  1. Robert Frerck's book Eternal Mexico covered the vast country from the barren desert to the lush carribean. He has taken time out to get the perfect photograph. He did not bombard the book like other authors/photographers with pictures of the many ruins that mexico has to offer. Instead he included many photographs of the majestic side of the Mexican people and their culture. The true Mexico. His photographs of the famous places are not those sold on the counters of "tourist shops" and on postcards. Robert has managed to capture a different side to these famous places that many of the other books/ photographers have failed at. I have only one regret that the book was not larger with more photographs. It was good to sit down with and reminisce over my travels in Mexico.

2 comments about Mexico Map (Travel Reference Map).
  1. Just back from 6 fun-filled, if occasionally puzzling, weeks of driving in Mexico. Bought this map as our primary source. Mistake. On the plus side, it is well-made. But there are numerous drawbacks: road grid is out of date (map doesn't show many of the newer toll roads, for example); it is sometimes wrong (doesn't show Mex 200, the principal Pacific coast road, in its entirety, for example); it's very difficult to distinguish between free roads and toll roads because the color coding for the two is so similar; no identifying numbers are shown for many of the smaller roads; in one instance, a crucial town was left off the map --- crucial because the only clue we had about which fork we had taken was that the highway signage announced this uncharted town as the next destination: we had to drive 15 miles to that town before reaching the next set of signs which confirmed we were on the right route. ... In short, take this map for an overview of Mexico's road system if you like, but have other sources of info, too, or you will get lost. (We found the best thing was to hit the tourist info kiosk as soon as we crossed a state line for a gov't published map of that state's grid. We also found the small state maps in "Rough Guide to Mexico" and Church's "Camping in Mexico" helped.)

  2. it was exactly what i needed, and it was delivered quickly.
