1 comments about The Wild Edge: Clayoquot, Long Beach and Barkley Sound.
- Ms. Windh has done us a real service by showing us a part of the world where few of us visit. In real life may it ever remain as lovely and as unspoiled as in her photos.

3 comments about A Place for God: A Guide to Spiritual Retreats and Retreat Centers.
- I ahve found this book to have accurate andc orrect information. SO far on the retreat centers listed all information given has been correct anda ccurate. Also even if you never go on a retreat gives you a real feel for what a retreat would be like. One can sense the "peace" from the review. Hoever after reading this you will be even more inclined to want to go on a retreat.
- If you are looking for a directory on CHRISTIAN spiritual retreats, then this book is for you. However, for those of us looking for a spiritual, yet non-religious experience, then this guide is not helpful. I was hoping this directory would help me find spiritual retreats embracing a variety of practices. It did not. Otherwise, it is a well-organized and thorough guide within its narrow focus.
- This book is easy to read and use. As the author of an inspirational book for mothers, NEW PSALMS FOR NEW MOMS: A KEEPSAKE JOURNAL, I encourage everyone to seek the spiritual. And this guide will be handy as you do just that. Many blessings on your journey.

2 comments about Northern Saskatchewan Canoe Trips: A Guide to 15 Wilderness Rivers.
- If you plan on going canoeing in N. Sask. this is the book you need. Almost every major river in this area is profiled with history, character of river, detailed map with UTM coordinates of important sites. Also includes info. on the type of fish in each river - important for the anglers. I have used it on several occasions when paddling in this beautiful area of N. Sask. The appendix includes important outfitter contacts and websites to check water levels.
- I took last summer off to float some rivers in Canada. This book is excellent both for deciding which of the rivers of Northern Saskatchewan to float and for use during your trip. It is exceptionally well organized and detailed. Ms. Archer will not steer you wrong and the book is full of helpful advice that comes from a person who has obviously done a multitude of river trips and who has an exceptional level of wilderness wisdom and skill.

1 comments about Yukon.
- Having been interested in the Yukon, I bought this book and all I can say is Wow. In addition to providing breathtakingly beautiful pictures, this book describes all aspects of the Yukon: Its geography, history, and people. It profiles some of the Yukon's many colourful citizens, from Jurg Hofer (who runs a trapline about as big as his native Switzerland), to Polly, the fabled 122-year-old parrot who died in 1972.
This book would get five stars just for the pictures alone, which detail much of the Yukon's pristine, untouched wilderness. It acts in effect like a travel brochure for the Yukon, showing some of the World's most beautiful wilderness. This book should be sought after by those interested in the Yukon, those interested in wilderness, and those who love photography. It is a first-rate compendum of the Yukon, to which I would have given ten stars, if that were possible.

2 comments about Fodor's Pacific Northwest, 15th Edition (Fodor's Gold Guides).
- i bought this book along with fodor's guide to b and b's in the pacific northwest. this guide is a good one, both for residents who haven't had time to really see the area and for tourists. its the only one of the guidebooks that i browsed that has accurate information on doing a circle tour of the olympic peninsula. and it has a section that recommends itineraries for one, three, and seven days.
- I recently bought this book for a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest: Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and Whistler. I found this guide to be extremely helpful both before and during my travels. I was impressed that I was able to find information other than the typical, popular tourist attractions in the main parts of each city. I also liked that they highlighted the "bests" of each city, as well as reccommended activities based on your length of stay. I was slightly dissappointed with the lack of information in the "Whistler, BC" and the quality of the maps (only in Black and White, and only a few neighborhoods for each city.) I think these shortcomings are minor, and would highly reccommend it.
