- I found quite a few helpful bits of information for navigating London with my child. I haven't yet been, so this may be hasty, however, we are planning our stay in London relying in large part on this book.

1 comments about Blue Guide England.
- My husband and I are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to travel once or twice a year. I always plan for our trips by buying and studying 2 guidebooks, one with lots of pictures, and the other, invariably, the Blue Guide to the site in question. Blue Guide England was the first of these, purchased more than 10 years ago. We used that edition as guide book, historical and geographical reference, and atlas. It became so dogeared and highlighted that we were happy when the next edition was published, purchasing it immediately even though we had no immediate plans to return to England. We are independent travellers, almost always booking flights, cars, and reservations on our own on the web. We also enjoy delving into places off the beaten track and the top-ten lists. The detail in any Blue Guide is much more encompassing than that in any other guide we have used. The driving directions are usually right on the money. Its literary, architectural, and historical information is particularly helpful. We have discovered many little known gems because of these guides. Highly recommended, without reservation.

- Not alot of useful information. More of a route planner, which was not clear from the description. Disappointing.
- First, I found the "Driving Information" section invaluable - every US rental agency should give one to out-of-town drivers! Second, the regional maps were useful for all but small details, at which point one consulted the recommended, detailed maps. Last, but not least, the book led me to some out-of-the-way spots that I would have otherwise missed! Next year, I will be driving in Italy with Strandoo's book by my side.

2 comments about Provincetown and the National Seashore.
- I was blown away with the quality and breadth of the images in this unusual photo essay book. I love both Provincetown and photography, so you can imagine my excitement in discovering the book on Amazon.
Fields seems to have a knack for capturing the subtle and beautiful Cape light many artists and tourists flock to see. Surprisingly, he also has a fair number of fun and stunning portraits in the collection. I would recommend thia book for anyone who loves photography or the Cape. It's also an easy and obvious gift selection for my friends.
- If imitation is the greatest form of flattery, many photographers both amateur (me) and professional, will be in awe of this book. It will also be loved and appreciated by tourists who visit the area. I first came across this book last year when I did a slide show on Cape Cod and needed a few shots of this portion of the Cape. I did not copy Mr. Fields' work (largely because I am not as gifted a photographer), but the book inspired me. This is due to his interesting perspective of the area. His best photographs are those of the dunes and the areas along the national seashore, but he also includes typical Cape Cod shots such as vacationers, fishing boats, and historical landmarks. He also includes photographs of a few of the more outlandish sides of Provincetown, which makes Provincetown fun for many people and shows that Fields is adept at using his camera to tell a story.

1 comments about Inside Out Boston (InsideOut City Guides).
- This detailed, clear map is practically indispensable for navigating in Boston, whether on foot or by car. The laminated format makes it not only very durable, even after much use, but easily folded to show the segment of the city one needs. The detail is really excellent, showing many things including large and small streets, parkway access roads, points of interest, surrounding communities, Logan airport, etc. The map's clarity is much enhanced by the use of well-chosen color. It would be helpful if the names of Boston's many squares were regularly included, as these seem to be a prominent feature of navigation in Boston, and if possible, to indicate more of the one-way directions of streets. All in all, I find this an extremely useful and well-made map, highly recommended for navigation in a complicated but fascinating city.

1 comments about Connecticut Off the Beaten Path, 5th: A Guide to Unique Places.
- I bought this for my parents as they had recently moved from California to Conn. They love this book as it has allowed them to find some great bedroom communities nearby.
A true review would be from someone who knows the area, but for outsiders this was a great purchase.
