  1. it's made of solid... paperboard? plastic? carfboard? well whatever it is, it's good quality. it's got a lot of detail. very useful.

  2. This fold out laminated map is very good for seeing the major cities through New Jersey. It is compact but it's not exactly pocket sized.

  1. This is a great map of the city, easy to carry around. It's plastic, a big plus when it starts raining or if you spill anything on it. My only complain is that it does not include a Subway Map. It has Subway Routes in the map but with all the streets, etc it get a little difficult to make out.
Overall, great map. A must have for tourist or anyone new to the city.

  2. I purchased this map to use on a short trip to NYC. Although it is laminated and folds up to pocket size, there were better maps in the guide books I purchased. On the trip, I didn't use it very much.

  3. Never having been to New York, this map was a really big help in navigating the City. It even helped before I left home by letting me see where my hotel was in relation to the places I wanted to see and how I would travel to see them.

  4. HAVE NOT ACTUALLY USED IT YET BUT KNOWING NEW YORK CITY A LITTLE THIS PRODUCT SEEMS LIKE IT WILL BE GREAT!!

  5. Handy map to have with you as you travel the streets and subways of Manhattan.

  1. Dan Sholly does a great job of conveying his position as Chief Ranger of Yellowstone National Park and the responsibilities of managing park rangers, visitors, and even wildlife. Sholly is a wonderful asset to the park. Having had the opportunity to work with him for a short time while working on an article, I was given the wonderful chance to meet and discuss Yellowstone issues with him directly. Sholly has answered letters from my nephew regarding park issues and is open and honest. His book reflects the persona in good detail. A must have if you love Yellowstone.

  2. This book is absolutely fantastic! Nearing his final years with the National Parks Service, (NPS) Dan Sholly stepped down from the highest ranger position in the NPS, Director of Ranger Activities in the Washington D.C. office, to take his dream job as the Chief Park Ranger at Yellowstone National Park. Sholly was "Chief" for the Yellowstone fires of 1988 and the re-introduction of the wolf to Yellowstone, and shares these and other experiences vividly. You find out about both the exhilaration and frustrations of living, literally, in the middle of nowhere in the winter; the awesome grandeur of our first national park from the saddle of a horse on backcountry patrol; and the challenges of dealing with totally clueless park visitors who are willing risk their lives for a better photograph, or to see if that boiling mud pot is really that hot. (And each year, some die trying.) I have re-read this book a number of times. If you love Yellowstone or if you ever wondered about the men and women in the grey shirts, green jeans and flat hats you meet in the parks, read this book!

  1. Marie Morris...I'd love to meet you. My husband and I LOVED this book. I found it to be better than most of the travelogue books because it was written with a personal, been-there-done-that attitude.

  2. Don't let the title turn you off. This guide is complete. Read it, study it and be proud to carry it with you. It is just the best, full of honest reviews and recommendations. All of the info is current and up to date.

  1. I bought this book based on this quote in the Preface: "Wise men and women say that the greatest spiritual challenge facing "civilizd" human beings today is to regain knowledge that has been lost -- knowledge of our oneness with each other and nature -- and to return to lifestyles that reflect this oneness." In my thinking: therein lies the answer for personal peace and happiness and the hope for peace in our world. The author -- who is an acknowledged authority on different cultures -- explores through the venerable Hopi people of North America their cultural code words that anchor them to the spritual side of their nature and also the world at large. He masterfully weaves the information to provide a "prescription" that we can utilize to learn to align our lifestyles and be in accord with our own nature. In so doing, we can learn to live as close to spiritual bliss as our inner selves will allow.

  1. Incredible photos from North Carolina, Virginia, and other East Coast venues. The stories that accompany the pictures are an extra treat. Any fisherman would love to receive this as a gift.

  2. This book has some of the best photography that I have ever seen. I ordered it because it has a very special place in my heart. My father is in it,in the Margaree River chapter. Your description of him just warmed my heart and the photo did too. He is Willie Joe Chiasson and I am his daughter Ethel Clark (formerly Chiasson). I now live in California. I was so pleased and proud to see this and I cannot tell you how happy you made me as well as him. I would also like to send my regards and appreciation to whoever else was involved in putting it together, such as Mike Crockett. Do the three dogs in the book belong to Mike? They look like the are having the time of their life travelling around and playing in the rivers all over the country. I would love to hear from you please.

  3. I WAS NEVER REALLY FOND FLYFISHING UNTIL I ORDER FLYWATER AND WATERMARK...I NOW AM MORE CURIOUS ABOUT IT. THE PHOTOGRAHY WAS ABSOUTLY PHENOMENAL!!! I'VE NEVER SEEN SUCH INCREDABLY SCENERY BEFORE. WANT TO THANK MIKE AND GRANT FOR GIVING ME THAT OPPORTUNITY!!!!! LOVE FROM ST.JOHN USVI

  4. Of course I would like to review this addition, but since there is a limited supply here in the salt water environs of the Virgin Islands, it has been extremely difficult to find a copy. Therefore, please don't hesitate to send us one for our perusal and subsequent comment. Hope all remains well for you and Paula. Mollie and John

  5. If only a book like this was done for each salmonid species. Great photograhy, very interesting text. This is still the only stunning volume on salmon fly fishing as seen through the eyes of a master photographer. Bravo!!!!!
