1 comments about Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Rocky Mountains and Neighbouring Territories.
- This is a really neat book! It covers over 150 edible and medicinal plants and includes both photographs and line drawings of the herbs and plants for an easier time identifying them. Each plant has the common and botanical name, as well as a write up on identification, distribution and habitat, and Preparation and uses. Many of them also have folk stories related to the plants from native cultures. The appendices include A Glossary of botanical terms, Summary of herbal therapuetic groupings, Herbal preparations, and sources and recommended readings.
All in all, if I where to bring one book with me, out in the wild... this would be the one.

2 comments about The Rough Guide to Skiing & Snowboarding in North America.
- I mean, what can I say? Snowboarding is a Religion, and this book really is the Bible. I don't think there is a stone left unturned with this one. Anyone interested in Snowboarding who lives in the USA and doesn't own this book may as well give in now, and order it. The research and quality of information on hand here is perfect for anyone who boards. Great bedside reading too!
- the good thing about this guide is that it focuses more on travel and resorts for those of us who dont need "the carnival cruise line" of snowboarding trips, i.e. its it includes tons of info for those of us without kids to consider. you can do this travel by yourself, with friends, on a budget or in high style, this rough guide gives you the choice, and there is a lot to choose from.

1 comments about Hitching Rides with Buddha: A Journey Across Japan.
- my husband and i moved to japan this summer for a short 3 month visit and i wanted to read a novel while we were here. the travel bookstore in our area only had this book in the japanese section so i decided to give it a go. i just finished the book today and have nothing but great things to say. first off, his writing is hysterical. i found myself laughing out loud throughout the book - driving my husband crazy of course! if you have ever travelled to japan or just wonder what its like from a real life point of view please check out this book. his humor, sarcasm and quick wit are sure to charm you.

3 comments about British Columbia Recreational Atlas.
- The most comprehensive guide to back-country tourism for the British Columbia traveller. Whether you decide to travel on or off the road you'll find detailed maps and destination spots throughout the BC Rec. Atlas. All the small back-roads and logging-roads are detailed in this 1:200,000 scales mapbook. Even campsites are listed! Your best bet for discovering BC.
- This atlas is absolutely first rate for anyone wishing to find their way in B.C. Detailed road maps include many of the semi-improved and unimproved roads in a scale that provides details not found on ordinary highway maps. Lakes, rivers, wildlife and recreational sites are detailed on the charts and described in back pages. A must-have for anyone traveling through beautiful British Columbia.
- This Atlas is the best gift that I have ever given my husband! We have seen parts of this magnificent province that we never knew existed. We have travelled on backroads that are on this map but nowhere else! And the accuracy of those roads is perfect. Men may not ever ask directions......but they sure love to read maps!

4 comments about Frommer's Cruises & Ports of Call 2007: From U.S. & Canadian Home Ports to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii & More (Frommer's Cruises).
- I have cruised many times before and found this book to be quite honest in its observations. We are sailing to Hawaii and I was able to find the information I wanted. I think this is a great resource for anyone considering a cruise vacation.
- I have always turned to Frommer's for honest reviews of just about any destination. Their website is full of great info too
- These books are great tools. I have cruised many times and I still consult them before every cruise. I would say they are must haves for first timers. They summarize the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as many debarkation ports. What I find most useful is the information provided on each of the cruise lines and cruise ships. If you are unsure which ship would be best for you and your family this book will definitely help you decide. I would caution potential buyers visiting very small or less popular islands. Places like Anguilla, Trinidad and Tobago are noticeably absent from the book.
- Great book to throw in your backpack and take with you on the cruise. You can bone up on a bit of the history and it will get some ideas ffor excursions or places to visit on the islands.
