesting read, but I would not plan a vacation around it.

1 comments about Clueless in Seattle.
- This book is excellent bathroom or airplane reading. The author
dissects and exaggerates various personality types all of us have seen or been
at one time or another in our lives. It is an antidote to the ultrasweetness of Sleepless
in Seattle (which the hopeless romantic in me actually enjoyed). This book may annoy some, but
for those with a bizarre sense of the comical in man/woman interactions, this is a must read.
I have recommended it to by brightest, weirdest, single friends---you should too!

- This copy of the Entertainment Book has expired as of November 1, 2007. They always come out the Summer of the previous year. For example I have already received the one for 2008. Do not buy this book! If you want a new one go to the Entertainment website and order it directly from them! I love these books and buy them every year but this one is no longer good!

- My wife and I really enjoyed using this book. Walks on Capital Hill to Magnolia to Pioneer Square revealed many things that we did not take the time to notice before.
Our favorite was probably Capital Hill, it tooks us about 3.5 hours to complete and we've done it many times since.

1 comments about Fodor's Around Seattle with Kids, 1st Edition: 68 Great Things to Do Together (Around the City with Kids).
- Good Book! Suggestions for entertaining kids of all ages and temperaments. Happy that the food options for kids at each place were listed, as well as prices, entry times, and age recommendations.
The most important info was highlighted at page tops (great!).
EXPERIENCE MUSIC PROJECT was a hit for both our 8 yr old granddaughter and 11 year old, hyperactive grandson!
This would be a great resource for parents & grandparents who were visiting Seattle for the first time with children.

2 comments about The Rough Guide to Seattle Mini (Rough Guide (Pocket)).
- One of the reasons why I use this book is beacause it has wonderful tidbits and stories about the people and places that influence the Seattle scene. The book is easy to read and can give travelers a quick review on Seattle customs. Descriptions of the restaurants are thorough and offer suggestions of affordable places to grab a quick bite or sit down for a luxorious meal. The authors are honest about the social mix of people found here in the city...providing a section that talks about the areas populated and visited by the gay community. The small book can easily fit into the palm of your hand and is petite enough to fit into any small side pocket of travel gear - a handy feature for the frequent traveler! I reccommend this book in combination with the Lonely Planet: Seattle book and the Fodors Compass guide for Washington (state, that is).
- On it's own, this book is too tiny to help anyone who's visiting seattle for more than a day. It has a paragraph or two about the most common attractions, restaurants, parks, etc. However, since it has great, detailed maps, and it's so small, it's great to tuck in a backpack. When I have friends come to visit, I give it to them to carry around during the day- it's wonderful to consult to find a good spot to grab a lunch, or to be reminded what sights there are to see in whatever neighborhood they're in. If you have a bigger guidebook that you normally use, this is a great, portable supplement.

2 comments about Touring Seattle by Bicycle.
- This is the most comprehensive guide that I have ever seen. I believe that all route books should follow the design and style of this. It definitely puts all others to shame. It is even small enough to carry in your bike bag or pocket. This book is a MUST!
- This book really needs to be updated. Due to the publishing date, the trails described are difficult to reach using the directions in the book and the trails do not match the descriptions. For example, the book shows the Burke-Gilman trail ending at 12.5 miles, but it now goes 27+ miles, all the way to Redmond. Similarly, the Green River trail is one of the best trails in the region, but this book hardly mentions it. I like exploring dead ends and getting lost, but updating this book would make it much easier to use.
