  1. This book made me want to go on a freighter voyage. Lots of good information. Everyone I have shared the book with loved it.

  2. If Frances Flynn were on board, it would be worth twice the price for a trip on any freighter. Open and honest, funny and sad, always open to the moment, she shows us how to make the most of being alive. Her book is worth whatever you have to pay to get hold of a copy.

  3. If you're planning a freighter cruise, absolutely don't leave without reading this book. Frances candidly writes about the highs and lows of her voyages and I feel much more prepared for my first one.

  1. The contemporary layout of this book fails to disguise its unimaginative contents.A notable example of this is can be found in the "After dark" chapter which is limited to notes on the Moulin Rouge and karaoke bars (Jazz joints are mentioned elsewhere in the book but, with no names or addresses, the reader is left in the dark). For an overview of the city the book is useful but a visitor will find Lonely Planet's Paris Condensed is cheaper, is easier to carry and has more useful maps and information.

  2. This book is a great guide to get you to the "must-see" places that you don't want to miss if you can only make a short stay. There are color photos of everything, and very clear directions on how to get there. There are also good maps of the subway routes, the city, and the tourist sites. Very easy to use format, and it doesn't miss any of my favorite places.

  1. This mystery is Sue Grafton with more plot and a faster pace, which I consider a very big compliment. The premise is clever. There are lots of twists. It was great fun to hang out with the main characters. Paris feels vivid and lived. For those who love great writing style, the prose in this book is at the top of my pantheon, with an elegant flow and clarity that few writers manage to achieve. "Trap" easily deserves the five star rating I gave it. As an ex-member of a volunteer fire department, the flashover fire descriptions were chilling and realistic.

  1. I received "Paris in 3D" for Christmas and what a wonderful surprise! This book is exciting before you even open the front cover. The front of the book has a beautiful lenticular of the Eiffel Tower. But the wonder does not stop there. Each page reveals beautiful 3-D images which can be viewed with the viewers enclosed in the book. The paper is high quality and the reproductions are gorgeous! As if this weren't enough, the book is engrossing and full of interesting information. I have been interested in 3-D photography for six years. This is the kind of book that I would be comfortable recommending to anyone who loves beautiful, well produced books, regardless of their knowledge or interest in 3-D photography. It is truly a collector's item that the whole family would enjoy viewing.
