- This book does a terrific job of capturing the beauty of the Seattle area. It's a perfect blend of landscapes, lighthouses, animals, city landmarks, mountain ranges, and waterways in each season.
Even though it is titled "Wild Seattle" it encompasses much more including Skagit Valley (tulips), the San Juans, Deception Pass, orcas, the Olympics, Cascades, and plenty of written information as well.
It's my favorite Seattle book!
- we bought the book for friends returning home to germany. when we looked through it, we knew we also would buy one for ourselves. it somehow grabs the spirit of the puget sound.
buy it.

- I really liked how well Seattle was described, though in a very general manner. Small glimpses of the city were given and well critiqued. Very helpful, even for relocation.
- This is as good as a guidebook can get.
It is concise- it is not a encylopedia volume to lug around town; It is informative- with history of the city and its surroundings, the book is very thorough and written very very well; It is well illustrated- restaurants, hotels, attractions are color-coded differently and there are a ton of great illustrations that really do justice to the charm of the city. Despite having grown up in Seattle, this book opened my eyes to a whole new world of places to go and restaurants to check out that I previously didn't see. I would like to shake the hand of the man who put together such a fine guidebook- I have one for the Washington DC area as well!

3 comments about Night Before Christmas In Seattle, The.
- A cute book (literally as it is about 3 1/2 inches by 5 inches), great for a stocking stuffer! The author throws various Seattle bits into the tale--the Needle, Pacific Science Center, Boeing and even the Sonics, Seahawks and Mariners. Know someone moving to Seattle? Here's your gift for them! Are you from Seattle? Give this to your friends and relatives! This would also be a nice souvenier.
- Recently, while looking through my childhood pictures, I found a picture of our family trip to the Space Needle in December of 1974. There I am sitting next to the big windows with a huge red ribbon in my hair and a red, white and blue dessert topped with chocolate, which looks most delicious and magical.
It was a day I never forgot because the restaurant rotates and I'd never seen anything like that in my life. Since then we have made many trips back to the Space Needle and I took my nieces up to the restaurant for a special treat when we visited a few years ago.
I had to laugh while reading this tiny book because it seems I remember something about a Santa ornament or Christmas ornament being stuck out side the window and we kept seeing it as we spun slowly around in the restaurant. In this story, Santa gets stuck on the top of the Space Needle.
"The last thing he remembered,
he'd flown by a Seagull
And now here he was,
Stuck atop the Space Needle!"
There are references to shopping in Pioneer Square, working at Boeing, watching the Christmas Parade of the Ships and visits to Pike Place Market. The restaurant at the top of the Space Needle spins out of control and a cry for help is sent out from Lake Washington to the Puget Sound. Can Boeing help or will it take the Seahawks and the Mariners to get Santa down off the Space Needle?
An enjoyable treat that will be loved by anyone who loves Seattle, Washington.

- the book was very enjoyable, and used many of the places that are famous here in seattle. It will be a very neat keepsake of my stay here in the city

- This guide provides the most insight into this misunderstood city. The 306 pages have just as many pictures as pages letting you picture what you want to see before ending up in a bad part of town.

5 comments about Artificial Imagination: A humorous photo story of a journey through California, Seattle and Nashville.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R27056TEI8N6A9 his book transcends genre -- it's a good collection of memoirs, entertaining style, nice splash of humor, an extremely detailed travelogue with beautiful photographs, a good description of technology, a touch of Science Fiction (since it is purportedly written by a Artificial Imagination program) and suffused with philosophical musings.
Even though it's obviously written by a Technologist, the book is very human. It is primarily about the immigrant experience, but Kalpanik is extremely observant and has an eye to look for the unusual, notice what stands out and build humorous side of people, places and his own life.
Wonderful! one can feel a touch of his bitter-sweet experiences but one is encouraged by his ability to find humor everywhere.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3MNQP39J0TE6R Great book, will make you laugh, smile, giggle, chuckle, giggle, crack up, guffaw and generally have a good time. Extremely nice photos. And it is actually very thoughtful, one can quickly see through the pretended thoughtlessness. Here are some posters and calendars with the high resolution versions of the book:

- The word artificial originally meant "artful, crafty." That's an apt description of ARTIFICIAL IMAGINATION, which blends art, craft, and wit into a narrative that teaches us life lessons that we did not knew we knew.

- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2K9BD305H2ISE Very entertaining and engaging. Author is able to take a relatively mundane topic and make it interesting. Excellent for busy professionals looking for light reading since you can read it a chapter at a time and not lose the thread.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3HI11PJUYIZVJ Kalpanik's writing is down to earth, funny, witty and smart. He chronicles his journey of self-discovery with an amazing detail and humor. His coverage of the various places he has been to--UC Davis, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle and Nashville-- was informative and enjoyable, and so were his jokes around them. I recommend this book to anyone looking for light reading, specially busy professionals who do not have time to read a whole book in one straight session but want to read one entertaining a chapter at a time.

1 comments about The Lobster Kids' Guide to Exploring Seattle.
- This is the book I was looking for. Knowing Seattle like the back of my hand I still needed inspiration for playing tourist with my kids in Seattle. And who better to write a guide to Seattle with children than two women who wrote for the top Seattle family magazines. This book will not only give you ideas on what to do, it will tell you what to expect to spend, how long you should plan to be there, what else is in the neighborhood, helpful hints to make the outing more enjoyable, and just about anything else you'd need to know about doing it. I now not only have a full week of adventures planned for this summer but ideas of other things to do for a long time to come. Yeah!
