1. I recently walked round the Rockefeller Center to look at all the public art and this lovely little paperback was invaluable. Without it I doubt you will find the eighty or so works of art in the book that are on walls everywhere even though the majority are on exteriors. Items like Lee Lawrie's Atlas statue or the stunning Wisdom wall-relief are well-known but how many visitors realise that when they walk across the lobby of Radio City they are treading on a carpet (replaced in 1999) designed by Ruth Reeves and full of musical instrument motifs or that the bronze statues above the entrance at 620 Fifth Avenue celebrate industries of the British Empire.
   
   The book is divided into fourteen building sections each with a color strip on the page edge that ties in with a color map on the contents page. Each spread features a color photo of the artwork and the opposite page has a very detailed description and technical listing. The last two sections include artist's biographies and an index. I would have liked to see an aerial photo or two of the Center to appreciate just how big the twenty-two acre site is.
   
   This book is a hands-on version of Ms Roussel's much more substantial art book on the Center (ISBN 0393060829). Both books celebrate a modern American structural icon and it is a credit to the current owners that they keep all the external artistic embellishments in excellent condition.
   
   *If you use the book to guide you round the buildings don't forget to have a look at the lovely grillwork set into the sidewalk to protect the trees.



2. The title says it all: a detailed account of the history and theme of every scupture, mural, and painting in New York's Rockefeller Center. Casual visitors may find much more detail than they want or need, but anyone who works in the area or is intrigued by the art will enjoy the concise yet engaging commentary. A must-buy for professional guides.
   
   The book is printed on high-quality stock and lavishly illustrated in full color.

1. This comprehensive book is a must for anyone exploring the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks. I use it as my bible to plan every trip I take to the area. The topo map alone is almost worth the price (although it can be purchased separately).

   The editor, Tony Goodwin, is born into a family of hikers, and is very involved with the DEC and ADK mountain club. He's a valuable source of information not only on the trail conditions, but on the future plans! I had a privilege of working on a trail construction project to build a new route that he spearheaded.

   There are only two things I would like to see in future editions:

   1) A more thorough listing of the locations of designated campsites (aside from those surrounding lean-tos)

   2) Time/ distance/ elevation estimates for the unmarked/unmaintained trails of the 46 High Peaks.

   For the unmaintained trails, Barbara McMartin's Discover the Adirondack High Peaks is more thorough.

1. This book offers a fascinating glimpse of the private world of many New Yorkers. The photography of the various homes and lifestyles, is exquisitely detailed. The anonymity of the streets of the Big Apple is juxtaposed with views of these personal, creative interiors.

1. This guide to eating well on the cheap in NYC proves that it really can be done. The editor's introduction kicks off the tone of this guide with his literate, articulate, and very witty comments, which also appears in all the reviews. This book is a gem, well worth having for any visit to NYC.



2. This is a very informative guide to eating in NYC. I will keep a copy of this guide book with me when I visit NYC. My Midwest Mentality tells me to go to where the locals go. I am sure they know where to eat in NYC.

1. When I plan on traveling somewhere I haven't been, or somewhere I'm returning to, I am always sure to have the newest version on Frommer's handy. Actually, even the older versions are still a good resource for information, too. I cannot say a bad thing about this guidebook.



2. The most helpful part of the book were the maps and the restaurant information. I was really looking for a Rick Steves type of guidebook for New York. This was not it!



3. If this is your first or your tenth time visiting NY, you'll definitely enjoy this excellent guidebook. An incredible source of information complete and up-to-date. The map is a plus and...it's a very good map too! This is a guidebook with an attitude. A guide written by a new yorker hence not too fond of the sometimes typical tourists attractions. But even so he manage to give full details on every little thing, like it or not. And Amazon was superb once again and I got my guidebook at the speed of light!



4. I decided to try something else than Lonely Planet for a change and I am happy. It definitely lacks (more) photos which catch the eye in LP! Other than that I have no complaints. I've found some great tips on what to do in NYC and what to skip. The info in the book is in my opinion the same as in the LP editions, you only need to get adjusted to a different layout (info on, say, entrance fees is usually at the end of an entry and not at the begining as in LP).



5. I am very pleased with the book and prompt service. I would be happy to recommend the seller to any other customer.
