1. This book gave a great overview and some routes through Ireland via bicycle. As I still have not totally planned my trip, I cannot tell how the recommendations are, but Lonely Planet guides are usually been excellent, in my experience. I wish it had more information on choosing between a guided and a DIY tour, as I am now trying to decide whether to do all the work in carrying luggage, making reservations and finding bikes B&Bs myself, or spending a little extra. It has good information about bicycles and the gear to bring along as well.



2. I bought this for my sister who reports to me this guide is excellent.
   Very informative, well laid out and a great guide.



3. Last summer my brother and I went to Ireland. Using this as our only guide we were able to easily get around. The maps were good, the adivce was great, and I'm planning on going back next summer with the same book(unless they release a new edition).

1. I ordered the book because of the author. I have long enjoyed his singing, and admired his song writing ability, so expected to enjoy the book. I was not disappointed. Makem gives us a tour around his favorite spots in Ireland, taking us to less familiar places. The travelogue is interspersed with anecdotes about his own experiences in these places. The book is well-written, enjoyable reading. Anticipating a trip to Ireland in the near future, I have just ordered my fourth copy of the book.

1. I am a Geldof fan, however, I didn't let this prejudice my review of this amazing book. From the beginning I felt like I could not put the book down! It has amazing pictures and the many stories of tribesmen was uniquely written.
   
   I think if you know anything about Africa and its people - or do not know a thing - you will find this book amusing, sad, and unique in its story of a continent that has abundant physical beauty and, sadly, also has tragedy as part of its history. Very interesting view of modern Africa and some of its people, told by a incredibly interesting individual who has does more for powerty in the past 20 years than some countries have done to date.
   
   Well worth reading!
