1 comments about 52 Great Florida Golf Getaways.
- 52 Great Florida Golf Getaways by Florida golfing expert Ed Schmidt Jr. is a handy, "user friendly" guide to some of Florida's most vibrant, well-run, and enjoyable golf courses. Yet the golf courses selected are particularly special in that each one of them has access to numerous other recreational opportunities nearby - boutiques, water parks, museums, kids' activities, sailing, tennis, fishing, and more - for the non-golfers in the family. Straightforward descriptions, contact information, and black-and-white photographs form the heart of this solid reference which is especially recommended for mixed golfer and non-golfer families in the Florida area. If you are golfer and taking a trip to Florida, begin your itinerary planning with a thorough browsing through Ed Schmidt's 52 Great Florida Golf Getaways!

5 comments about Tricky Business.
- As a parody it's not very funny, but it's too silly to be taken seriously as a crime novel. Parts of it may make you smile. It's a good book to pass the time in a waiting room, as long as you have a strong stomach!
- I found Barry an entertaining read, but didn't have the "bite" of a Hiassen or Dorsey.
- Dave Barry writes great novels! It is easy to visualize his characters and his witty writing stays with you. This book is a little darker than Big Trouble, but definitely worth reading. The beahvior of the newscasters will have you laughing out loud!
- Dave Barry's "Big Trouble" is one of the funniest novels I've ever read. Unfortunately, this is a review for Tricky Business. It's still kind of funny, but it's not as fresh and surprising as Big Trouble is. It's also a lot more "adult" -- a lot more sex and adult language/violence than Big Trouble. It feels like a little too much for a supposedly light, humourous romp.
The book also recycles more of Barry's humour column material -- like funny band names, etc.
It's an easy, light read, but if you can only read one Dave Barry novel, pick Big Trouble.
- I'm clearly in the minority on this one, but I actually thought Tricky Business was a little better than Big Trouble. Dave's fiction style has improved--he's not just trying to write a novel in the style of one of his humor columns this time. Consequently, the over-the-top silliness is toned down somewhat here, leaving a good crime thriller bordering on spoof.
The audio version is well-read by Dick Hill, although he doesn't seem to be as into it as he was reading some previous Barry books.

5 comments about Sanibel & Captiva: A Guide to the Islands.
- We had the best vacation EVER thanks to this book! Even when our flight was postponed, this book gave us a few options of activities in Fort Myers on the way to the airport. Who would have thought Sanibel/Captiva had so much to offer. The authors share ever bit of important info and more. Have Fun!
- Wow! This is a really great book. We're going to Sanibel Island for the first time and couldn't find any travel books that would give us the lowdown on where to go and what to do - until this book! It gives you a "must do" intinerary if you are planning on staying 3 days, 4 days, etc. It also includes tips for shelling: when to go, where to go and a comprehensive guide to help you identify what you find. I really enjoyed this book and it's now packed in my suitcase ready for the trip.
- I have been visiting sanibel for many years and still got a lot out of this book. It gave me ideas of new things to do while on the island, and the candid restaurant reviews were spot on. Great Book.
- This is by far one of the best travel books I have ever used. It kept us busy the whole time- beaches, nature preserves , shelling, accomodations, great great restaurants. everything!!!!! If you go to Sanibel/Captiva this is a must buy!!
- This is indeed a great guide book for Captiva and Sanibel Islands. We stayed on Captiva in a private house and used this book for dining and shopping recommendations. (Didn't need it for the recreation -- who needs anything more than beach, pool, shells, ocean??!) Weren't disappointed once! We referred to the shell guide more than once.
I usually devour multiple guide books before we go on a trip because it always enhances our vacations immeasurably. For Captiva, the typical (Fodors, Frommers) books were a little sterile. This one felt very local and authentic. I definitely recommend it for anyone lucky enough to visit these beautiful islands! Toast the sunset for me!

5 comments about The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World Resort: How to Get the Most Out of the Best Disney Has to Offer (Insiders Guide).
- I am so glad I purchased The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World. I used this book on our trip to Disney World December 2004. I was guided to order tickets ahead of time for the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade and the Candlelight Christmas Dinner Package. This helped us get to choose which day we wanted for each show and no worries about missing anything!! My family and I got to see Jim Caviezel and it was GREAT!! I highly recommend this book to any family going to Disney World. Patti from Alabama
- This book was basically the same as most of the other books on Disney. It is just compiled into one book. This book claims to tell you how to get the most out of your disney vacation and it doesn't do that. Actually the best information I have ever found on Disney and the most up-to-date information was found on All Ears Net dot Com. It has more information than you could find in any book and best of all is free.
- I purchased this guide to add to my collection of DIsney World travel books, and I was quite disappointed. From the book descriptions I was expecting a guide to all the luxurious activities and experiences available at the resort with great detail. This guide skims over most Disney attractions and does not provide any information that is not available via disney's website. I would like to see more details and even ballpark prices on some activities. Personal experience testimonies would also benefit the listings in this book.
- First, let me say that the book is well written and I love the gray boxes that pop up here and there with little tips for romance, etc.
The rest of this book is like a condensed version of any other Walt Disney World guide book out there. When she does mention the luxuries it is simply a list of her favorites which includes Universal Studios, Sea World and the Downtown Disney hotels.
I thought, (given the title) this book is about Walt Disney World.
I would really have liked to read more about the luxurious side of Disney World. In this book you will walk away knowing just as much about a counter service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom as you would about Victoria and Albert's. The website does not offer much more in the way of information either.
Very disappointed.
I highly recommend Walt Disney World and Orlando 2007 from Frommer's - worth every penny!
- like many others, i bought this book expecting to find the inside tips on luxurious activities at disney world. but this book just reads like a regular guide book. and as a regular guide book, i don't feel that it is as comprehensive or useful as sehlinger's unofficial guide. to make matters worse, the info in this book is several years out of date. sehlinger's books are updated every year.

2 comments about Five Thousand Years on the Loxahatchee: A Pictorial History of Jupiter-Tequesta, Florida.
- My husband and I both truly enjoyed reading of the history of the area and seeing the many beautiful photographs. This is an excellent book and extremely well done in quality of content and presentation. It far exceeded our expectations! We have lived in Jupiter for many years, but do not know the author personally.
- I have always been interested in the history of South Florida and the Treasure Coast area in Florida.
I had an opportunity to look upon this book that was also signed by the author James (Jim) Snyder. I know that I will be going out to buy this book not only for myself, but for friends and family that also live in this area. There was so much information including pictures of the past that impacts today South Florida. Having lived in this area since I was 10 (20 years), I see the change of this area in that amount of time. This book is priceless.

1 comments about Divers Almanac Guide to the Florida Keys (Diver's Almanac: Guide to Florida and the Keys).
- This a comprehensive look at Florida diving--the diving capital of the U.S. It's a bright personal style of writing, with lots of stories and humor--refreshingly different from a typical guide. However, the book may need updating of some of the practical data. Still it's a fine read with lots of good stories.
