1. We buy Mobil Travel Guide for the rated listings of restaurants and motels and resorts -- not just in the 'hotspots' but out of the way places as well. Lately, more and more of the rural listings have been dropped in favot of thinner books -- this thing is now irrelevant - Fix it!

   It could have been a great guide. However, the most obvious problem with this books was that it was printed seven or eight years ago. I was using this guide to locate used bookstores in the Washington DC area and only about half of the bookstores listed still exist today. Especially in today's era when so many stores have gone online, an update would have been welcome. Still with stores that currently exist, it is a useful guide for determining what kind of books a certain store sells, pricing, and recomendations.

1. If you want to send someone a feeling of Miami, send them this book! I've lived in Miami about a year and a half and was looking for a pictorial demonstration to send to a friend who has never been here. This book captures and draws you in to all aspects of the city: nature, architecture, culture, glamour, and grit. You can sense the vitality of the city.



2. Hi, I just LOVED this book. It shows Miami at its best! The photography is the best I have seen, with colors that seem to jump right off the pages & into your lap. The clarity of each & every picture seems like a photograph in itself. If you would like a book on Miami & its sites,......................THIS IS IT! Congrats to Alan S. Maltz. I was very, very impressed to say the least & it is one book that will always remain on my table (in the family room) for guests to admire & I love to watch their expressions as they ooooh & aaah after each turning page. I live in NYC but the book remains a hit here in the BIG APPLE! I am sure that it took many years of hard labor to bring this book about & I would highly reccomend it, & my compliments once again to some of the finest photography I have seen in any book yet. 1. The images in this book provide a seldom-seen commentary on aspects of life within a state know primarily for its tourism industry. Here, Alex Webb pulls back the curtain to reveal the other worlds that co-exist with most of the images tha come to mind when we hear the word "Florida." These photographs wildly exceed one's expectations for just how perfect a seemingly random moment can be, and Webb manages to do it with an eye for the abstract, the absurd, and while providing social commentary, humor and beauty.



2. in terms of color street photography, this is about as good as it gets. along with people like robert walker, costa manos, and anthony hernandez, webb helped create a new genre, perceptive and intuitive like cartier-bresson with the eyes of a colorist. webb has a few great books, this is my favorite.
   
   as publishing goes, i'd say this book is average, and an updated, expanded edition would be great.
