1 comments about Berlin Street Art.
- Only a smaller book, but a good selection of documented material and examples of the street art scene in Berlin-one of the noticeably more bombed cities in Germany. I really enjoyed repeatedly browsing thru the book, and recommend it to all with an interest in wheat-pasting and stencil work, aswell as other graffiti appreciators.

1 comments about WALK Berlin (Photo Travel Guides).
- This is a great book for getting a taste of what it is like to WALK around Berlin. Sights from all over the city's best neighborhoods. Many photos are in the book as a result of a contest for Berlin photos on Flickr - and as a result the book has more than one perspective. It is a great book for those who have toured Berlin, or are planning to visit in the future.

1 comments about Frommer's Portable Frankfurt.
- Frankfurt probably doesn't rank very high on the must see lists of the many people who vacation in Germany every year, and that's a shame, because this great city is definitely worth a couple of days. Many people however, visit Frankfurt on business each year, because the city has an incredible trade fair facility: the Messe. The Frankfurt Book Fair, founded in the late 1400s, is the world's largest and most important book fair and it is held at the Messe every year. For those visiting Frankfurt, on business or for pleasure, the Frommer's Portable Frankfurt is a really handy book to pack along. It's a small, slender volume, so it won't take up much space in your luggage; but it is packed with valuable info on the city that will help you maximize your touring time and get the most for your money in Frankfurt's restaurants. In addition, there is a small section devoted to nearby towns for day trippers that I found particularly useful when I decided to go see the castle in Aschafensburg. Pick up a copy, it will add to your visiting pleasure!

2 comments about Germany by Bike: 20 Tours Geared for Discovery (By Bike).
- Definitely the best cycling guide book there is about Germany. I grew up in this country and thought I knew it well - yet Nadine Slavinski's book reveals a treasure of little known secrets. Her tours provide a brilliant mixture of Germany's best in terms of bicycle touring and you can tell that she has spent quite some time working and researching in the 'Old World'
- My wife and I lived in Germany for 2 1/2 years and used that time as an opportunity to get into bicycling. One of the first books we bought was "Germany by Bike"...a smart move on our part. Of the 20 tours listed in the book we took 3 of them and can say we were most pleased with those. The directions are simple and easy to follow and the trails are wonderful. If you're looking for a great guide to explore Germany by bike then look no further.

1 comments about In Europe's Name: Germany and the Divided Continent.
- Timothy Garton Ash has mastered the art of telling a story in an involving and interesting way, yet without sacrificing scholarly exactitude or resorting to simplification. In this, his most scholarly work, Garton Ash takes a hard look at Germany's political history in the centre of Europe, focusing on the theme of 'Ostpolitik' -- West Germany's policy of how to deal with the East: East Germany, Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union. He presents two sides for every position, yet his own thinking permeates the book.
Because of its scholarly nature, this book is less accessible to the general audience than Garton Ash's other books, but for those interested in Germany's role in Europe's past, present and future, this book is an absolute must.

1 comments about Bavaria (Lonely Planet).
- I just got back from a trip with my mother and sister. We went to Munich, Fuessen, Wuerzburg, Rothenburg, and Triberg. We had 4-5 different travel books with us, and this one certainly won as the most comprehensive and easy-to-read.

2 comments about The Rhine.
- In June of 2000 I cycled 750 miles in Germany along the rivers Mainz, Rhein (Bingen to Koblenz), Mosel and Saar.
In preperation for a cycling trip along the length of the Rhein I purchased this book for use as a resource to guide me through my journey. While I thought this would be a great travel tool I had no idea how much insight it would provide in the way of history, culture, art and the sights the towns and villages along the river had to offer. While the Library Journal review expresses all of this, words alone can not describe what this book has to offer.
- The Rhine
This book is well worth the cost. It gives great current information, detail and pictures of various Rhine River destinations with their history. The only downside is this book is heavy. I think you would call this book a "Coffee Table Book". Buy it anyway, you won't be disappointed.
