1. These travel guides are the best! I have used them all over Europe, so decided to try it for the States. I like the city center maps, pictures and Place to Eat and Places to Stay. We have traveled for years with a plane ticket, ATM card and one of these travel guides. Makes being a gypsy easy!



2. If you are going to take a tour of New England this is a must have book. It includes great ideas for touring around Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. If you are only going to Boston you are probably better off buying the cheaper Boston guide but any tour of New England needs this book. The pictures are great and as always the division by region is a great way to see things. Whether you are touring the whole thing or just a few states this book is an excellent start.

1. Matthew Weinreb is an incredible photographer of architecture. I was searching for a photo book on London architecture and this one surpasses all that I came across. Take note that while there are chapters indicating that a particular material is being document (such as tile, terra cotta, etc), Weinreb wanders from the chapter's focus after 2 or 3 photos. I like this because it shows an eccentricity.
   I have two other books by him, and they are equally amazing. He's a great natural light photographer.

1. I have just received my copy of this book and wanted others to know that the roads described as 'backroads' are not necessarily so. Route 116, Damon Road in Northampton, Old Deerfield, Route 9 through Williamsburg...they are all fine roads, but some are actually quite heavily traveled. These are not the dirt roads shown on the cover! Though the rides may be fine for some (even most) they are not as quiet and safe for children as you might be expecting.

1. Over the years I have come to prefer Fodor's guides since they appeal to the middle-aged traveler (like me). My days of backpacking and hostels are gone, preferring nicer accommodations and meals yet still appreciating a bargain. Fodor's guides I have found to be the best reference for this market segment. They are always accurate and well-written.



2. This book was essential for my trip around England. It had up-to-date information, admission prices, opening times, and days that certain attractions were open. Without this book I would not have known half of the places I went to before traveling to London. The summaries of the places are accurate and all the accomidation suggestions I took were just as the book had said. The best part are the maps of the small places like cities and towns so that once you get somewhere you know where everything is. The transportation sections were also extremely helpful because sometimes it is VERY hard to get around in England without your own car. I would recommend this book to anyone who is planning their first or even a return trip to England. Even though it is a bit heavy to carry around, the extra effort is completely worth it!!!

1. This map has excellent detail, a lot of information and is very durable. The map can be folded many different ways and holds up well. This is the map that I used the most.



2. I'm not happy because I needed a map showing all three states on a single sheet. I already have individual state maps that are better.
