  1. We first saw Andrew Borsari's work in his gallery on Bearskin Neck in Rockport. His images are striking and artistic; full of dramatic lighting and perfect moments. Most important, they capture the essence of Cape Ann, Massachusetts throughout its diverse moods and changing seasons. We were ecstatic that he has made his photos available in this publication.

He has assembled dozens of his images from Gloucester, Manchester, Essex, and Rockport into a colorfull presentation that is large enough to do justice to the subjects. Many images - like the combined front and back cover of Good Harbor Beach - are panoramas that faithfully convey the splendor of this place. Many feature the places the locals treasure and most tourists never see.

This is a wonderful way to visit or remember this very special place.

  1. Its hard to imagine that our traditional, yet modern New England town once looked like the photographs in this wonderful book. From the covered bridge across the river, to the horse-and-buggy transportation, the photos capture the magic of Hanover over a period of more than 100 years. Anyone who loves Hanover will absolutely love this book.

  1. Zagat reviews are incredibly helpful for price range and getting a sense for what a restaurant's really like. This edition has maps in the back that are very helpful for finding a new destination, in addition to having cross-streets listed in each entry for ease of navigation.

  1. This is a fairly good and helpful book on gardening in Maine. Being a citizen of Maine myself I know a thing or two about gardening up here, for instance there is a very short season here. If you have trouble gardening, no matter what type, being herb, vegetable, spices, fruits, or even trees this book will most likely give you some long awaited answers. This book even shows you how to garden indoors for those times you don't feel like getting eaten by bugs. So if you love gardening then this is a fairly good choice, but look into some other books first.

  2. This book is very inspiring, brilliant and incredibly colorful. It showcases some of the great variety of gardens, and also points out the challenges that face the gardener in this northern most New England state. It is well designed, with many large photos, and the reading is very easy, but informative. The photos have been choosen to inspire and delight, and the captions are hardworking-explaining tasks and identifying the plants. A very beautiful piece of work!

  3. This is a model garden book. The superb photographs provide the backbone of the book. The text is short, not filled out with unecessary words copied from other garden books as is often the case. The photos show what is working in other peoples' gardens and are replete with good ideas.

  1. A wonderfully photographed book that shows the spirit of the South Coast of MA. It takes a tour of the South Coast that only someone with a true understanding of this area could photograph so well. Beautiful!

  2. I wrote the Foreword for this first-rate work, so I am of course biased. That said, I thought I would recommend it anyway.

My publisher ultimately decided that photos would not be suitable for my book, "Buzzards Bay: A Journey of Discovery." So when Bob's book came along shortly after my own, it was indeed a pleasant surprise. His photographs really take me to Buzzards Bay. I flip through my copy of "South Coast" all the time, especially on those dreary winter days when I can only fantasize about casting for stripers in a silent green cove or watching catboats emerge from the morning mists.

  1. I was totally unfamiliar with New Hampshire and what it had to offfer me as a visiter and I found this guide to be an engaging way to learn about the state. Each part of the state has different things to offer, and Mr. Binder's style of writing was both intelligent and witty and never condensended. It's concise yet comprehensive, lacking the excess verbage some guides include to "fill a place out." If you like to "get a sense of place" before you visit it, this book delivers the state of New Hampshire.

  1. What a great book. Historic pictures and humorous butknowledgable writing bring you through the early days of New Englanddiners, gas stations, post cards, roadmaps, clam shacks, tea rooms, rest cabins, even collectible matchbooks! A real treat that brings you back to a simpler (and better) time. Stories of past establishments, and great personal research as to "what ever happened to" these places. Whenever I want a good escape from the stress of today, I pick up my copy and just love it each time. Try writing the author for a copy at bramhall terrace, portland maine, or look up his other great nostalgia/travel/beer history books. He's got a neat niche.
