1. After visiting Spain this spring, I read this book. It is a wonderful representation of the country and its people. The pictures are outstanding. Anyone considering a trip to Spain or just wants to remember the country should read this book. It took me right back to Spain!!

1. Poor quality photographs of inexpressive gardens and palaces. We expected to find the lovely small houses and gardens of the portuguese villages and countryside.



2. I don't know why the earlier reviewer had such a problem with this book. The blurb describes it accurately as reviewing estates and their gardens. There's nothing wrong with the photography and some of the architecture is quite noteworthy. The book didn't change my life or anything, but I'm giving it four stars to balance its rating a little.

1. We just returned from Barcelona and used several tour books. This was not the best, but it was useful and I would use it again.
   
   This little book starts with an 8-page introduction tot he city, which was interesting, and continues with short sections devoted to attractions organized by type (parks, churches, etc) where each listing contains metro, hours and price information.
   
   We used several of the little walking tours in the book and they were good, but in general the book was not organized enough to be truly handy. It did have more detailed sections on shopping and sports than other guides, however, if that is of interest to you. Covers include fold-out maps which list main streets.

1. Although written in a simple style, it's not a "Dummy's Guide to Andalucia". By the same token, although it's incredibly well-researched and intelligently written, it's not some inaccessible high-brow lost-me-on-the-first-page essay.
   
   I grew up in Andalucia, and this book captures the rich history and charm of Spain's southernmost region. Anyone who has spent a substantial amount of time in Andalucia should own a copy of this book!
   
   Travel writing at its best!



2. While it might be more in deepth than the causal reader might want, this book provides a detailed and informative look at Andalucia. As a high school student studying Spanish with a largely Romantic obsession with Andalucia, I found this book most informative, both in terms of grounding my 19th century images of gypsys and bullfights (although never crushing them entirely) in reality and providing an informative look at the culture, traditions, etc. of the region.
