5 comments about Finger Lakes Panoramas.
- The pictures are beautiful. Mr. Reynolds is a top knotch photographer. You can tell much time and effort was put into this book.
- As a previous resident of the Finger Lakes area, I can personally vouch for the beauty of the area. Mr. Reynolds has captured it as well as any human being can capture the glory of nature's beauty. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a taste for looking at beautiful places, beautifully photographed. Mr. Reynolds has presented an excellent talent with this beautiful book. I look forward to his next effort.
- I live in the Finger Lakes area (Elmira) and I have either driven, hiked, or bicycled around all the lakes and sailed across several. This is a wonderful piece of work and all scenes are easily recognized. A great compilation.
- This book reminds all of us who live in the Finger Lks, how beautiful this area is, and how lucky we are to live here. GREAT JOB KRIS!
- Reynolds uses a panoramic camera for the views in this book. Whether one cares for this sort of photo with itsunconventional proportions may be a matter of taste. The subjects represented are fairly conventional for this sort of picture book, and several similar volumes about the Finger Lakes are available. Little textual information is provided. On the other hand, Reynolds is a photographer of the first rank, with a good eye and technical command of the medium. The book is handsome. For this reader, it is less rewarding, however, than his subsequent "Wine Tour of the Finger Lakes," where the pictorial subjects are less predictable, while the informative text by Grady Wells makes the content more substantive. That one is a full five stars!

- My wife and I bought this book and our canoe in the same week.
Coincidence? I don't think so. This book overs families a great chance to get outside and share time together.
The rating system is outstanding and the directions are great.
This is the type of book that screams out for a second volumn I would gladly volunteer to be a guest contributor should the authors ever decide to do a second volumn.

2 comments about Field Guide to the Piedmont: The Natural Habitats of AmericaÕs Most Lived-in Region, From New York City to Montgomery, Alabama (Chapel Hill Books).
- Field Guide to the Piedmont is a magnificent, vividly described journey through the Piedmont, a unique ecosystem which stretches from the Hudson River Palisades to the Georgia plateau. The theme of succession dominates and illuminates the book, while Godfrey's literary descriptions of the landscapes reads like a Southern, landlocked Melville. I have used this book as my guide to understanding the ecology of where I live - a fundmental gift, and thank you, Michael Godfrey. I write about this at RaleighNaturalist.com. I highly recommend this book.
- I'm just about a third of the way though the book. It is very informative, but also enjoyable and accessible to one not very knowledgeable about the topic. Browsing though Amazon and the local bookstore a few times in years past, I have looked for broad-based books such as this to help me understand the area I live in. This book does that better than any I've come across.

1 comments about Amusement Parks of New York.
- This is a great resource for any lover of amusement parks, particularly their history. It has incredible detail - even listing the years individual attractions opened - and great historical photos to complement the text. The writing leaves something to be desired, and is a bit formulaic (he uses phrases like "on the rebound" and "(name of park) is one of the most (adjective) amusement parks around" a little too frequently), but the book is packed with so much information about the parks' current statuses and their histories that this can be easily overlooked.

1 comments about Along the Great South Bay: From Oakdale to Babylon, the Story of a Summer Spa, 1840-1940.
- Very informative! I recommend this book to anyone who grew up in the Islip area. The information regarding early Islip residents is fascinating. Read and learn what an interesting place your little town is! This is by far the most targeted history of the Islip resident.

4 comments about Liberty's Journey.
- Each time I read this book I get a warm feeling when I think of all the immigrants who love and depend on Lady Liberty every day. I am so glad she is "back" on her pedestal at the end of the book.
- Liberty's Journey is a moving adventure about the Statue coming to life and seeing all of the states and people she stands for. This book reminds me of the true patroitism, commitment, freedom, and generosity of our democratic America. We take it all for granted. Children can get a real glimpse of who and what our statue stands for through this beautiful story and the brilliant way it was written. The outstanding artwork shows the true Liberty, (all she needed was a personality that relates to the children as well as adults). I think that families, libraries, and schools alike would benefit by adding this work of art to their bookshelves. Liberty's Journey represents the heart of America!
- Newsbee, the voice of Book Buzz, an NIE project at The Washington Missourian, has chosen "Liberty's Journey" as a book pick for July. When Liberty takes a walk through bustling cities, into states with amber waves of grain, across vast deserts, she loves what she sees, but Liberty is sadly missed in New York Harbor, so it's back to work for the grand ol' girl who joyfully returns to the isle of Manhattan.
The wonders of America come to life on the pages of this wonderful picture book Book Buzz is proud to suggest.
- This book earns a place in our "Hall of Fame." It has been read for 3 years now and memorized time and again. It inspired my [...]to memorize the New Colossus. She was Lady Liberty for Halloween for two years now. The story was very well written in a flowing, poetic, and rhythmical context. It is a great introduction to our nation's beauties, people and spirit. It is also amusing. We have a ticker tape parade every time we read this book! Thank you, Ms. Dipucchio, for giving this treasure to the world.
