- One of the best travel book series, with attention to detail, plus numerous color photographs and fine maps. Lots of instructions regarding practical travel matters. (Travel Books Review)
- If these delectable guides' plentiful pix don't get you drooling to explore, you need to get your salivary glands checked. The text is also noteworthy. (NY Daily News)

2 comments about Italy, 5th (Country & Regional Guides - Cadogan).
- Although this book is a good basic overview of travel in Italy, it is written in an unnecessarily pedantic style. I found other travel guides on Italy to be much more reader-friendly and useful.
- The great asset of the Cadogan series is the in-depth historical and cultural context that the authors set their desciptions in. While all of the usual nuts-and-bolts information on hotels, restaurants, nighlife, etc. is there, the emphasis is on really getting to know and appreciate the cultures you are travelling through, rather than just being able to name the Top 5 sights in each city and take home postcard shots of each. If you read this book, you'll come away with a whole new appreciation for the country and its people, and you'll understand why you've decided to travel there in the first place.

2 comments about Live & Work in Italy (Living & Working Abroad Guides).
- This book is a detailed survey of the opportunities for employment and living in Italy - it covers such mundane, but essential subjects such as residence and entry regulations, property purchase and rental, tax evasion and other national pastimes, as well as how to find a job or start a business. It lets you know in confident style how, where and why to go for the Italian experience.
Unlike Travis Neighbour and Monica Larner's popular "Living, Studying and Working in Italy", this guide doesn't assume that every reader has the lifestyle and experience of the average impoverished student. Want to know how and where to get the best mortgages and loans, or understand the finer points of etiquette, language and culture? It's all here - buy it, become an expert, and above all enjoy!
- This book was of very little use to me. I purchased it right after reading Travis Neighbor and Monica Larner's Living, Working, and Studying in Italy, and it was such a disappointment. It was in an awkward-to-use format, almost like some sort of government fact book. It compared aspects of life blow-by-blow to those in the UK and seemed to offer very little information that would be of use to an American relocating to Italy. If you're from the UK, it may be just what you need, but otherwise I'd steer clear.
One other thing: I noticed it's part of a very large series, which may tell you something about the impersonality of it - even more so that this author has written quite a few in the series.

- Without fanfare, this book has been more than helpful. From spendthrift to affluence ...it lets me call the shots. Insightful reviews guide my trip of a lifetime ...and I need help. The logistical insights of important connection to the ancient while nurturing tourism avoidance within all possible bounds has been accomplished.
- This mini guide was an EXCELLENT companion on our recent Rome excursion. The top 25 sites section was particularly useful in determining what to see during our stay. Each of the 25 sites noted in the guide included a train/bus number reference and that was most helpful. Many travel guides do not include such info. You'll never miss with the Citypacks!
