1. My copy of the previous edition of this book is dog-eared and worn because I use it so much as a guide, reference and and entertainment. Levine knows New York, food, and people. He knows his stuff but he's not snooty about it. He's as much at home writing about Gray's Papaya hot dogs as he is about the finest wines



2. Ed Levine is the host of a funny and very informative local New York restaurant and food review show called "New York Eats". I have repeatly sent in emails hoping to get a free copy of his book but to no avail. Alas I recently bought this book and it has helped me on many occasions. From finding the best pizza in NYC to the best take out fois gras. A indispensable gift for someone living in New York City and surrounding areas and even better for someone about to visit and they want to know where to get the best food in the best city on earth.

The book gives a concise and informative history of each theater that has or will exist in New York City, whether it is on Broadway, Off Broadway or Off-Off Broadway. The book also has excellant seating plans for each of the theaters listed in the book. The author gives rare insight into the workings of New York theaters and the theater professionals who build or work in them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the theatre. The book is a real treasure.

1. This book is primarily a book of photographs of NYC. Many of the pictures are skyline pictures including the World Trade Center. They are most beautiful photos especially considering that the World Trade Center can no longer be photographed due to the tragedy of 9/11.

1. I bought this book so that I would have a resource for visiting friends. It has helped me plan numerous excursions as it lists the contact info and very often the hours and rates of most popular activities around town. The photography in this book is outstanding as well as the brief historical sections and the restaurant info.

   The only thing missing, in my opinion, is better information about where not to walk after dark and other pertinent details. For example, the author mentions that such and such street in the east village is so quaint and should not be missed, but I know that I would not want to be walking there after dark. The book is primarily a "pretty" guide, so if that's the type of guide you're looking for, then it's perfect.




2. This is an excellent book. It has everything anyone traveling to New York or even living in New York needs to know.

   This book contains maps of everything, including subways. It also takes you from the Villages to the Upper East and West Sides, from Lower Manhattan to Harlem and Central Park. I could never find a better book of New York if I tried.

   This is a must read for anyone traveling to New York, or just interested of learning about the Big Apple.




3. This book is great. I love the walking tours outlined. It gives you a map, tells you how far each tour would be, how long it should take you, and what to stop and see. This pictures and background info on various sites is great and the history is great. I also love the way it's broken down be neighborhood. Many wonderful maps.

1. The second book is a great book for the visitor to Cooperstown. Filled with information about Coopertown and the surrounding area. The business profiles are informative and well researched. The recipes are great using NY state products. There are great graphics, wonderful quotes and facts.
