1 comments about Buying a House in Spain, 3rd (Buying a House - Vacation Work Pub).
- There is a large useful section covering the whole of Spain and where to buy, though as usual the Murcia region gets only a little coverage. I like the case studies at the end of chapters, always useful to hear what other people are doing. Layout is good with the insider tips, and breakout boxes, making it easier to skim and find stuff afterwards. Whilst the book seems to be sponsored by an "interested" party I don't think it distracts from the value of the content. A useful book to get you started.

5 comments about Provence & The Cote D'azur (Eyewitness Travel Guides).
- This book has it all...colorful photos, lots of interesting & historical background...a very good book if you're planning a visit to this region. Highly recommended.
- The book was invaluable in assisting us determine what city to home port in during our one-week visit to Provence -- Avignon. But once there we discovered the book lacked sufficient specific detail about the nearby vilages and town we wanted to visit. We suspected as much beforehand and purchased other travel guides to the region and between all of them, developed a decent undertsanding of the sites and places to visit. Don't forget to purchase the Michelin map titled "Provence, Cote d'Azur" (No. 582 Regional).
- We've been very pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail on the cities and the beautiful pictures in this book on Provence. The book contains historic and cultural information as well as information on hotels, restaurants, and shopping.
We hope to visit some vineyards in the area and there is an itineray included, however, it doesn't give the "specific" locations - but maybe that isn't possible.
Although we usually don't travel with guidebooks, we are definitely planning on taking this one along with us!
- Visually appealing- lots and lots of photos, illustrations and diagrams. This is a book that will inspire you to see more than you might otherwise. Small and convenient in size, and coverage is very complete
- Very pretty photos which give you a good idea of Provence but instead of so many photos I wish there were more listings of hotels and restaurants. I found the information a little too spare and bought a different guide book instead.

2 comments about Via De La Plata: The Way of St. James from Seville to Santiago (Cicerone Guide).
- Great background book on the Via de la plata, but the real litmus test for me will come after my husband walks the Via during April 2007 and verifies what is current and what is out of date.
- Very pratical and useful book. Covers for walking and biking. I will sure use in my trip next year.

1 comments about Karen Brown's Spain, 2007: Exceptional Places to Stay & Itineraries (Karen Brown's Spain Charming Inns & Itineraries).
- Good review of places to stay but not too heavy on things to do or what to see. Then again I haven't been to Spain yet so this could be the best book ever.

5 comments about SASS Spain or Shine (S.A.S.S.).
- I am an adult reader and had only intended on reading a few pages into this book before giving it to some of my younger family members as a gift. However, Elena's character is so engaging that I could not put the book down until I finished it. This is a great book for young women. I strongly recommend it.
- Overshadowed by her other siblings, Elena feels like she never stands out. So she takes a once in a lifetime opportunity to study for a semester in San Sebastian, Spain. In Spain, she quickly becomes friends with outgoing Jenna, which leads her to experience many new things in Spain, from visiting Tapas bars to relaxing on the beach everyday. But Elena also has her playwriting on her mind as she wants her play to be selected to be performed for the school. Adding to her stress is the cute boy Miguel she has her eyes on. But when Elena meets her namesake, her great aunt Elena, things seem to make sense and Elena learns that she shouldn't feel hidden by other people.
I thought that this book was cute. I love reading books that take place in other countries, so I loved the descriptions of San Sebastian and Madrid. I think that there was a good mix of everything in this book;romance, culture, and suspense. I was a bit disappointed in the ending. But overall, I enjoyed reading this book. As this is only one of the books in the Students Across the Seven Seas series, I look forward to reading the others soon.

Preteen, teen, and young adult book reviews and recommendations
- it was a good story, not written that well. but i recomend it.
- I really liked this book because it shows other girls like me that being shy doesn't mean that you are not creative or fun or strong. Elena is all of those things. I really liked reading about traveling abroad because I hope to go too someday. Maybe I'll go to Spain.

1 comments about The Pepper Wreck: A Portuguese Indiaman At The Mouth Of The Tagus River (Ed Rachal Foundation Nautical Archaeology Series).
- I had to use this book for my senior honors thesis. It is wonderfully written and intriguing. The book examines the difficulties entering the mouth of the Tagus river in the early 17th century. Through archealogical research Castro enables his audience to understand the makeup of the rivers mouth. The Pepper Wreck is just one example of many disasters at sea. If you are interested in early modern european maritime trade, this book is good. I would also suggest, providing you have both the time and patience, reading The Tragic History of the Sea ed. by C.R> Boxer. It's a collection of primary sources relating several ship wrecks along the Portuguese shipping route to Goa.
