5 comments about Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids, by Kids 2007 (Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids By Kids).
- If you are planning a trip to Disney World and have kids...this is the book to buy! We have had so much fun reading, planning and preparing for our trip to Disney World. My little girl has memorized every page of this book and can't wait to take it to Disney with us for Character Autographs, Hidden Mickey Hints and so much more! This book is great for kids and adults, too. Lots of pictures, tips on Disney, entertainment for all, very helpful for your little one to feel involved in the trip planning. Also see the other Birnbaum Books...they are all terrific and fun for everyone...don't forget to take the book with you when you go!
- My three grandchildren are going to Disney World in October this fall. I wanted to get something that was easy for them to read and understand. I can't wait until I can give them their own book. Their mom and I decided that we will take the suggestion in the book and wait until 10 days before we actually go. Their ages are 15, 10, and 7 and its the first time for them at Disney. This book has a lot of helpful hints and the more organized we are when we go the less time we will be wasting. 7 people altogether and thats a lot of people making decisions. I am writing an agenda so we don't miss a thing. Don't take everything the reviewers say as gospel. It's all a decision for each kid to make but this will help a lot. The cost is so much, we all want to make the most of a 7 day trip.
- When planning our annual trip to Disney I alway order one of these as there are great kids tips and fun things for the kids to look at and anticipation of the big trip. We are huge fans and go every year our daughter is already planning the next trip out she is only 3. This guide book is her favorite thing to look and and remember wonderful times.
- As a travel agency I have recommended Birnbaum's Walt Disney guide for years. As I was preparing to take my young daughter to Walt Disney World, I decided to purchase this guide. My daughter and I have read through it several times, anticipating our trip. There are some great suggestions for little ones in it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
- I purchased this book for my 9year old son before our 1st trip to Disney. He could easily read this book and it helped to build his confidence to see that other kids his age were doing the rides that seemed too scary to him. We brought it along for our vacation, and it helped prepare us for our next planned day. The book has many tips that you would never know without purchasing this book. This is definately a book I would recommend for kids. For adults... try the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, and plan on several months and a highlighter pen, to read it!

2 comments about Insiders' Guide to the Florida Keys and Key West, 9th (Insiders' Guide Series).
- My wife and I bought this book to help plan an upcoming trip to Key West. This book has answered just about every question we've had. It covers restaurants, places to stay, where to rent bikes or cars, beaches, snorkeling, where to park and not to park, and a hundred other topics. Nearly every business entry lists the phone number and web address.
My favorite things about this book: Unlike some destination guides that tend to focus on the upscale restaurants, this guide seems to list everything, including simple sandwich shops. Also, the reviews of the various businesses don't appear to be simple re-hashes of what is printed in their brochures. Only complaint: It appears that the reviews never seem to mention any negatives about the businesses... one guest house that we had tentatively selected to stay at, based on this book, had so many negative reviews online that we decided not to stay there. Still, for sheer quantity of useful information, it's hard to imagine a more comprehensive book. (If my overall opinion changes after actually going to Key West, I will update this review.)
- We just returned from a trip to the Keys staying in Islamorada. We did lots of Key hopping and lived from this book. Using it for restaurants, where to watch the sunsets, information on fishing, boat ramps, beaches, etc. The only thing the book didn't have that would have been helpful would have been information on pets - laws, pet friendly parks, beaches, etc. Excellent guide.

2 comments about Mobil Travel Guide 2000 Southeast: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee (Mobil Travel Guide Coastal Southeast (Ga, Nc, Sc)).
- I highly recommend this guide to anyone who will be traveling in the Northeast as well as Canada. This guide gives you everything from upcoming events for the year to where to stay & eat. The maps are easy to read and follow. I have been a reader of the Mobil Guide for many years and it is continuing to give the most accurate, up-to-date travel information. This is the MUST-HAVE for the Northeast traveler.
- The book gives a good overview of the areas with many addresses. Anyhow I found it a bit too black and white. It gives useful maps, but no coloured pictures from the areas, which would make it a bit more pleasant to read.

5 comments about The Cheapskate's Guide To Walt Disney (Cheapskate's Guide to Walt Disney World).
- This is a COMPLETE waste of money. I didn't learn anything from this book that wasn't common sense! It is VERY outdated and apparently is just for people who have been under a rock since WDW was erected. SAVE your money and do NOT buy this book! Buy the WDW Passporter.
- I was excited about buying the guide but learned that most of it was just information about the parks, i could read that in a tour book. Although the helpful website were informative but the rest of the book wasn't.
- The most valuable thing I learn is from another book: rent a multi-family vacation house with my friends, 16 people for $199 a day. We all enjoy the stay at a luxury emerald island resort. check this out: http://www.cyberrentals.com/index.cfm/property/126687
- While the first two chapters have some moderately useful information about saving money on a trip to WDW, the rest of the book is much like any of the other Disney World guidebooks available. The authors describe each ride or show, but don't necessarily tell how to save money.
Since some of the information is now outdated, if you are looking for a guidebook, you would be much better off getting one of the "unofficial" guides (The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007 (Unofficial Guides)) or the Passporter guide (PassPorter Walt Disney World 2007: The Unique Travel Guide, Planner, Organizer, Journal, and Keepsake! (Passporter Walt Disney World)).
For much better money saving tips, I would recommend Disney on a Dime: Money-Saving Secrets for Your Walt Disney World Vacation.
- For anyone deciding to buy this book or any other like this. I've been to Disney World many times and there are a few things that will save you money.
When you stay in a resort buy some drinks/soda/bottled water to take with you in your room. One drink inside the resort is like 3 dollars. Also the rooms don't have refrigerators (as far as the resort I've stayed at) Also, when you want to buy souvenirs don't buy at the Disney Parks or at the Disney gift shops in the resort. Go to a Wal Mart in Orlando or a Mall that has the Disney store. You get all the same stuff like T shirts, Toys, keepsakes, etc for half the price. Also eat a good breakfast before you go into the park because the food there is not very good and expensive. A few days of eating that food and you are going to want to have a good home cooked meal. Also buy snaks at a grocery store and keep with you at the hotel/resort so you don't keep on going to the food court at the resort. Everything there is overpriced. Instead of spending my money on snaks and drinks i spent it on the actual meal. The food isn't that expensive its the snacks and drinks that add up. Also make sure that they are not doing any repairs to your resort. I stayed at one resort that had the main pool closed because they were repairing it. The value resorts (music, movies, sports, pop culture) do not have very nice rooms. They are like any other room in a Holiday Inn except that they have Disney Comforters on the beds. Its a better value to go to the Mid price resorts like the Caribbean, Coronado Springs, or Port Orleans. You pay about $50 more a night but it is very well worth it over the value priced
rooms that cost 100-150 a night.
I hope this helps someone going to Disney World.

1 comments about Tropical Family Vacations: in the Caribbean, Hawaii, South Florida, and Mexico.
- Tropical Family Vacations gives a nice introduction to family travel in Florida, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico. For each island or place, the author provides an overview with a description, visitor information, language and currency. All the listings--resorts and attractions--are oriented toward families. I was pleased to find both 800 numbers and web addresses. The descriptions are writtenin a pretty objective fashion. Expect description rather than evaluation. If you (and your kids!) know you want a warm vacation, but don't know where to go, this is a good first step in planning.
