2 comments about Rome For Dummies (Dummies Travel).
- I never received this book. When I did inquire about it(over 30 days later)they told me that it was to be shipped out shortly. I never got the book or the money back. Will never do business with them again.
- I checked out several books from my local library before deciding on a book to purchase to use as the travel guide for my upcoming trip to Rome. I read each major travel guide and compared all the books for structure and usability. I preferred Rome for Dummies because it has the same User Friendly set-up of all the "Dummies" books. Tips on local customs, what to see and do in a limited amount of time, how to attend a papal audience, etc. are the kind of tips that made me feel like I was talking to a local Roman instead of reading a book. Did you know that it costs more to sit and have a cup of coffee than to stand and have coffee? Neither did I, but I do now. Unlike other "cumbersome" travel guides, this book fits my description of "if I were going to write the perfect travel guide to fit all my personal wants and needs, this is how I'd do it."

2 comments about The Independent Walker's Guide to Italy: 35 Breathtaking Walks in Italy's Captivating Landscape (The Independent Walker Series).
- We spent 2 weeks in Italy and did 6 walks. We would love to do more. This was a very easy guide to follow and you could make this the only book you need. Can't wait to try another one soon.
- We spent 6 days in Italy, and ended up only doing 2 of the walks (plus visited the site of a 3rd), but found this book a great resource for getting away from the crowds, without being in the back of beyond. It provided ideas for some truly unique places to go that weren't on the usual "tourist's map" of Italy. Also, one of the hotel recommendations in the beginning (there aren't many -- the book is not at all a comprehensive guide) was a great find. We did find at least one discrepancy in a trail marking (at the end of the Florence walk), so be alert and flexible!

3 comments about Sicily: A Complete Guide to the Island, Its Towns, Monuments, and Incomparable Landscapes (Heritage Guides).
- This guide is extremely helpful in planning a trip to Sicily. It is also an excellent source of information for anyone interested in the beautiful island and its culture.
Many already popular attractions are covered as well as some lesser known ones. For a traveler seeking to get off the "beaten path" this guide will offer some good ideas on where to find less popular, but equally beautiful, areas of the island. The extensive history of the island and its towns will appeal to history buffs and make the trip much more interesting. This guide is a wonderful addition to any Sicily lover's library. Through its fascinating text and pictures, a new appreciation for this culturally rich island will be formed.
- I like the format and content of this guide. It seems to cover the most important sites and details of many Sicilian towns and cities that I will visit in Feb '06. I look forward to taking it with me and trying it out!
- I didn't really use this book very much -- It was accurate, but very dry and the book only describes locations by their Italian names without reference to how it is pronounced in English which made it difficult to use.
