1. For those of you with the 2005 Second Digital non-laminated Edition, this is the same thing, only with a different cover, and each page is laminated. If you have the 2005 edition, don't waste your time getting this thing. I don't believe it's Amazon's fault. Hagstrom clearly is an unscrupulous merchant.

2. I went to greenwich village last month and I spent a week in the village. I picked up this book to guide my adventures and I was so glad that I did.



3. This is a terrific book, informative and there is a fantastic section which includes Robert Heide's personal memories from his days in the Village and with Andy Warhol. I live in the Village and after reading it my own vista has been enlarged. I strongly recommend it to everyone!



4. I bought this book because my Great Uncle "Ian Orlando Macbeth" was mentioned and a picture of him was inside. He was a Greenwich Village Artist who painted murals throughout the Village's restaurants and was in private art exhibits. He also painted many of the blacklight posters we all knew and loved in the 1960's and 70's.
   
   The book shows lots of photos and stories of the characters who strolled the streets and made Greenwich Village what we all know and love of the place. Good read.

1. With Disney changing the face of Midtown Manhattan, "Stepping Out" is a wonderful look back at a rich and compelling history of New York City. Mr. Hurewitz's observations will appeal to any lover of New York - straight or gay. His witty prose, unique sense of humor, and detailed maps and photographs will force you to don a pair of comfortable shoes, "grab a cheese sandwich" and take to the streets. If only all travel books could be this good.



2. I'm not even through the first tour of Stepping Out, and I'm already addicted. From page one, I was hooked. Daniel writes with a humor and an appreciation for Gay History that we can all appreciate and love. The information is detailed, without being boring or stuffy. The descriptions make you feel like you're there, even if you're just loungeing in bed scanning through it. From the riots at Stonewall Inn, to strolling down Christopher Street, it's like you're there. He includes the details that matter, such as witty quotes out of some of our favorite, and even a few unknown, GLBT historical figures. I can't wait to go to New York and actually visit the places he speaks about! This is a must for anyone who is interested in GLBT history and culture.

1. Head and shoulders above your average guide book. I used it in my last visit to nyc and found it to have a lot of information that no other guidebooks have. It was hip, up-to-date and easy to read. It's also really funny.



2. I thought this would be an insiders guide;things not covered by usual guide books,undiscovered gems,restaurants etc.It wasn't.This is just a poorly laid out, same old same old, guide book,don't waste your money.



3. Listed amongst hotels to stay at Four Seasons or Waldorf Astoria. Then of course, there is the NY YMCA - hardly irreverent. Well they do list the Chelsea Hotel - but how 60s is that! Restaurants, well there's Nobu and Next Door Nobu, The Pink Teacup, a group of Italian Restaurants all owned by Mario Batali - Po, Babbo and Lupa and I quote from the book "the only thing more remarkable than the cuisine and impeccable service is how hard it is to get a reservation"!
   
   I then wanted to take a trip around Harlem. If you research on the internet there are a couple of very cool and different tours, but in this book - Harlem Spirituals or Harlem Your Way...are the suggestions - what could be more reverent!
   
   Take shopping.... well Macy,s, Tiffany's, H and M, Bloomingdales and Saks get good reviews and of course there is the 'Low Down for Style wise guys' - sheesh! and for kids (To Buy your Kids Love...)FAO schwarz, Toys R Us, the Disney Store and the Scholastic Store are the only ones mentioned. I know a store were you can buid a doll from scratch, or a bear, and take your home made baby home for a few dollars!
   
   Now, I can tell you some great hotels to stay in in town at a reasonable price and just brimming with help and comfort. I can suggest some great clubs for nightlife, fabulous restaurants at out of city prices and tours to blow your mind and I found them all on the internet. This book is a complete and utter waste of money, not to mention a great big phoney!
