2 comments about Ghostly Gotham: New York City's Haunted History.
- I love Ghost stories and such in general. I found the book very interesting on places who knew they were ever haunted. The layout i like by neighborhood. I gave it four stars because I put the book down wanting more...
- I enjoy reading haunted books about places I am going to visit. I decided to purchase this book because it had gotten decent reviews on this website. However, I was very disappointed. I personally like a little more story and a little more on what happens during the hauntings. This book gives you one or two page descriptions on the place and who haunts it. I could find this information out by talking to someone who works there. If you are interested in a good book that is filled with good stories that might send chills up your spine, forget this book. If you are looking for a 2 second read about a place that might be haunted this is the book for you.

1 comments about Short Nature Walks on Long Island, 7th (Short Nature Walks Series).
- Not only was the information detailed, but the additional drawings of the paths and the excursion suggestions were exactly what I'd hoped for, maybe even better. I cannot wait to have this book with me the next time I am in New York City, too. I wasted too much time last time trying to figure the things out this author managed to map out for me in this very well done guidebook.

3 comments about Panoramic New York.
- Contains fantastic photos. A little to 'Photoshopped' for my taste but great. The only problem I had with the book is that it contains no actual panoramic images. Many are wide angle but nothing that fits the definiton of panoramic.
- I bought it as a pictorial souvenir of my first trip to the great city in 2000. The photography is stunning and the pictures travel the length of Manhatten as you progress through the book.
Now the book is a testament to everything that is and was great about the city, so much has changed since september 2001. Somehow pictures breathtakingly capture the joy and sadness of humanity far more than words ever can.
I really treasure the book now.
- The pictures in this book are really beautiful. However, the spine of the book was not intact when I got it. The pages started to fall out after a week.

4 comments about Albany: Capital City on the Hudson.
- John McEneny gives a full coverage of the history of Albany, NY. Well researched; easy to read; some great maps included.
- The book has many beautiful pictures and may easily be dismissed as just another pictorial Chamber of Commerce celebration of a city's history, a "coffee-table book." But instead, it is a great and accurate account of a city built by Deutsch (Dutch & German) and Irish ethnics, written by a historian and public man of breadth and character, who is intimately familiar, through his family, with the history of the city of Albany to the mid-19th century. I am myself a historian of 19th century New York State, and found the book not only to be very informative, but enjoyable to read as well.
- This Book Tells About Albany's History. John McEneny Did A Great Job On This Book. It Has The College Of St. Rose In It. It Also Has Historic Areas Like Lark St. Albany's Village, The South End's South Preal St., State St., The New York State Capital And Education Building, The Empire State Plaza, N.Y.S. Museum, The Corning Tower, And It's Bus Company Known As C.D.T.A.
- Bravo, finally a superb book on the history of Albany and Albany County by the man who lives and breathes Albany, John(Jack) McEneny. Such insight and history into a city I grew up in. From the dutch settlements through the great Democratic political Machine, Jack captures the essence of what Albany was and is like to this day. Memorable photos take you back to a wonderful time gone by. It is truly our great city on the Hudson. I HIGHLY recomend to all.

1 comments about Champion Maps Plattsburgh, New York.
- I read this book in fourth grade, four years ago. It is a great read for anyone who is interested in Williamsburg or just wants a great adventure story that takes place a long time ago. Unfortunately, it's out of print, which means most people won't be able to read it unless they have a copy of it. But if you see it at your public library then I'd GO FOR IT!

4 comments about Manhattan Lightscape.
- After reading many architecture and photography books about NYC I knew this book was a keeper when I noticed it at a used book store in Boston. I have yet to find a more visceral or beautiful collection of photos about the great city. Likewise, the collection of prose is equally captivating and informative to read.
- I want to review the book about light
